Description
技术领域
本发明涉及部分疏水的二氧化硅的水分散体、其制备方法、其用于稳定乳液、以及用作控制水基涂料、粘合剂和密封剂流变的添加剂的用途。
背景技术
二氧化硅的水分散体可用于金属表面的化学机械平面化,用于半导体领域,例如用于诸如喷墨纸的纸张涂敷,如作为水性油漆、涂料、粘合剂和密封剂中的流变剂和/或抗沉降剂,用于诸如手套的乳胶产品的生产,用于凝胶电池的生产,以及用于无乳化剂的Pickering乳液的稳定。
二氧化硅水分散体的流动特性和胶体稳定性严重受pH影响。
因此,尤其是pH在中性范围的二氧化硅水分散体表现出高的粘度和固有的胶体不稳定性。
二氧化硅水分散体通常通过改变二氧化硅粒子的表面电荷达到静电稳定。
因此,从DE 4006392的说明书可知,疏水二氧化硅的胶体稳定且低粘度的分散体可以通过将pH设定在碱性范围来获得。
其缺点是,pH水平在中性点附近时,即pH在7左右时,如许多应用所要求的,所述分散体表现出粘度增加失去控制,或甚至产生胶凝,如同D.Heath,T.F.Tadros,J.Colloid Interface Sci.1983,93,320中所描述的。pH进一步降低到中性点以下时会导致粘度进一步下降。疏水二氧化硅水分散体的该行为所具有的缺点是,即使pH变化较小,如在复杂混合物配制期间可能发生的,也会导致配制品流动特性的波动难以控制。
此外,从EP 1124693A1、EP 736489和DE 10238463A1的说明书可知,从US 2,892,797知道的使用铝酸盐的使用铝盐可以稳定二氧化硅水分散体。其缺点是,在中性点附近时,即pH在7左右时,这些分散体趋向不稳定,这可以导致粘度增加失去控制,或甚至产生胶凝。此外,加入铝盐对某些应用可能有不利影响,举例来说,诸如在喷墨纸张的涂敷和水基环氧树脂的流变控制中。
发明内容
本发明的目的是克服现有技术的弊病,并提供在pH为5~12下具有高固含量的二氧化硅分散体,该分散体不用加入其它稳定剂且胶体稳定,因此可以贮藏,在pH为5~8时不表现出局部或绝对粘度最大值,而是表现出随着pH下降而粘度连续增加。
本发明提供了二氧化硅分散体,其特征在于在分散体pH为5~12时其包括部分疏水的二氧化硅。
胶体稳定是指在贮藏4周期间分散体没有表现出任何明显的粘度增加,而且用动态光散射测量时的平均粒径保持不变。胶体稳定对于适当的贮藏性能是必要条件。在贮藏过程中表现出粘度增加失去控制、甚至产生胶凝的水分散体常常不再适合进一步处理,因为高粘度对处理操作如泵送或搅拌有不利的影响。
随着pH下降粘度不断增加优于现有技术所知的依赖于pH的粘度波动,因为如果设定了规定的pH,就不会发生粘度过高而超出希望的范围并部分失去控制,因此也就不会产生更难的操控性。
令人惊讶地,并且技术人员决不可预见,现已发现,使用部分疏水的二氧化硅时可以制备高固含量的分散体,该类分散体在pH为5~12时表现出优异的胶体稳定性,即使在长期贮藏以及在pH为5~8时也没有表现出局部或绝对粘度最大值,即,表现出粘度的不断增加。
在这里部分疏水的二氧化硅是指公开说明书EP 1433749A1所述种类的二氧化硅。本发明所使用的二氧化硅是指二氧化硅的表面既没有完全疏水化,即甲硅烷基化,二氧化硅的表面也不是完全亲水,即未甲硅烷基化。具体地是指根据本发明所使用的二氧化硅的硅烷醇基密度为0.9~1.7硅烷醇基/nm2,碳含量为0.1%~2%,甲醇数为小于30。硅烷醇基密度可用酸碱滴定得到,如G.W.Sears在Anal.Chem.1956,28,1981中所给出的;碳含量可以用元素分析测定;甲醇数为必须加入到水相中的甲醇馏份的百分比,以便完全润湿二氧化硅,即,二氧化硅在试验液体中完全沉没混合。
为了制备本发明的分散体,向pH为7~12、优选pH为8~11、更优选pH为8.5~10.5的水相加入部分疏水的二氧化硅,并且进行混合,混合可通过自发润湿,或通过例如用翻滚式混合机或高速搅拌器的摇动,或通过用十字搅拌器或溶解器的搅拌。这里已证实,有利地是在加入部分疏水的二氧化硅期间、混合期间、及后来的分散中以一定的间隔监测pH,如果有任何偏离,应加入酸或碱将其修正到要求的目标值。可以使用商业上常用的有机和无机的酸和碱来调整或修正pH值,即Brnsted酸如水合的或气态的HCl、水合的或无水的HNO3、H28O4、H3PO、对甲苯磺酸、柠檬酸,或Brnsted碱,如水合的或气态的氨、水合的或无水的NaOH、KOH、CaCO3、CaO、甲醇钠或有机胺。
在低于10重量%的低粒子浓度情况下,简单的搅拌一般足以将粒子混合到液体中。优选在高剪切率时将粒子混合到液体中。
在混合之前,部分疏水的二氧化硅可以为包装形式,如在包装袋中,或以散装的形式储藏,如在料仓或大型容器中。部分疏水的二氧化硅可以计量输入,包括通过从包装袋抖入,通过有或没有称重的计量料仓,或用诸如压缩空气隔膜泵或风机的合适传送装置从贮藏料仓或大型容器直接输送。
在混合之后或与混合同时分散粒子。优选同时分散。同时分散是指开始向水相中计量加入和混合二氧化硅时伴随着开始分散操作。这可以通过第一容器中的分散系统来进行,或通过装有分散器件的外部管线从容器进行泵循环,优选闭路循环回到容器。通过部分循环及部分连续抽取,该操作可以优选连续进行。
适合于此目的的装置包括,优选圆周速度为150m/s的高速搅拌器、高速溶解器,例如高速转子-定子系统、超声均化器(sonolator)、剪切间隙、喷嘴或球磨机。
二氧化硅的混合和分散可以优选通过例如诱导器(inductor)来进行,如Ystral的Conti TDS 4。在该情况下,粉状的部分疏水二氧化硅通过吸取、真空或例如借助于泵的强制输送而直接计量送入剪切间隙。
尤其适合于分散部分疏水二氧化硅的是使用5Hz~500kHz,优选10kHz~100kHz、尤其优先15kHz~50kHz的超声;超声分散可以连续或间断地进行。可以通过单独的超声转换器(transducer)如超声头来进行分散,或在包括一个或多个超声转换器的连续流系统中来进行,如果需要,通过管线或管壁隔离的系统。
如果合适,分散可以结合不同的方法来进行:举例来说,预分散通过溶解器或诱导器,后续的细分散通过超声处理。
本发明的制备可以在间歇方法和连续方法中进行。优选连续方法。
制备本发明分散体优选使用纯水,优选导电率低于100μS/cm的完全去离子水(DI)。
本发明方法具有的优点是,实施非常简单,能够制得部分疏水的二氧化硅固含量很高的水分散体。
本发明的分散体优选具有5~50重量%的部分疏水二氧化硅含量,更优选为5~35重量%,尤其优选10~35重量%,特别优选15~30重量%。
具有高含量的部分疏水二氧化硅的本发明水分散体的特征尤其在于,其pH为5~12、优选7~11、尤其优选8~10.5。
具有高含量的部分疏水二氧化硅的本发明水分散体的特征尤其在于,可获得pH为5~12、优选7~11、尤其优选8~10.5的低粘度分散体。这意谓pH为5~12、优选7~11、尤其优选8~10.5、二氧化硅含量优选5~50重量%的分散体的粘度为低于1000mPa,优选低于800mPa,尤其优选低于700mPa,特别优选为低于500mPa,所述粘度使用105μm测量间隙的锥板传感器系统在25℃、剪切速率为100s-1下测量。
具有高含量的部分疏水二氧化硅的本发明水分散体的特征进一步在于,在分散体的pH从9到4分级或连续减少时伴随有粘度的逐渐连续增加,但是不会产生任何明显的局部粘度最大值-即,超出典型的实验分散的粘度。这尤其意谓着对于pH为9时的剪切粘度(η9)和pH为7时的剪切粘度(η7)所形成的比率η7/9=η7/η9,及pH为7时的剪切粘度(η7)和pH为4时的剪切粘度(η4)所形成的比率η4/7=η4/η7而言,其每个数值都大于或等于1,优选1~1000,更优选1~500,尤其优选1~100,所述粘度使用105μm测量间隙的锥板传感器系统在25℃、剪切速率为100s-1时测量。
具有高含量的部分疏水二氧化硅的本发明水分散体的特征进一步在于,其具有出色的贮藏稳定性。这意谓着pH为5~12、优选7~11、尤其优选8~10.5pH的分散体在40℃下贮藏4周之后,与刚制备的分散体的粘度相比,其粘度升高不超过5倍,优选不超过2.5倍,更优选不超过2.0倍,尤其优选不超过1.5倍,所述粘度使用105μm测量间隙的锥板传感器系统在25℃且剪切速率为100s-1下测量。
具有高含量的部分疏水二氧化硅的本发明水分散体的特征进一步在于,其具有出色的贮藏稳定性。这意谓pH为5~12、优选7~11、尤其优选8~10.5的分散体在40℃下贮藏4周之后,其屈服点低于100Pa、优选低于10Pa、更优选低于1Pa、尤其优选低于0.1Pa,每种情况都是根据Q.D.Nguyen,D.Boger,J.Rheol.1985,29,335使用叶轮法在25℃测得。
本发明分散体的特征进一步在于在pH为5~12时表现出负的ζ电位。PH为9时ζ电位优选低于-5mV,更优选低于-10mV,尤其优选低于-15mV。ζ电位举例来说可以通过测量胶体振荡电位来测得,例如用DispersionTechnologies的ζ电位探测器DT 300,或者使用Malvern Instruments的Zetasizer ZS用激光多普勒效应速度测量方法,通过测定电泳迁移率来测得。
本发明分散体的特征进一步在于,其在pH<4时具有等电位点(iep),等电位点定义为ζ电位为零值时的分散体的pH。
本发明的分散体的特征进一步在于,分散粒子为精细分散的烧结聚集体的形式。
这些烧结聚集体的特征在于,通过准弹性光散射测量粒子大小时,测得的流体力学等效直径比根据公式a=6/ABET*d算术计算得到的初级粒子直径大至少2倍,优选2.5~50倍,更优选2.8~30倍,其中ABET为初始亲水性二氧化硅的BET比表面积,根据DIN 66131通过氮吸附测得,d为初级粒子的密度,每种情况都基于比表面积为100m2/g-在表面积较小或较大的情况下,倍数相应地线性减少或增加。
本发明分散体的特征进一步在于,如果需要,其可以包括杀真菌剂或杀细菌剂,如甲基异噻唑啉酮或苯并异噻唑啉酮。
本发明水分散体中除了杀真菌剂或杀细菌剂外,其它有机辅剂的量优选低于5重量%,更优选低于1重量%,尤其优选低于0.5重量%,特别是低于0.1重量%。
尤其是,本发明水分散体中诸如表面活性剂或保护胶的分散助剂的量低于5重量%,优选低于1重量%,更优选低于0.5重量%,尤其优选本发明的水分散体中不含分散助剂。
本发明水分散体中有机盐和无机盐或电解质,如NaCl、KCl或AlCl3的量优选低于5重量%,更优选低于1重量%,尤其优选低于0.1重量%,特别是低于0.01重量%。尤其优选本发明分散体中不加入有机盐或无机盐。
本发明水分散体在pH为9.5时的导电率优选低于100mS/cm,更优选低于10mS/cm,尤其优选低于5mS/cm,特别是低于1mS/cm。
所述部分疏水的二氧化硅粒子优选平均初级粒子尺寸d-PP为0.5~1000nm,更优选5~100nm,尤其优选5~50nm。其合适的测量方法举例来说为场致发射模式的透射电子显微方法或高分辨率扫描电子显微镜方法。
所述部分疏水的二氧化硅粒子优选平均次级结构粒度或聚集体粒度d-Aggr为50~5000nm,更优选100~800nm,尤其优选120~500nm,所述粒度根据流体力学等效直径测得。
其合适的测量方法举例来说为动态光散射方法或光子关联光谱方法,为了测量>0.01重量%的浓度,以后向散射进行,和/或通过针对多次散射的相互关联进行矫正。
本发明进一步提供使用本发明分散体制备粒子稳定的水包油型乳液(Pickering乳液)的方法。
在此已发现通过本文以下所述的方法可得出最好的结果。
通过加入质子酸如盐酸,将pH为9时具有低粘度的本发明分散体酸化到pH小于5。然后通过乳化将油相混合到二氧化硅分散体中,此时分散体具有更高的粘度,而乳化则通过诸如溶解器的高速混合装置、转子-定子系统或在超声发生器或其它乳化机中进行。如果需要,在全部量的油已经混合之后,可以另外计量加入水。这可以在剪切条件下或通过简单搅拌来完成。
如果需要,还可以首先引入油相,然后通过搅拌分散来混合本发明的分散体,例如通过诸如溶解器的高速混合装置、转子-定子系统,或在超声发生器中。
如果需要,得到的乳液可以再次经过进一步乳化操作,以便改善其性能,这样的操作,例如在高压均化器或连续流动超声单元中进行。
如果需要,得到的乳液的pH可以通过加入酸如盐酸,或碱如NaOH水溶液来调节到要求的水平。这可以通过简单的搅拌或在剪切条件下,例如在溶解器中进行。优选通过简单的搅拌混合。
如果需要,乳液水相的离子强度可以通过加入电解质如NaCl来调节到所要求的离子强度,以增加乳液粘度。这可以通过简单搅拌或在剪切条件下,例如在溶解器中来完成。优选通过简单的搅拌混合。
为增加粘度,可以向乳液加入1·10-4mol/l~10mol/l、优选0.5·10-3mol/l~5mol/l、更优选1·10-3mol/l~1mol/l的电解质。
本发明涉及本发明的水分散体在表面涂敷中应用,所述表面如矿物底基,例如金属、钢或铁,举例来说是为了控制腐蚀的目的。

-分散体的固含量通过以下方法测定:将10g水分散体与等份的乙醇在瓷皿中掺合,并且在N2吹扫的干燥箱中在150℃时蒸发到恒重。干残留物的质量ms如下给出了固含量:
固体量/%=ms*100/10g.
-分散体的ζ电位通过以下方法测得:用具有与分散体相同pH的DI水将分散体稀释到大约1.5重量%的二氧化硅。在Malvern Instruments的Zetasizer ZS上,测量pH从9.2到2范围的ζ电位,pH调节通过自动滴定仪以pH梯度为1来进行。
-分散体粘度使用Haake的RS 600流变仪,用锥板传感器系统(105μm测量间隙)在25℃且剪切速率D=100s-1下测定。
-烧结聚集体的平均直径通过光子关联光谱法用以下方法测得:用具有与分散体相同pH的DI水将分散体稀释到大约0.3重量%的二氧化硅。试样在25℃时在Malvern Instruments的Zetasizer ZS上以后向散射测得。聚集体的平均直径为z均(累积平均),其对应于二氧化硅聚集体的流体力学等效直径。
-pH通过pH复合电极测量
实施例7(乳液的制备)
将54g固含量为23重量%的实施例1所述的二氧化硅分散体注入到500ml的不锈钢烧杯中。加入HCl水溶液将pH设定到约5。将粘度现已更高的悬浮液缓慢地与150g粘度为100mPa的聚二甲基硅氧烷(可从Wacker Chemie GmbH,Munich(DE)以“AK 100”的名称得到)掺和:在约15分钟的时间内计量加入,使用Ultraturrax以10000rpm搅拌并伴随水冷却。加入期间混合物的温度不应超过60℃。得到的不流动物质现已为高粘度,随后与108g DI水掺和,同样缓慢地在15分钟时间内以10000rpm掺和。加入期间混合物的温度不应超过60℃。产物为高度流动的白色水包油型乳液,其分析数据汇总在表2中。

1.一种二氧化硅分散体,其特征在于在分散体pH为5~12时其包括部分疏水的二氧化硅。
2.权利要求1的二氧化硅分散体,其特征在于所述分散体的部分疏水二氧化硅的含量为5~50重量%。
3.权利要求2的二氧化硅分散体,其特征在于所述分散体在二氧化硅含量为5-50重量%且剪切速率为100s-1下的粘度为低于1000mPa。
4.权利要求1~3之一的二氧化硅分散体,其特征在于当pH从9下降到4时分散体粘度连续增加。
5.权利要求1~4之一的二氧化硅分散体,其特征在于在pH为9~4时没有局部粘度最大值。
6.权利要求1或2的二氧化硅分散体,其特征在于与刚制备的分散体的粘度相比,所述分散体具有的贮藏稳定性,即它在pH为5~12时于40℃下贮藏4周之后的粘度升高不超过5倍,其中所述粘度使用105μm测量间隙的锥板传感器系统在25℃且剪切速率为100s-1下测量。
7.权利要求1~6之一的二氧化硅分散体,其特征在于所述部分疏水的二氧化硅粒子的平均聚集体粒度为50~5000nm,所述尺寸根据流体力学等效直径测得。
8.一种水包油型Pickering乳液,其特征在于它包括权利要求1~7之一的二氧化硅分散体。
9.权利要求8的水包油型Pickering乳液,其特征在于它包含用于增加粘度的电解质。
10.一种油漆、涂料、合成树脂、粘合剂、密封剂或纸张涂料,其特征在于它包含权利要求1~7之一的二氧化硅分散体。
