Abstract

本发明涉及凸焊到带孔面板上的紧固件和应用来密封紧固件与面板之间间隙的密封剂。
背景技术
在汽车和其他工业中已知诸如螺柱或螺母的紧固件可以焊接到金属板面板或者其他构件上。紧固件具有在将被焊接到面板的表面上形成的多个凸起。电极应用到紧固件,并且备用电极应用到面板。电阻焊电流被传导通过这些电极,并且被集中通过这些凸起,从而在凸起和面板之间产生电阻焊。
在许多应用中,面板将具有与紧固件对齐的孔。在螺柱的情况下,螺柱可以延伸通过该孔。在紧固件为螺母的情况下,将最终拧入该螺母的螺栓可以穿过该孔。在任何情况下,在紧固件上形成的凸起将通常在紧固件的基底和面板之间留下小间隙。期望密封此小间隙以防止噪声或者液体或者气体物质通过。
发明内容
提供了一种用于凸焊电阻焊到面板上的紧固件。该紧固件包括基底,基底具有与其整体形成的诸如螺纹立柱或螺母的紧固元件。与基底整体形成的多个凸起从基底延伸以与面板接合,用于通过电阻焊而焊接到面板上。槽面对面板地设置在基底中并且填充可热激活膨胀的密封剂材料。在电阻焊期间加热基底时,密封剂膨胀以填充并密封基底和面板之间的任何间隙。

特定示例性实施例的以下说明实质上仅仅是示例性的而无意限制本发明、其应用或者使用。
参照图1,金属板面板10具有孔12。现有技术焊接立柱14包括圆形基底16,基底16具有多个凸起20从其延伸出来的表面18。螺纹柄22从基底16的表面18延伸出来。图1示出了位于面板10上的焊接立柱14,其中凸起20接合面板10并且螺纹柄22延伸通过面板10的孔12。
图2示出了已经凸焊到面板10上的焊接立柱14。凸焊操作在紧固工业中公知,并且包括将电极定位靠在焊接立柱14的基底16上和将备用电极放置在面板10上。施加电焊电流并在凸起20和面板10之间的接触点处引发电阻加热,以在焊接立柱14和面板10之间产生焊缝24。但是,如图2所示,凸起的高度使得将在基底16的表面18和面板10之间保留有间隙26。这种间隙26的存在和凸起20以围绕基底26圆周的间隔而间隔开的事实可能允许湿气、气体或者噪声通过孔12。因此,已知应用一团密封剂来封闭间隙26。密封剂在焊接操作之后被应用,并且通常涉及使用泵和软管以及喷嘴,这将对制造操作增加劳动、成本和复杂性。如图2所示,密封剂可以被应用作为围绕螺纹柄22的一团密封剂30,或者环绕基底26的一团密封剂32。
参照图3和4,示出了新的改进焊接立柱40,其具有螺纹柄44从其延伸出来的基底42。基底42具有围绕圆周间隔开并且从基底42的下侧54延伸出的多个凸起46、48、50和52。环形槽56在螺纹柄44和凸起46、48、50和52中间设置在基底42的下侧54中,并且环绕螺纹柄44。环形槽56在螺纹柄外侧和凸起46、48、50和52内侧。通过焊接立柱40的制造者将一团可热膨胀密封剂58(例如可从Henkel Company购得的4600MS-CD 473HTM)嵌入槽56中。
图5示出了附装到具有孔62的面板60上的焊接立柱40。电阻焊电流已经施加到焊接立柱40和面板60。焊接电流已使得在每个凸起86、88、90和92与面板60之间形成焊缝64。基底42的下侧56保持在面板60的表面上方间隔开一定距离,使得在下侧54和面板60之间存在间隙68。在孔62的壁和螺纹柄44之间也存在间隙70。但是,在电阻焊操作期间产生的热已经使得该圈可热膨胀密封剂58膨胀并填充间隙68和间隙70,使得液体和气体都不可通过孔62。
图6和7示出本发明的另一个实施例,其中焊接螺母80示出为具有基底82和带螺纹孔85的内螺纹螺母84。基底82具有绕基底82的圆周间隔开并从基底82的下侧94延伸出的多个凸起86、88、90和92。在凸起86、88、90和92内侧环形槽96设置在基底的下侧97中。由焊接螺母80的制造者将一团可热膨胀密封剂98嵌入槽96中。
图8示出了附装到面板100的焊接螺母80,面板100具有与螺纹孔85对齐的孔102。电阻焊电流施加到焊接螺母80和面板100。焊接电流已使得每个凸起86、88、90和92与面板100之间形成焊缝104。基底82的下侧保持在面板100的表面上方间隔开一定距离,使得在面板82的下侧97和面板100之间存在间隙108。但是,在电阻焊操作期间产生的热已经使得该圈可热膨胀密封剂98膨胀并填充间隙108,使得液体、气体和噪声都不能经过基底82和面板100之间。
图9是本发明的另一个实施例的仰视图,其中紧固件110是焊接螺母,其具有带下侧表面114的基底102。凸起116、118和120从下侧表面114向下延伸,并且适于凸焊到面板上。弧形槽124设置在下侧表面114上并填充可热膨胀密封剂128。在图9的实施例中,用于密封剂128的槽124在凸起116、118和120的外侧。
图10是本发明的另一个实施例的仰视图,其中紧固件130具有带下侧表面134的基底132。凸起136、138和140从下侧表面134向下延伸,并且适于凸焊到面板上。间隔开的凹入144、146和148形式的槽设置在下侧表面134中,并且容纳足够体积的可热膨胀密封剂152以确保密封剂的膨胀将使得密封剂充分膨胀和流动以完全密封在基底132和紧固件130将焊接到其上的面板之间存在的整个间隙。图10示出了在与凸起相同的直径处绕基底132的圆周交替分布的凸起和凹入,但应当理解如果需要凹入也可以位于凸起的内侧或者外侧。
本发明的上述说明实质上仅仅是示例性的,因此其变化都应当在本发明的范围之内。因此,用于存储可热膨胀密封剂的槽可以在凸起的内侧,或者槽可以位于凸起的外侧。此外,槽可以是围绕基底连续的环形槽,或者槽可以由间隔开的凹入提供,这些凹入形成在基底中并存储嵌入其中的足够体积的密封剂,以确保密封剂的膨胀将使得密封剂充分膨胀和流动以完全密封基底和面板之间存在的整个间隙。虽然附图示出了截面为半圆形的槽,但槽可以具有任何截面形状。
将理解到可热膨胀密封剂优选地被选择和配制成响应于在凸焊处理过程中电阻加热紧固件基底和凸起期间产生的热的温度和持续时间而热膨胀。但是,在某些应用中,热膨胀将不会发生,直到紧固件和面板在加热炉(例如油漆硬化炉)中被加热,或者膨胀可以部分在凸焊处理期间发生而部分在油漆硬化炉中发生。
可热膨胀密封剂可以是可从Henkel Company购得的4600MS-CD 473HTM,或者表现出在由凸焊处理期间或者通过诸如油漆硬化炉的加热炉对紧固件和面板进行后续处理期间产生的热进行加热时可膨胀的期望特性的任何其他密封剂、粘合剂或者粘性密封剂。
此外,虽然附图示出了紧固件为焊接立柱40和焊接螺母80的例子,但紧固件可以是任何已知的紧固件设计,例如铆钉、夹子或者其他紧固件,它们具有带用于凸焊到面板或其他工件上的凸起的基底。
此外,虽然附图示出槽具有切入紧固件基底的表面54或者97中的强调深度,但槽可以通过凸起的高度设置足够高以允许在表面18上存储所需体积密封剂而更简单地限定。
虽然上述描述提及紧固件被焊接到面板,但是将理解到面板可以是任何金属加工的目标,例如铸造、锻造或者冲压的目标。
因此可以看到本发明提供了新的改进凸焊紧固件,其消除了制造厂中对二次密封操作和设备的需要。
Claims (18)
1.一种紧固件,用于凸焊电阻焊到面板上,该紧固件包括:
基底,具有与其整体形成的紧固元件;
多个凸起,与基底整体形成并且从基底延伸以与面板接合,用于电阻凸焊到面板上;
设置在基底中的槽;和
可热激活膨胀的密封剂材料,沉积在槽中并且在基底被加热时热膨胀以形成基底和面板之间的密封。
2.根据权利要求1所述的紧固件,其中紧固元件是从基底延伸出的立柱。
3.根据权利要求2所述的紧固件,其中所述立柱具有螺纹。
4.根据权利要求1所述的紧固件,其中所述紧固元件是具有内螺纹孔的螺母。
5.根据权利要求1所述的紧固件,其中所述槽围绕基底在圆周方向上延伸。
6.根据权利要求5所述的紧固件,其中所述槽比所述凸起更靠外侧地位于所述基底上。
7.根据权利要求5所述的紧固件,其中所述槽在所述凸起内侧位于所述基底上。
