Abstract

Description
背景信息
投影成像扫描器是发展成熟的用于在零售和其它行业中输入条形码数据的工具。一些投影成像扫描器使用激光技术读取条形码。激光投影成像扫描器一般使用旋转的多边形来使激光束扫过固定反射镜阵列并将扫描线的复模式(complexpattern)投射到扫描器外壳前面的空间。这使得对呈现给扫描器或扫描器屏面所扫过的条形码进行全方向的扫描。这类扫描器的一个示例是可从Symbol科技公司(Symbol Technologies,Inc.)得到的LS-9100。
常规投影成像扫描器对于通用产品代码(“UPC”)条形码和约化空间符号体系(“RSS”)条形码一般工作良好。然而,这种投影成像扫描器对某些非UPC条形码(例如,码39和码128,以及二维条形码)表现不好。因此需要面扫描器来读取这种条形码。这种面扫描器一般需要专门的相机,相机被连接到处理接收到的条形码图像以对条形码识别和解码的计算机上。
位于光滑材料上的条形码也会给投影成像扫描器的性能造成问题。镜面反射或光源从表面反射进入扫描器的光学器件的强光常常会在读取这类条形码时造成困难。反射(Specular)盲区会遮挡条形码并阻止成像扫描器在初次尝试时读取条形码。
概要
本发明涉及一种用于读取光学代码的扫描器。该扫描器包括光发射系统和图像获取系统。光发射系统将光投射到目标上。图像获取系统接收从目标反射的光以生产目标的图像。图像获取系统被配置成接收以多个角度从目标反射的光,从而在目标的镜面反射与多个角度中的第一角度相关联时,来自多个角度中第二角度的光可以使与镜面反射相关联的图像退化最小化。

具体说明
本发明涉及一种能够读取编码数据的成像扫描器,尤其涉及一种用于扫描非UPC和二维条形码以及光滑材料上的条形码的扫描器。
图1和2示出了编码数据的一个示例性实施例。图1尤其示出了包括单行含编码数据(例如,信息)的平行条152的一维条形码150(例如,光学代码)。一维条形码150中所含的所有数据一般使用水平宽度进行解码。如本领域的技术人员所将理解的,增加一维条形码150的数据内容可以通过增加条形码150的宽度(例如,增加一条或多条平行条152)来实现。
图2示出了二维条形码250(例如,PDF 417类二维条形码)的一个示例性实施例。编码于二维条形码250中的数据使用水平和垂直两个维度。当编码更多的数据时,条形码250的大小可在水平和垂直两个发向上增加,因此保持可管理的形状以便于扫描。如本领域的技术人员所将理解的,二维条形码(例如,条形码250)不同于一维或线性条形码(例如,条形码150),因为它们具有数据内容更多、尺寸小、数据效率高的能力以及纠错能力。
图3A和3B示出了根据本发明的成像扫描器300的一个示例实施例。成像扫描器300包括任意形状和大小并适用于任何具体应用的外壳302。例如,该示例性实施例的外壳302可以被优化用于手持应用并包括一个手柄304。
成像扫描器300可包括可由任何基本透明的材料构成的窗口308。在一些示例性实施例中,窗口308可以是偏振材料。在外壳302内,成像扫描器300可包括第一照明源310和至少一个第二照明源312。第一照明源310与第二照明源312的组合可被称为光发射系统。照明源310/312中每一个可以是例如一系列发光二极管(“LED”)。
第一照明源310可引导第一总发向316上大部分的光而第二照明源312可引导第二总方向318上大部分的光。第一和第二方向316/318优选是不等的。例如,在第一方向316上发射的光可以与在第二方向318上发射的光以不同的角度(即,相对于窗口308)穿过窗口308。如本领域的技术人员所将理解的,自第一照明源310发射(例如,在方向316上)的光可因此以与自第二照明源312(例如,在方向318上)发射到相同表面上的光不同的反射角度被表面反射。
如图3A和3B所示,成像扫描器300还可包括相机320(例如,成像获取系统)。相机320例如可以是数码相机。相机320还可以是电荷耦合器件(“CCD”)。成像扫描器300可包括处理器(未示出)以处理由相机320接收到的信息(例如,图像)。
成像扫描器300可被用于解码或读取条形码350(例如,目标)中所存储/编码的数据/信息。成像扫描器300还可用于当存在镜面反射时读取条形码350。例如,第一和第二照明源310/312可交替地照明条形码350的画面。相机320可获取(即,接收信息自)条形码350的至少两(2)个不同画面。成像扫描器300的处理器可比较或缝合(stitch together)画面以解码存储在条形码350中的信息。
如本领域的技术人员所将理解的,镜面反射可以由存在预定阈值振幅之上的反射光来表征。反射光可在条形码350上构成相机320不能读取的反射盲区。因此,存储在条形码350中的某些或全部信息不能被解码。改变相机320、第一和第二照明源310/312、或条形码350的取向可以消除反射盲区。
对于由成像扫描器300读取的每个条形码350,成像扫描器300可获取至少两(2)幅画面:由第一照明源310照明的第一画面和由第二照明源312照明的第二画面。第一和第二画面可在同一时间或相继地获取。因此,如果一幅画面被反射盲区全部或部分遮挡,相机320可从另一幅画面接收信息以解码条形码350。然而,本发明的其它示例性实施例除非检测到存在镜面反射,否则仅在条形码350上照明一幅画面(例如,用第一照明源310)并用相机320获取该画面。
例如,成像扫描器的处理器可确定反射光的振幅何时大于预定的振幅阈值(例如,当存在镜面反射时)。处理器然后可关闭第一照明源310并开启第二照明源312以从不同的方向(例如,方向318)投射光。如本领域的技术人员所将理解的,使用第二照明源312以不同的方向318投射光可消除镜面反射。此外,仅在检测到镜面反射时使用第二照明源312和第二画面可允许用户更快速地连续扫描多幅条形码。
图4示出了根据本发明的成像扫描器400的另一实施例。成像扫描器400可包括外壳402以及可选手柄404。成像扫描器400还可包括可由任意基本透明的材料构成的窗口408。在外壳402内,成像扫描器400可包括可以是例如一系列LED的照明源410。照明源410可将第一总方向416上的大部分光引导到条形码450(例如,目标)。
成像扫描器400可包括可以是例如数码相机或CCD的相机420。成像扫描器400还可包括处理器(未示出)以处理由相机420接收到的信息/数据(例如,图像)。
成像扫描器400可包括第一反射镜414和第二反射镜415(例如,反射表面)。相机420与第一和第二反射镜414/416可位于外壳402中以允许相机420获取一幅包含条形码450的两(2)个不同视图(例如,拆分视图(split view))的画面。例如,相机420可记录包括第一视向424和第二视向426的拆分视图画面。如本领域的技术人员所将理解的,成像扫描器400可解码条形码450,而不管镜面反射在第一视向424或第二视向426中的哪个方向上遮挡视角。
图5A和5B示出了根据本发明的成像扫描器500的又一示例性实施例。类似于根据本发明的上述示例性实施例,成像扫描器500可包括外壳502、手柄504和窗口508。成像扫描器500可包括在第一方向516上向条形码550(例如,目标)投射光的第一照明源510(例如,一系列LED)。
图5A和5B所示的示例性实施例还包括第一相机520和第二相机522。第一相机520和第二相机522可被称为图像获取系统。第一和第二相机520/522(例如,图像获取系统)可以各自是例如数码相机或CCD。成像扫描器500还可包括处理器(未示出)以处理由相机520/522接收到的信息/数据(例如,图像)。第一相机520可接收第一视向524上的信息(例如,获取画面)而第二相机522可在第二视向526上接收信息。第一视向522优选地不同于第二视向526。
成像扫描器500可用于解码或读取条形码550。成像扫描器500还可用于在存在镜面反射时读取条形码550。例如,第一照明源510可照明条形码550。第一和第二相机520/522可以各自沿不同的视向524和526获取条形码550的画面。例如,条形码550的一部分可能相对于第一相机520被反射盲区遮挡(例如,条形码的一部分由于镜面反射而不能读取)。以不同的视向526获取画面的第二相机522不会被反射盲区所遮挡。因此,第二相机522可对条形码520在第一视向520上被反射盲区遮挡的那部分解码。处理器可比较或缝合(stitch together)画面以解码存储在条形码550中的信息。
在本发明的其它实施例中,成像扫描器500除非检测到镜面反射否则可仅在视向524上用第一相机520获取画面。例如,成像扫描器的处理器可确定反射光的振幅何时大于预定的振幅阈值(例如,当存在镜面反射时)。处理器然后可以关闭第一相机520并开启第二相机522,由此仅在方向526上获取画面。如本领域的技术人员所将理解的,使用第二相机522以及从不同的视向526获取画面可消除镜面反射。此外,仅在检测到镜面反射时使用第二相机522和第二画面可允许用户更快地连续扫描多幅条形码。
图6A和6B示出了根据本发明的成像扫描器600的另一示例性实施例。成像扫描器600包括任意形状和大小并适于特殊应用的外壳602。例如,该示例性实施例的外壳602可适用于手持式应用和表面安装的应用。成像扫描器600可包括通过至少一个旋转架606可旋转地连接到外壳602的基座604。成像扫描器600还可包括窗口608。
图6B示出了图6A的示例性成像扫描器600的剖面图。成像扫描器600可包括第一照明源610和至少一个第二照明源612。第一和第二照明源610/612各自可以是一系列LED。成像扫描器600还可包括反射镜614。第一和第二照明源610/612中的每一个可将光分别投射在反射镜614的第一部分和反射镜614的第二部分上。反射镜614可以第一方向616将来自第一照明源的光以及以第二方向618将来自第二照明源的光反射到条形码650(例如,目标)。第一方向616和第二方向618优选是不同的。例如,在第一方向616上发射的光可以与在第二方向618上发射的光不同的角度(即,相对于窗口608)穿过窗口608。
成像扫描器600可包括相机620和处理器(未示出)。相机620可置于外壳602中第一照明源610和第二照明源612之间。相机620可获取条形码650的画面(例如,从其接收信息)。如上所讨论的,相机620可获取条形码650由第一照明源610照明的一幅画面,或获取第一幅由第一照明源610照明、第二幅由第二照明源612照明的两幅画面。
图7示出了根据本发明的用于消除(或至少基本最小化)与镜面反射相关联的目标(例如,条形码、光学代码)的图像退化的示例性方法。以下所述和图7所示的示例性方法可通过上述及图3A、3B、4、5A、5B、6A和6B所示的扫描器的多个示例性实施例来应用和使用。
在步骤700,图像获取系统被配置成接收以多个角度从目标反射的光。例如,如图5A和5B所示,第一和第二相机520和522被放置成沿不同的视向524和526接收从条形码550反射的光。在上述图4所示的本发明的另一示例性实施例中,第一反射镜414和第二反射镜415以使得相机420可以不同的视向424和426接收来自条形码450的光的方式来放置。
在步骤702,光发射系统(例如,第一和第二照明源310、312)投射/照明目标(例如,条形码350)。在步骤704,扫描器的处理器确定是否有与多个角度中的第一组相关联的镜面反射。
如果没有镜面反射,扫描器的图像获取系统接收以多个角度中的第一组角度从目标反射的光(步骤706)。然而,如果有镜面反射,扫描器的图像获取系统接收(作为替代或添加)以多个角度中的第二组角度从目标反射的光从而使得与镜面反射相关联的图像退化可以被完全消除或者至少被基本最小化(步骤708)。在这种情况下,处理器可根据(i)以多个角度中的第二组角度从目标反射的光或(ii)以多个角度中的第一和第二组角度从目标反射的光生产目标的图像。例如,如果确定了第一方向524上条形码的镜面反射,则第二相机522接收从第二方向526反射自条形码550的光。
虽然已示出和说明了本发明的具体实施例,但是应该认识到对于本领域的技术人员可进行诸多修改和改变。因此需要理解的是,所附权利要求旨在覆盖落在本发明的精神实质和范围内的所有这些修改和改变。
Claims (18)
1.一种用于读取光学代码的扫描器,所述扫描器包括:
光发射系统,用于将光投射到目标上,所述目标包括所述光学代码;以及
图像获取系统,用于接收从所述目标反射的光以生成所述目标的图像,
其中,所述图像获取系统被配置成接收以多个角度从所述目标反射的光从而,当所述目标的镜面反射与所述多个角度中的第一角度相关联时,来自所述多个角度中的第二角度的光可用于最小化与所述镜面反射相关联的图像退化。
2.如权利要求1所述的扫描器,其特征在于,所述光发射系统包括第一和第二照明源,所述第一源以第一源角度向所述目标投射光,并且所述第二源以第二源角度向所述目标投射光。
3.如权利要求1所述的扫描器,其特征在于,所述图像获取系统包括彼此成一个角度定向的第一和第二相机。
4.如权利要求1所述的扫描器,其特征在于,所述图像获取系统包括相机,第一反射表面将从所述目标反射的、来自所述光发射系统的第一部分光以所述多个角度中的所述第一角度引向所述相机,将从所述目标反射的第二部分光以所述多个角度中的所述第二角度返回到所述相机。

7.如权利要求1所述的扫描器,其特征在于,还包括:
角度改变装置,移动所述图像获取系统的组件和所述光发射系统的组件中的至少一个以改变所述多个角度中所述第一和第二角度之间的角度。
8.如权利要求7所述的扫描器,其特征在于,还包括:
用于检测所述镜面反射的装置,其中在检测到所述镜面反射时所述角度改变装置改变所述角度。
9.如权利要求7所述的扫描器,其特征在于,所述角度改变装置移动所述图像获取系统和所述光发射系统以改变所述角度。
10.一种用扫描器读取光学代码的方法,所述方法包括以下步骤:
将来自光发射系统的光投射到包括所述光学代码的目标上;以及
分析以多个角度从所述目标接收的光以最小化读取所述光学代码时镜面反射的影响。
11.如权利要求10所述的方法,其特征在于,所述光由配置成以多个角度接收从所述目标反射的光的图像获取系统从所述目标接收。
12.如权利要求10所述的方法,其特征在于,还包括以下步骤:
确定镜面反射是否与以多个角度中的第一角度从所述目标接收到的光相关联,
其中,当镜面反射与以所述第一角度从所述目标接收到的光相关联时,所述分析步骤包括分析以所述多个角度中的第二角度接收到的光以读取所述光学代码的子步骤。
13.如权利要求10所述的方法,其特征在于,光由所述光发射系统以多个源角度投射到所述目标上。
14.如权利要求11所述的方法,其特征在于,还包括以下步骤:
在从所述目标接收到的第二部分光以第二角度传到所述图像获取系统时,以第一角度将从所述目标接收到的第一部分光变向到所述图像获取系统。
15.如权利要求11所述的方法,其特征在于,所述图像获取系统包括多个相机,所述相机中的至少第一和第二相机彼此成一个角度地定向。
16.如权利要求10所述的方法,其特征在于,还包括以下步骤:
在扫描期间重新定向所述扫描器的至少一部分以改变从所述目标接收光的角度。
17.如权利要求10所述的方法,其特征在于,所述光学代码是条形码。
