Une forme d'exécution de l'objet de l'in vention est- représentée, à titre d'exemple, au dessin annexé, dans lequel: Fig. 1 est une élévation de face de l'outil, représenté tenu dans la main de l'opérateur, prêt à faire un noeud; Fig. 2, 3, 4, 5 et 6 sont, respectivement et à plus grande échelle, une élévation de face, une élévation du côté droit, une éléva- vation d'arrière, une élévation du côté gauche et un plan de l'outil, représentant toutes les parties dans la position préparatoire -pour la formation d'un nmud;
Fig. 7 est une élévation de face de l'outil, certaines parties étant enlevées; Fig. 8 et 9 sont des élévations d'arrière et de côté d'une pièce oscillante, fourchue, faisant partie de l'outil; Fig. 10 est une élévation latérale d'un séparateur de fils et d'un pince-fils, combinés; Fig. 11, 12 et 13 sont des élévations la térales de pièces séparées de l'outil;
Fig. 14 est une élévation latérale, partie en coupe, d'une monture tubulaire et d'un pignon pour un bec noueur; Fig. 15 et 16 sont des élévations, prises de l'intérieur, de deux sections du bec noueur, ces figures représentant également des éléva tions en bout desdites sections et fig. 15 re présentant en outre une mâchoire mobile du bec noueur; Fig. 16s est une coupe de l'extrémité de travail du bec noueur;
D'ailleurs, lorsque l'outil est fermé, la détente v du séparateur faisant ressort porte contre le côté gauche de la fourche x. Dans l'introduction des fils dans les fourches en ce qui concerne la pièce h: le fil A qui se trouve à la gauche du sépa rateur est empêché de descendre davantage pâr la détente v à l'endroit où celle-ci porte le côté gauche de la fourche x et le fil B descend dans l'ouverture y dans laquelle il est dévié par le bord z' du levier z, les deux fils se trouvant ensemble dans l'encoche entre 5 et 6; en ce qui concerne le manche a;
Tool for binding wires, strings etc. by a weaver's knot. The present invention relates to a tool for binding threads, strings etc. by a weaver's knot, as it is in particular used in the textile industry, for example for winding the threads of small spools on. large coils. In this case, the ends of the thread must be connected and, for this, the weaver's knot is the most suitable in consideration of the subsequent use of the threads.
Known devices for connecting threads with a weaver's knot are very complicated both from the point of view of their construction and their handling and occupy too much of the hands of the worker who uses them, for the handling of the ends. sons. On the contrary, the tool according to the present invention is distinguished by an excessively simple manual.
This is achieved by starting from a simple crossing of threads which is brought into the range of action of a knotting member. The crossing of the wires can be carried out by simply inserting the ends of the wire in a fixed guide device of the tool, so that the worker only has to press with the fingers, with which he holds the tool. , the threads to be connected against the handle of the tool and grasp the two ends of the threads with the other hand and introduce them into the tool, and then put the knotter member in motion, interlacing the threads and the formation of the knot then taking place without further action in the desired manner.
One embodiment of the object of the invention is shown, by way of example, in the accompanying drawing, in which: FIG. 1 is a front elevation of the tool, shown held in the operator's hand, ready to tie a knot; Fig. 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 are, respectively and on a larger scale, a front elevation, a right side elevation, a rear elevation, a left side elevation and an implement plane, representing all parts in the preparatory position -for the formation of a nmud;
Fig. 7 is a front elevation of the tool with parts removed; Fig. 8 and 9 are rear and side elevations of a swinging, forked piece forming part of the tool; Fig. 10 is a side elevation of a combined thread separator and thread clamp; Fig. 11, 12 and 13 are side elevations of separate parts of the tool;
Fig. 14 is a side elevation, partly in section, of a tubular frame and pinion for a knotter nose; Fig. 15 and 16 are elevations, taken from the inside, of two sections of the knotter nose, these figures also showing elevations at the end of said sections and fig. 15 re further presenting a movable jaw of the knotter spout; Fig. 16s is a section through the working end of the knotter nozzle;
Fig. 17 shows, in longitudinal section and in end elevation, a cam which controls the movable jaw of this nozzle; Fig. 18 shows, in front and side elevation, a fixed blade; Fig. 19 and 20 are details on a larger scale showing, respectively, the tool in side elevation (part in section according to 19-19 fig. 2) and in horizontal section according to 20-20 fig. 2; Fig. 21 to 24 represent the successive phases of the formation of a knot, and Fig. 25 represents the finished node.
The tool is constructed as follows: A blade-shaped handle a has rearward extending ears b and its upper end is angled at a 'so as to lie out of the plane of its portion. lower; this handle also has, on its upper left side, a vertical front wall c. The main shaft d is journalled in the ears b and on this shaft pivots a loop e through which and a loop f provided at the lower end of the handle, a belt g has been passed to loop the tool on the hand left of whoever uses it, as shown in fig. 1.
lt designates a blade-shaped piece of which the upper end is curved backwards while its lower end has posterior ears i which pass through slits j in the handle a < / I> (fig. 2) and in which passes the shaft cl on which the part h is thus mounted so as to be able to pivot. On the left side of this part h is an arm k extending backwards, provided with a lateral ankle l (fig. 8 and 9).
At the right and left ends, respectively, of the shaft d are fixed the control arm or handle m and a sector n, the latter having a slot in the arc of a circle o receiving the ankle l and thus allowing a certain movement sector, in one direction or the other, before the part is rotated by him on its pivot. The upper limit of the movement of the parts (closed or starting position) is determined by the contact of the part h with the handle a and the front end of the slot o with the ankle l; the lower limit (open position) is by the contact of the rear end of the slot in question with the ankle and of the piece the with the lower end of the left slot j of handle a.
The upper end of the handle is in the form of a fork p (fig. 7) having convex sides, the narrowest part of the fork lying roughly in the middle of the blade, in the transverse direction; the fork communicates with its lower part, with an opening q which extends to the right. There is shown in FIG. 10 (see also Fig. 4) a part comprising a plate r which has a forked clamp s extending rearwardly, the top of this plate r forming a horizontal table t.
On this table t rises a vertical separator blade u inclined towards the front and provided with a hanging trigger v laterally displaced and making a spring which is secured to the back of the handle a by a screw? O , so that the separator u shares the angle formed by the fork p and the table. is on the right.
Part h also has a fork (fig. 2 and 8) having convex sides, the narrowest part of the fork being moved a little to the right of said part, so that the narrowest parts of the forks p and x are not opposite, that is to say are displaced with respect to each other; the fork x communicates at its lower part - with an opening y which faces to the left (fig. 2).
A lever z (fig. 2, 3, and 11) pivots at 2 on part h and its extreme upper part goes from a point close to the left end of the opening y and from bottom to top, towards the straight line, its edge z 'forming a convex curve and crossing the opening and the fork; this lever has only a slight movement, limited by the engagement of its ears 3 and 4 with the right side of the part h and the left side of the right slot j, respectively.
When forming the cross, or crossing the threads, (the piece h being in the fully closed position) the two threads are held by pressing the fingers of the left hand against the flat front of the handle a and the right hand is used to separate the wires using the separator u, then to lower their free ends along the back of the tool, into the socket of the collet s. We can notice here that, between a presser foot 5 of the lever z and a pile 6, provided on the handle (foot and pile which cooperate to grab the threads and then tear off the slip knot of the knotter spout) a notch will be formed to the sons.
Moreover, when the tool is closed, the trigger v of the spring separator bears against the left side of the fork x. When inserting the wires into the forks with regard to part h: wire A which is to the left of the separator is prevented from descending further by the trigger v where it bears the left side of the fork x and the wire B goes down into the opening y in which it is deflected by the edge z 'of the lever z, the two wires being together in the notch between 5 and 6; with regard to the handle a;
the wire A. which enters the fork p on the left of the separator, moves to the right in the opening q under the part forming the table t (because the receiving clamp s has moved a little to the right of the tool, fig . 6) and wire B, which is on the right side of the separator, rests on the table t.
Looking at figs. 20 and 21, and in particular FIG. 20, it will be seen that, in the final position of the son, the. Thread B has undergone a relatively small deviation from the crosshair formed, but thread A runs to the left, from where it descends. has been stopped by the trigger, and goes over and around wire B and then come back to the right. A cross is thus formed, the front and rear V of which are designated, in FIG. 20 by X and X ", respectively.
In the wall c is screwed a long span 7 in which turns a sleeve 8 having, at its internal end, a pinion 9. The two sections 10 and 11 of the knotter nose are secured in this sleeve by a pin passing through the holes 12 exist both in these three parts. The free ends of the sections are tapered and turned to the side and the edge 10 'of the section 10 is blunt while the edge 11' of the section 11 is bevelled to form a sharp edge. In the slot existing between the sections 10-11, is mounted on a pivot a jaw 13 following, in side elevation, the shape of the end parts of this sections and having, at its internal end, a T-head, 14.
The convex edge of the jaw is bevelled on one of the sides (that adjacent to section 11 of the beak) so as to constitute a sharp edge and, on the other side, it is rounded or blunt. It will be seen, by examining fig. 1611, that if a wire is interposed between the ends of the sections of the beak while the jaw is open and if this jaw then closes, the wire will be cut by 11 and 13 and pinched between 10 and 13 while being by that same grasped. The tip or free end of the spout rotates in a vertical plane. passing through the point of the V X 'X "of the cross.
On the nose, between the pinion 9 and the head 14 of the jaw, turns a cam 15 whose active surfaces bear against this head and which has an arm 16 which does not allow it, by its contact with the stops 17 and 18 (fig. .7), to make only a fraction of a turn. Since the cam abuts on the one hand, against the pinion and, on the other hand, against the head 14 of the jaw 13, the cam will rotate with the beak until its rotation is stopped by one of the stops in question and, after that, it will obviously force the jaw to swing. A transmission pinion 20 which meshes with pinion 9 and whose hub has a flat 21 (fig. 13) is journalled on an axis 19, located behind the bearing surface 7. Sector n is provided with teeth 22 which mesh with the teeth of pinion 20.
When the sector oscillates forward, it transmits a rotational movement, via the pinions 20 and 9, to the knotter nose; the teeth 22, in the movement of the sector forward, disengage from the transmission pinion before the sector has finished its movement and, to prevent the knotter from turning during the remainder of this movement, a shoe 23 carried by the sector and concentric with the shaft d comes to bear on the flat 21 of the pinion hub 20. As best shown in FIG. 4, the periphery of the sector covers the pinion 9 to prevent the latter and its sleeve 8 from moving from out to in and out of the bearing 7.
A U-shaped plate 24 (Fig. 18) having a vertical sharp edge 25 is secured to the handle a so that its sharp edge is just to the right of the opening q (Fig.7); in this plate, an angled lever is journalled, one of the arms 26 of which is engaged in a slot-cam 27, made in the sector n, while its other arm oscillates like a shear blade with respect to the edge 12 and is beveled (fig. 21 and 24) to cooperate with the latter in order to cut the wire.
When the lower end 4 of the lever x is at one end or the other of the slot j, this lever is free, the ends in question of this slot having recesses 29 to provide clearance or play. necessary; but, when the part 1a is between the limits of its oscillating movement and, consequently, the end 4 of the lever z is between the ends of the slot, the left side of the latter pushes back. right the lower end of the lever, so that, in 5, it will press the threads against the pile 6 and, thus will grab them. The left side of the slot j therefore constitutes a cam for lever control.
By the means explained (fig. 19-25), there is first formed in the threads a cross of a kind such that each thread crosses and re-crosses the other; the particular arrangement, represented by the plan views of the crossing of threads (fig. 20 and 21) comprises a wire A extending from the right of a wire B (when the tool is held in the active position in the hand of the person who uses it (fig. 1) over and under wire B to return to the right.
As explained, the knotter nose, which can rotate on a horizontal axis, at its free end turned sideways and tapered and it is also split to form halves constituting the counterpart of each other, between which pivot a jaw, which ultimately cooperates with the beak to cut one of the threads (B) and hold it to tighten the knot. The spout rotates in the direction of the arrow in fig. 19, its starting position being, as shown in this figure, that where it extends from front to back and down, under the rear V of the cross or cross of threads.
Fig. 22 represents the knotter beak after it has made a little more than three-quarters of a turn, its end or tapered point having first penetrated into the Varriére of the cross, then into the V before, and thus having formed the loop t1 '(see also fig. 25). The jaw 13 of the beak, at the beginning completely enclosed between the halves of the beak, as seen in fig. 24 is in this position, more or less open, being between the loop a. ' and the free end of the beak.
When the nozzle has made a little more than one full turn, a lever arm 28 has brought the thread .t1 to the right of the free end of the nozzle and across it, (fig. 23) so that this thread, during a continuation of the rotation of the beak, will not be between the jaw 13 and the beak and will not be cut or held by them. However, the wire .B remains vertically above the space existing between the open jaw and the beak, so that when the beak has completed about a quarter turn and the jaw then closes; it will be cut and held by the cooperation of this jaw and the beak, which then ensues.
The thus cut end of wire B should now be passed first under both parts of wire A, extending from its loop A ', then between the loop and wire B, as in fig. 25, to form loop B '. This is done by sliding on thread B (still held at its end cut by the swivel spout) of the slip knot that was formed with thread A on the swivel spout, as follows:
while the, bec makes another quarter of a turn to reach the limit of its movement (where it is directed forward) some means begin to act to pull forward on the two threads ( the thread A having, in the meantime, been cut at a point situated behind the nozzle) which results in the slip knot in question slipping on the end part of the thread B, held by the nozzle and is finally tightened, which give the desired node.
The preceding sketch of the formation of a node will facilitate the understanding of the functioning of the mechanisms which execute it.
The operation of the device is as follows: If the handle m is rotated to the position shown in dotted lines in fig. 3, the sector n at the moment when the rear end of the slot o engages the pin 1, picks up the forked piece h and brings it to the position shown in dotted lines in FIG. 3. It is the working race of the parties. In the return stroke, the handle and the sector return empty until the front end of the slot o meets the peg 1; then, the forked part h is brought back to the formed or starting position. How to form the cross of threads has already been explained.
As soon as the forked part h begins to move forward with the sector n, in the working stroke, the lever z. is moved by the cam side of the slot j to grasp the front end of the two threads between 5 and 6 and thus pull them forward; on the back of the tool, they are held by the clamp s. This pulling on the front end of the two threads pulls the slip knot which has been formed on it from the swivel beak and tightens this slip knot after the thread A has been cut 28, 25 and while the thread B previously cut, is still held by the swivel beak and, finally, this releases the joined or attached threads from the beak.
After this release, and as soon as the for mant cam side of the slot j ceases to act on the lever z (front position of the part h), the wires joined together, or attached, can be easily removed from the fork of the part h.
The cog connecting the nozzle and the sector -a obliges the first to start turning as soon as the handle is lowered; the rotation continues (the hook making, in all, a little more than a turn and a half) well after the part h has started to advance; stopping as soon as the gear teeth 22 abandon the pin \ 20; after that, the latter and the hook are immobilized by the engagement of the shoe 23 with the flat 21 of the hub of said pinion.
The cam 15 (due to the fact that its arm plays between the spaced stops 17-l8) can only make a small fraction of a turn with the beak which, due to the frictional engagement of the head 14 of its jaw and of the pinion 9 with the cam, drives this cam until it is stopped by the stop 17; the cam being thus stopped, the continuation of the rotation of the beak obviously effects the opening and closing movement of the jaw. (In the previous reminder of the parts at the starting point, after making a knot, the arm 16 of the cam had been left pressed against the stop 18, after closing the jaw).
The opening of the jaw begins after the tip of the beak has penetrated first into the V designated by X 'then in the V designated by X "and the jaw is more or less fully open, holding the loop A' , which was formed, on the beak, at about the position occupied by the latter in Fig. 22. In Fig. 23, the beak has made another quarter turn and the jaw is still holding the loop A on the beak.
As the beak continues to rotate from this position, the jaw closes, and at about the time the beak is directed upward, the jaw cooperates with the sections of the hook: first to cut wire B, then to grab it. As the nozzle then spins forward, the part h pulls forward on the threads (thread A having been cut as will be explained) so that the slip knot formed begins to be pulled from the nozzle.
The nozzle then stops rotating due to the engagement of the shoe 23 with the flat 21 of the hub of the pinion 20 and the part h, still in motion, pulls the slip knot of the nozzle and, as the latter still holds the cut end of thread B, tightens the slip knot to form the finished knot and, finally, removes this cut end of the thread from the nose plug.
The movement of the lever 26-28 under the action of the slot-cam 27 begins as soon as the sector n begins to move and its arm 28 is released, and to the right, of the tip of the beak, holding the wire. across the beak and its jaw in the position of the parts shown in FIG. 23. This lever then remains virtually stationary until after thread B has been cut and just before the slip knot has to be pulled from the spout; after that the slit catcher 27 sets it back in motion to the right so that the arm 28 and the cutting edge 25 cooperate to cut the wire A.
The wire A is allowed to relax sufficiently so as not to be stretched and not offer resistance to the moving action of the lever arm 28 because, immediately after the part has released the trigger v, the stop offered by the latter to the descent of said faulty wire and the wire falls, loose in the opening y.
It will be seen, by referring to FIGS. 21 to 23, that in the making of such a knot, in particular, that it was specified (a weaver's knot), although the mechanism shown develops the loop A ', the beak passes, in fact, a part of one of the threads (B, for example) close to the crossing point, around the two parts of the other thread (A) neighboring the crossing point and between the first thread and said parts of the The other thread (fig. 25) in the actual adaptation shown and described, after having already cut this first thread (B).
As for the crossing of threads forming part of the invention, this involves thread stops (like the table t, on the one hand, and that offered at the place where the trigger v abuts against one of the sides of the fork x, on the other hand), placed one in front of the other and against which the wires are respectively capable of bearing, means for guiding the rails to the wire stops and a clearance offered to one of the wires (as the opening y or q), for its displacement, laterally, under the wire stop for the other wire; in the actual arrangement set out above, where one of the threads is made to cross and re-cross the other, this clearance is applied to each thread.
