Abstract

The setting (2) of the stone is mounted on an axle (1) which is moved by an electric motor. A protective sleeve (3) round the axle is driven into, or bonded in, a cavity (4) hollowed out of the setting, after the stone has been set in the setting. A shoulder (5) is made round the part of the setting in which the tube is inserted and a decorative plate, visible from the outside, can be fixed to this. The electric motor is preferably a stepping type and is supplied by batteries in the jewellry. USE - The jewellry has a stone that is rotated.

Description

   DESCRIPTION

   DESCRIPTION

Jewelry is already known, some parts of which are mobile.

However, there is no jewelry with gemstones set on a rotary axis.

The object of the present inventions is to provide such a piece of jewelry and a method of mounting such a piece of jewelry.

Another object of the invention is to provide such a jewel in which the movement of the set stone is jerky, and in which the fixing of the setting on the axis is fine and secure.

The inventions are described in claims 1 and 7.

The drawing shows, by way of example, an embodiment of the invention.

The drawing is a schematic vertical section of a crimp mounted on a rotary axis.

The crimp 2 is mounted on an axis 1 by means of a protective tube 3. This tube is expelled into a cavity 4 formed in the bottom of the crimp. A clearance 5 is made, for example by turning, around the part of the crimp in which the tube is driven. This clearance makes it possible to fix, for example, a decorative plate, also rotating and visible from the outside.

The presence of the protective tube 3 can be important when the crimp must be very fine. This is often the case in luxury jewelry. The cavity 4 which allows the insertion of the axis 1, as well as the clearance 5 which allows the fixing of a decorative plate, leaves little material around the axis: this material, which forms a tube integral with the crimp , can be deformed during the stone setting operation, which is done by deformation of the claws. One solution to avoid such deformation would be to machine the clearance 5 and the cavity 4 after the crimping operation. However, it is difficult to machine a crimp once the part is crimped. The deformation of the cavity obviously harms the solidity and the centering of the fixing of the crimp to the axis.

The protective tube 3, machined to the exact dimensions of the axis, overcomes this drawback: even if the cavity 4 is deformed, the tube can be fixed there. As it itself corresponds to the diameter of the axis, the attachment remains solid. The tube can be fixed in the cavity, for example, by gluing; but, preferably, the tube will be driven into the cavity.

The insertion of the tube into the cavity will therefore be done after the crimping operation, the latter being able to be done without risk or particular care.

The axis of the crimp is rotated by an electric motor which is not shown here. This motor is powered by batteries inserted in the jewel. In order to obtain a more striking aesthetic effect, the motor is of the stepping type. In this way, the setting turns in leaps and thus emits intermittent reflections.
