Particularly good azo compounds are those in which R1 is the cyano group, or those in which R2 is an alkyl or phenyl radical, or in particular those in which R1 is the cyano group and R2 is an alkyl or phenyl radical and R is a low molecular weight alkyl radical.
The new azo compounds are used for dyeing or printing fibers, threads or textiles made from them, which consist of or contain acrylonitrile polymers or copolymers, or textile material made from homopolymers or copolymers of acrylonitrile or dicyanoethylene.
The new azo compounds are also used for coloring.
Padding or printing of synthetic polyamides or synthetic polyesters which are modified by acidic groups. Such polyamides are known, for example, from Belgian patent specification 7 () 6,104. The corresponding polyesters are known from US patent specifications 3 Ol X 272 or 3,379,723. In general, dyeing is particularly advantageous in an aqueous, neutral or acidic medium at temperatures of 60-100 ° C. or at temperatures above 100 ° C. under pressure. Very level colorations are obtained here even without the use of retarders. Mixed fabrics which contain a proportion of polyacrylonitrile fibers can also be dyed very well.
Those dyes which have good solubility in organic solvents are also suitable for coloring natural plastic compositions or dissolved or undissolved plastic or natural resin compositions. It has been shown that mixtures of two or more of the new dyes or mixtures with other cationic dyes can also advantageously be used; i.e. they are easy to combine.
They are also used to color plastic masses or leather or to color paper.
In particular on acrylonitrile polymers or copolymers, but also on other substrates, level dyeings with good lightfastness and good wetfastnesses are obtained.
The high color strength of the new azo compounds is particularly noteworthy.
Compared to the closest comparable dyes from Belgian patent 733 186, the azo compounds of the formula (1), also colored on polyacrylonitrile, are significantly stronger in color and have better lightfastness.
The dyeings obtained with the azo compounds of the formula (I) have good washing, perspiration and sublimation properties.
Pleated, decatur, ironing, steam, water, sea water, dry cleaning, over-dyeing and solvent fastness; They also have good salt tolerance and are readily soluble, especially in water; In addition, the azo compounds have good pH stability and fastness to boiling and reserve natural and synthetic polyamides.
It is believed that the compounds of formula (I) are in a tautomeric state, e.g. through the formulas
EMI2.3
is marked.
In the cationic compounds of formula (I) the anion Ae can be exchanged for other anions, e.g. with the aid of an ion exchanger or by reaction with salts or acids, optionally in several stages, e.g. via the hydroxide or via the bicarbonate.
The anion As is to be understood as meaning both organic and inorganic ions, e.g. Halogen, such as chloride, bromide or iodide, sulfate, disulfate, methyl sulfate, aminosulfonate, perchlorate, carbonate, bicarbonate, phosphate, phosphorus molybdate, phosphotungstate, phosphotungstolybdate, benzenesulfonate, naphthalene sulfonate, 4-chlorobenzenesulfonate, oxalate, maleate, acetate, propionate, lactate, succinate, chloroacetate, tartrate, malate, methanesulfonate, or benzoate ions or complex anions, such as that of zinc chloride double salts.
Halogen is in any case to be understood as meaning bromine, fluorine or iodine, but preferably chlorine. Hydrocarbon radicals are, for example, optionally substituted alkyl, such as cycloalkyl radicals or optionally substituted aryl radicals, e.g. Cyclohexyl, alkylcyclohexyl or phenyl radicals.
Alkyl radicals, e.g. straight-chain or branched alkyl radicals usually contain 1 to 12, or 1 to 6 and preferably 1, 2, 3 or 4 carbon atoms. If these radicals are substituted, they contain in particular halogen atoms, hydroxyl or cyano groups, or e.g. protonizable amino groups or aryl radicals, such as, for example, phenyl radicals; In such cases, alkyl stands for an aralkyl radical, e.g. a benzyl radical. Alkoxy radicals contain, for example, 1 to 6 and preferably 1, 2 or 3 carbon atoms.
Protonizable groups are to be understood as meaning those nitrogen-containing radicals which attach a proton in an acid medium, in particular a mineral acid medium, i.e.
which can form salts with the addition of a proton.
In order to check this protonizability, this should be understood to mean the ability, by attachment, e.g. a mineral acid such as hydrochloric acid to a nitrogen atom to make the dye water soluble.
The radicals R3 and R4 together with the adjacent N atom can form a heterocycle, e.g. one
P! rrolidine-. Piperazine-. Morpholine, aziridine or piperidine ring. The radical R3 can together with R5 and / or the radical R4 together with Rt and the substituents adjacent to these
N atoms form a saturated or unsaturated, advantageously 5 or 6-membered heterocycle, for example one
Pyrazolidine, pyridazine or pyrazoline ring, e.g. Trimethylene
Pyrazolidine or tetramethylpyrazoline, etc.
I) he radicals R 1 and R ″ can form a heterocycle together with the hard n N atom, for example a pyrrolidine, piperidine, morpholine, aziridine or
Piperazine ring.
The radicals R7, R8 and R9 together with the adjacent N atom can form a heterocycle, e.g. a group of the formula
EMI3.1
or stand for a pyridinium radical.
Heterocyclic radicals and the groups of the formula
EMI3.2
stand, for example, for the residues of saturated or partially saturated. or unsaturated, optionally substituted multi-membered rings, preferably 5- or 6-membered rings. which optionally further cycloaliphatic. heterocyclic or aromatic rings can be fused. These groups can therefore e.g. for a ryridine, quinoline, piperidine, pyrrolidine, morpholine, aziridine, piperazine, isoquinoline, tetrahydroquinoline. Pyrazole-. Triazole. Pyridazine, imidazole. Pyrimidine-.
Thiazole, benzothiazole. Thiadiazole, indazole, imidazole, pyrrole. Indole, oxazole, isoxazole, pyrazoline. Thiophene or tetrazole ring, etc. stand.
Alkylene radicals can have, for example, from 1 to 12 or from 1 to 6 carbon atoms. where these radicals can be straight-chain or branched and / or interrupted by heteroatoms or heteroatom groups. e.g. by -0-. -S-.
EMI3.3
where R3 (, a hydrogen atom or an optionally substituted hydrocarbon radical.
An optionally substituted amino group can be a primary, secondary or tertiary amino group.
Substituents of amino groups are, for example, alkyl or aralkyl radicals. such as. Cycloalkyl radicals or aryl radicals, such as, for example, phenyl radicals.
The coupling of diazotized amines of the formula (IV) with the corresponding coupling components can be carried out by the customary methods, e.g. in neutral to acidic aqueous medium, optionally in the presence of a buffer and at temperatures around 0 C.
Preferred etherified hydroxylamines are, for example, those mentioned below:
EMI3.4
EMI4.1
The coupling components of the formula (II) can be prepared by the methods of. Guareschi, Atti Accad. R. d.
Scienze di Torino, 1895/96, special edition. see. also Ber. d. German
chem. Ges. 29 (1896) p. 655; Chem. Zentr. 1896, 1 602; 1896, II, 46 and Umaprasynna Basu, lourn Indian Chem. Soc. Vol VIII, (1931) pp 319-328, by condensation of corresponding, optionally substituted acetic acid amides or acetic acid hydrazides with appropriately substituted ketocarboxylic acid esters. It is advantageous to use the dyes obtained in sterile solid dye preparations or in concentrated aqueous dyes. transferring stable dye solutions.
In the following examples, the parts are parts by weight and the percentages are percentages by weight: the temperatures are in degrees Celsius.
example 1
16.64 parts of 4-amino-2'.4'-dinitro-1. I '-diphenylamine are suspended in 300 parts of 4% hydrochloric acid and heated over the course of 2 hours at 0-5 by adding 4.7 parts of sodium nitrite, dissolved in 35 parts of water. diazotized.
An aqueous solution is then added to the present diazo suspension within 30 minutes. consisting of 22 parts of 3-cyano-6-hydroxy-4-methyl-I- (3'-trimethylammonium) propyl-pyridone- (2) methyl sulfate and 85 parts of water, add dropwise and stir at 0-5 9 until the coupling is done. The mixture is then heated to 50 ° C., sodium chloride is added and the dyestuff which has crystallized out is filtered off. The water-soluble brown powder is dried and ground. The dye stains polyacrylonitrile in excellent, true orange tones.
Example 2
14.15 parts of 1-amino-3-chloro-4-methylhenzene are diazotized in 200 parts of 6% hydrochloric acid at 0 with 6.9 parts of sodium nitrite. A solution is added to the ice-cold diazo solution over the course of an hour. Consisting of 35 parts of 3 cyano-6-hydroxy-4-methyl-1 - (2'-methylammonium) ethylpyridone (2) methyl sulfate and 135 parts of water and stirs at () -5 until the coupling has ended.
The reaction mass is then heated to 35 °, sodium chloride is added and the dyestuff which has crystallized out is filtered off. It is made of polyacrylonitrile in real yellow tones with excellent lightfastness and wetfastness.
Dyeing instructions 7 () parts of the dye from Example 1 are mixed with XO parts of dextrin in a ball mill for 48 hours: 1 part of the preparation thus obtained is made into a paste with 1 part of 40% vinegar, 200 parts of demineralized water are poured over the pulp and briefly boiled up. Dilute with 700 () parts of demineralized water. adds 2 parts of glacial acetic acid and goes into the bath at 60 with 100 parts of polyacrylonitrile threads. The material can be pretreated beforehand for 10 to 15 minutes at 60 in a bath consisting of 8000 parts of water and 2 parts of glacial acetic acid.
The mixture is heated to 98-100 within 30 minutes, cooked for 12 hours and rinsed. An orange dyeing with good light fastness and good wet fastness properties is obtained.
