Device for performing differential measurements
The subject of the present invention is a device for performing differential measurements, for example measurements of eccentricity, of ovality or of parallelism defect. This device is characterized in that it comprises a base intended to be fixed in a fixed position relative to a support of the part to be measured, a comparator support mounted movably on this base and biased, by return means, towards a rest position, a comparator fixed to this support, a stop on the comparator body to limit in one direction the movement of the feeler of this comparator, a friction mechanism of the irreversible type, arranged, on the one hand, to leave s '' move the comparator support and with it the comparator freely from its rest position,
when pressure is exerted on the probe in the direction in which this probe is in contact with the aforementioned stop, and on the other hand, to prevent, due to the aforesaid irreversibility, any return movement of this support towards its initial rest position, when this pressure disappears, and means for rendering this friction mechanism inactive and thus allowing the comparator support to return to the rest position.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the device according to the invention.
Fig. 1 is a view in longitudinal section.
Fig. 2 is a plan view corresponding to FIG. 1.
The device comprises a base 1 intended to be fixed on a support, not shown, intended to successively receive parts whose eccentricity is to be measured, for example.
This base must simply occupy a well-defined position relative to the part to be measured.
The device also comprises a comparator support 2 3 fixed to it. This support is mounted oscillating on the base 1, by means of an elastic blade 21. I1 is shown in its extreme rest position.
The comparator comprises, as is well known, a feeler 4 located at one end of a lever 5 oscillating at 6 and actuating the indicator (not shown) housed in a housing 7, thanks to a toothed sector 8 of this lever cooperating with a gear train.
This comparator is unique in that it has a screw stop 9 limiting the movement of the probe 4 in one direction. The comparator return spring acts on the lever 5 in the direction in which the probe tends to move away from the stop 9. This probe has been shown in FIG. 1, in the position it occupies when it cooperates with a piece to be measured and when the latter exerts a force on it, in the direction of arrow 10, forcing it to make contact with the stop 9.
The device further comprises a friction mechanism which will now be described. This mechanism is of the so-called irreversible type and comprises a first plane 11 integral with the base 1 and a second plane 12 integral with the support 2 and arranged opposite the first plane 11. Considered in the longitudinal plane of the device, which is the plane d 'oscillation of the support 2 on the base 1, these two planes form a certain angle. This mechanism also comprises a locking member 13 formed by a spherical head arranged between the planes 11 and 12. This head is fixed to one end of a sliding rod 14 subjected to the action of a spring 15 urging the ball towards the end. vertex of the angle formed by the planes 1 1 and 12.
Thus, the head 13 constantly makes contact with these two planes and limits their coming together. If the angle formed by the planes 11, 12 opens, the head 13 moves under the action of the spring 15 to remain in contact with these planes; it will oppose any decrease in this angle. The angle in question always remains small enough to ensure the irreversibility of the mechanism.
The device also comprises means for making the friction mechanism that has just been described inactive. These means are constituted by a pusher 16 provided to act axially on the rod 14 in the direction opposite to the action of the spring 15. Under the action of the pusher 16, the head 13 moves away from the apex of the angle formed by the planes 11, 12, thus allowing a reduction of this angle.
The operation of the device is as follows:
The comparator support being in its rest position, a part to be measured is placed facing the probe 4 and in contact with it. This part is rotated around an axis 17 perpendicular to the plane of FIG. 1 and located below the feeler in this figure.
The piece to be measured puts pressure on the probe and applies it to the stop 9. During the rotation of the part around the axis 17, any increase in the radius with respect to 17 forces the probe to deviate from 17 , which has the effect of making the comparator and its support 2 oscillate, relative to the base 1, by bending the elastic blade, in the direction of a greater opening of the angle between them the planes 1 1 and 12. The support 2 therefore departs from its rest position. If the radius then decreases, the spherical head 13 immobilizes the comparator support due to the irreversibility of the mechanism and this regardless of the force which tends to bring 1 1 and 12 closer together. Any return of the support to its initial position of rest is impossible.
Thus, after a complete turn, this support, with the comparator, are immobilized in the extreme position corresponding to the maximum radius of the part with respect to 17. In this position of the support, the probe is free to move away from the stop. 9, under the action of the comparator return spring. The latter will therefore continuously measure the differences in the radius of the part (compared to 17), counted from the maximum radius. The eccentricity will thus be read on the comparator scale. After the measurement, the measured part is removed and the components are returned to their initial position by acting on the pusher. The self-weight of the support 2 and of the comparator 3, with the elastic blade 21, constitute the means for returning this support to the rest position.
The comparator is provided with an electrical contact 18, adjustable by means of an adjustment member 19 and controlled by a finger 20 integral with the lever 5. This contact is used to actuate a light signal as soon as the maximum tolerated eccentricity is reached.
Advantageously, provision will be made for a mechanical drive of the part to be measured and an electrical signaling and control box ensuring, on the one hand, the automatic actuation of the push-button 16 when the part to be measured is in place for the measurement and, on the other hand. apart, keeping the tolerance exceeded signal on until the end of the operating cycle relating to the part being measured.
It is easy to understand that the device described can be used for relative measurements other than eccentricities, for example ovalizations and parallelism defects. In the latter case, it goes without saying that the part to be measured, instead of being subjected, during the measurement, to a rotational movement about an axis 17, will be subjected to an alternating rectilinear movement.
The invention is not limited to the case shown of a comparator with an oscillating lever, nor to the case where the support 2 is mounted oscillating on the base 1. This support could be mounted on this base in another way, for example by means of a parallelogram mechanism, allowing this support to perform a translational movement relative to the base.
