Device for fixing a bearing in which the automatic winding oscillating weight of a timepiece rotates In timepieces with automatic winding by means of an oscillating weight mounted on a ball bearing, the oscillating weight is fixed either to the outer ring, or to the inner ring of the bearing, this second solution making it possible to produce the oscillating weight pinion of smaller diameter.
It has been proposed to fix the outer ring of the bearing to the bridge of the oscillating weight using two countersunk screws. But the thickness of the bridge being very small, because we usually practice a housing on its underside, surrounding the ball bearing, to put the cogs there, the tapping is not long enough to hold the screw d 'satisfactorily.
It is also possible to envisage fixing the outer ring on the bridge by means of a screw and a fork-shaped part which rests on the edge of the bearing, but the excessive elasticity of the fork resulting from its thickness, limited by the available space, would compromise good fixing. On the other hand, the screw fixing has the same drawbacks as the previous solution.
The subject of the invention is a device for fixing a bearing in which the automatic winding oscillating weight of a timepiece rotates, comprising at least two fixing elements intended to clamp the outer ring of the bearing against the bridge. the winding mass, characterized in that each of these fastening elements comprises a smooth cylindrical part which can turn fat in said bridge, and an asymmetrical head allowing on the one hand the introduction of the bearing in its housing and on the other hand the tightening of the outer ring of the bearing by rotating said element.
The accompanying drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention. Fig. 1 is a plan view thereof and FIG. 2 a section through II-II of FIG. 1.
Fig. 3 shows a detail.
Figs. 4a and 4b show variants.
In fig. 1 and 2, the bridge of the oscillating mass 2 is designated by 1. The mass itself, 2, is fixed to the inner ring 3 of the ball bearing 4. On this ring 3 is mounted the pinion of the oscillating mass 5 The outer ring 6 of the bearing is housed in a core 8 of the bridge which ensures the position of the bearing on the latter by its rim 7. By 9 are designated two elements for fixing the outer ring of the bearing on the bridge.
One of these elements is shown in detail in FIG. 3. It comprises a smooth cylindrical part 14 and an asymmetrical head 10 having a slot 11, a flat 12 and, on part of its lower face, a helical surface 13. The cylindrical part 14 engages in a hole drilled in. the bridge.
The two fixing elements are fixed on the bridge by shore, a recess 15 being made for this purpose at the lower end of the element; the elements can, after fixing, be turned bold using a screwdriver.
The flats 12 are oriented so that they are tangent to the rim 7 of the outer ring 6 and the oscillating mass and its bearing are placed on the bridge so that the ring 6 is housed in the core 8. With a screwdriver, one places then turn the asymmetric heads one after the other, until the ledge 7 is tight against the bridge 1.
By turning the element 9 to the right like a usual screw, the part 16 of the helical surface slides on the flange 7 of the bearing and as one turns, the pressure exerted on the outer ring is increased.

In the variant of FIGS. 4a and 4b, is interposed on the elements 9, between the part 15 and the bridge 1, a domed elastic washer 17.
This washer allows the elements 9 to move slightly axially during an impact and thus protect the bearing. This same spring washer allows at the same time to manufacture the fasteners and the core 8 with greater tolerances in height without compromising good fixing of the bearing. In fig. 4a, the domed elastic washer 17 is riveted to a shoulder 18 of smaller diameter than the cylindrical part 14 of the fixing element. In fig. 4b, said washer is riveted directly to the cylindrical part.
The shape of the element 9 is of course not limited to that shown in FIGS. 1, 2, 3 and 4. The helical surface 13 can be replaced for example by a simple inclined plane. The rim 7 of the outer race of the bearing may be conical, as well as the part of the head of the element which, during its fixing, comes into contact with said rim, so that the tightening of the bearing does not only take place. in the axial direction, but axial and radial.
Instead of putting a washer 17 on each element 9, these washers can be replaced by a single ring extending all around the bearing and having two or more holes to retain the fasteners, the lower end of which will be slightly flared so to retain the elements axially while allowing them to turn fat in the holes.
