Waterproof watch case The present invention relates to a waterproof watch case.
Watertight watch cases are known composed of a caseback and a crystal whose rim is reinforced by an inner ring. In such cases, the crystal is forcibly engaged in a bezel which is itself mounted on the caseback with the interposition of a seal on which said bezel acts radially. In certain known executions, a dummy bezel covers the glass bezel.
The aim of the present invention is to improve boxes of the above-mentioned type by simplifying them on the one hand and by increasing the security of their sealing on the other hand. To this end, the bezel is omitted and a second seal, on which the crystal acts axially, is interposed between it and the caseback.
The waterproof watch case according to the invention is characterized by the fact that it comprises, in combination, a caseback, a crystal whose rim is reinforced by an inner tension ring, forcibly engaged in said caseback, a first seal housed in an annular groove of said case back and on which said rim of the crystal acts radially, and a second seal interposed between an internal shoulder of said case back and the edge of the rim of the crystal. ice cream,
such that an increase in the pressure of the ambient medium in which said box is located tends to press said glass axially against said second gasket, thus improving the tightness of the box.
The drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention. The figure is an axial section of part of a diver's watch.
The diver's watch shown comprises a movement 1 housed in a sealed box itself comprising a base-channel 2 and a crystal 3. The latter has a rim 3a reinforced internally by a tension ring 4, and force-engaged in a rim ring finger 2a of the caseback 2.
This rim has an annular groove 5 in which is housed a seal 6, of circular cross section in the rest state, which is compressed radially by the rim 3a of the lens 3.
A second seal, designated by 7, is interposed between an inner shoulder 2b of the back-middle part 2 and the rim 3a of the crystal. This seal 7 is compressed axially by the crystal, all the more so as the external pressure of the ambient medium in which the watch is placed increases.
The watch shown is provided with a rotating bezel 8, knurled on the outside at 9, fixed to the edge 2a of the square back 2 by means of a wavy wire spring 10. This bezel 8 has a frustoconical surface 11 forming facing a lateral frustoconical surface 12 of the crystal 3, thus preventing the latter from untimely separating from the caseback 2; the bezel 8 thus serves as a safety member ensuring the assembly between the crystal 3 and the caseback 2.
