<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

Luminous watch The object of the present invention is a luminous watch comprising a bulb intended to illuminate the dial, a source of electricity housed in the box, and an external control member of a switch mounted therein.
An example of such a watch is described in Swiss patent NI) 331586. In this watch, the source of electricity is constituted by an accumulator fixed to the bottom of the case and the control member of a switch comprises a push-button. emerging from the middle of the box. As for the bulb intended to illuminate the dial, it is carried by the plate. The conductors intended to interconnect these various electrical components are housed around the movement, between the latter and the case or under the dial.
The construction described in said patent has the drawback of imposing on the worker responsible for mounting the watch movement in the case the need to perform operations to which he is not accustomed to ensure all the necessary electrical contacts.
The object of the invention is to create a luminous watch of the type indicated, in which the worker responsible for fitting the movement does not have to take care of establishing the permanent electrical contacts. For this purpose, the watch according to the invention comprises a member of insulating material carrying the bulb and said electrical conductors interconnecting the electrical members of the watch, and this member is mounted as a single part in the case, said conductors forming protrusion of this member in insulating material at the places where contacts must be made with the electrical components carried by the box, so as to ensure all the necessary permanent contacts.
An embodiment of the object of the invention is shown schematically and by way of example in the accompanying drawing.
Fig. 1 is a partially cutaway elevational view of part of this watch, and FIG. 2 is a partial plan view of the element shown in FIG. 1.
1 is a ring of insulating plastic material intended to surround a standard wristwatch movement to which it is fixed like an enlarging circle by known means (not shown), the assembly being housed in a case middle part like a movement with usual magnification circle.
The ring 1 has a hole in which is engaged a bulb 2, projecting above the ring 1 and intended to be engaged in an opening of the dial, not shown of the watch, which covers the ring 1. Below the 'bulb 2, a housing 3 is made in the ring 1 so. to allow the establishment of the electrical connections when mounting the bulb in the ring 1.
As seen in fig. 1, the wire 4 of the bulb 2 is connected to a part of a conductor 5, embedded in the ring 1, which protrudes inside the housing 3, and the wire 6 of the bulb 2 is connected to a similar part of a conductor 7 coated in the ring 1.
Fig. 2 shows that the other end of the conductor 5 protrudes at the periphery of the ring 1 with a view to establishing contact with the watch case, when the ring 1 is placed therein. As for the other end
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
moth of the conductor 7, it protrudes into a notch 8 of the ring 1 formed in the vicinity of a pusher mounted in the middle part, this pusher, of the usual type, being driven into a hole in the middle part with the interposition of a sleeve in insulating material,
and having a rod intended to act in the direction of the arrow a. The ring 1 finally carries a conductor 9, one end 10 of which, projecting in the notch 8 of the ring 1, is in permanent contact with the rod of said pusher and the other end 11 of which projects below the ring 1 , in the direction of the bottom of the box, so as to come into contact with the inner pole of an accumulator housed in this bottom as described in Swiss patent No. 331586.
It emerges from the preceding description that the ends of the conductors 5, 7 and 9, projecting from the ring 1, automatically establish all the electrical contacts necessary for the operation of the luminous watch, by simply placing the ring 1 with the movement of the watch. (not shown) in the box thereof.
When the push-button of the box is actuated in the direction of arrow a, the protruding part 10 of the conductor 9 is made to rest on the protruding part of the conductor 7 located in the notch 8, which closes the circuit of the bulb by means of conductors 9 (connected by its end 11 to the internal pole of the accumulator), 7 and 5 (connected to the box, to which the other pole of the accumulator is connected).
As in the aforementioned patent, the accumulator housed in the bottom of the watch case can be recharged by simply connecting the two poles of a battery, for example of a flashlight, one, to the box, and the the other, to the pusher, which is permanently electrically connected to the internal pole of the accumulator, via the conductor 9.
To prevent the elastic part 10 of the conductor 9 from passing next to the rod of said pusher when the latter is actuated, it is possible to provide a diametral slot in the inner part of the rod of the pusher and accommodate the part 10 of the conductor 9. in this slot.
In order to mount the conductors 5, 7 and 9 in the ring 1, two parts of this ring are preferably glued one on the other. There is naturally no need to house the bulb and the conductors intended to automatically establish contacts with the electrical components of the watch carried by the case in a ring surrounding the movement.
In the case of a shaped movement, housed in a round box for example, the bulb and said conductors could be mounted in a member made of insulating material intended to occupy the free space remaining between the sides of the movement and the box. Finally, the member carrying the bulb 2 and said conductors could also be constituted by a plate intended to be fixed to the movement of the watch like a bridge, when the latter is fitted.
