Device for artificial illumination of the dial of a wristwatch The present invention relates to a device for artificial illumination of the dial of a wristwatch, comprising at least one electric bulb housed in the case of this watch, in the vicinity of the periphery of said case, in a recess of an optical conductor formed by a circle for enlarging the movement, with a contour similar to that of the watch dial, this conductor also being housed in said case and being intended to uniformly distribute the rays, light emitted by said bulb at the periphery of said dial.
An exemplary embodiment of this device is shown in the accompanying drawing, in which FIG. 1 is a partial section of a wristwatch, and FIG. 2 is a plan view on a smaller scale with certain parts in section of the watch of FIG. 1.
The watch shown in the drawing comprises a movement 1 housed in a case composed of a caseband-bezel 2, a back 3 and a glass 4. The movement 1 is held axially and radially in place in said case by a circle. magnification 5 in transparent material. Elastic members, not shown, bearing on the bottom 3, urge the circle 5 upwards in FIG. 1, so as to make the upper face of the circle 5 rest under a rim 6 of the lens 4, and this rim 6 of the lens under a rim 7 of the caseband-bezel 2.
Dial 8 extends beyond movement 1 and partially covers circle 5. A housing 9 is made in the circle 5 in order to receive an electric bulb 10. The location of this housing is chosen so that the bulb 10 is covered for the most part by the dial and is hidden.
Due to the fact that the bulb 10 is located within the circle 5, the radiation emitted by this bulb is distributed uniformly in said circle, which constitutes a luminous zone around the dial 8 and, consequently, an optical conductor uniformly distributing the radiation of the bulb 10 around the dial, so as to illuminate not only the visible face of the latter with all the indications which appear therein (time signs, marks, decorations), but also the hands or other indicator members used instead needles.
To avoid losses through the side walls of the circle 5 and the underside of the latter, said walls and said face are coated with a reflective white varnish.
One could also use a glass retained in a notch instead of the glass shown in the drawing.
The electric current intended to supply the bulb 10 in the watch shown in the drawing is supplied by an accumulator 11 in the form of a flat disc, located between the movement 1 and the bottom 3 of the case. The lower pole of this accumulator is in contact with the base 3, while its upper pole is connected to the movement by a strip 12. Since the movement 1 is mounted in the box by means of the circle 5 of transparent insulating material, we notice that the movement is isolated from the box.
In order to avoid a short-circuit between the movement and the case via the winding stem 13 or the winding crown 14, the latter is equipped with a gasket 15 ensuring at the same time the sealing of the seal. between the crown 14 and the tube 16 of the box, and a round

delle insulator 17 is placed in a housing 18 of the box, coaxial with the tube 16, located under the crown 14.
Since the rod 13 is electrically connected to the movement 1 and, therefore, to the upper pole of the accumulator 3, it is possible to recharge the latter without opening the watch, by simply connecting the two poles of a source of current, for example from a battery, one to the watch case, and the other to the winding crown 14.
The electric bulb 10 itself is connected to the movement 1 by a wire 19 and to the box by means of a spring plunger 20 mounted in an opening of the caseband-bezel 2, the inner end 21 of this pusher coming into contact with the wire 22 of the bulb when this pusher is actuated towards the inside of the box.
