The object of the present invention is a gas discharge tube lighting lamp; this lamp comprises, on the one hand, a transparent sealed envelope having at one end a sleeve housing the electrical components necessary for the operation of the lamp and at the other end a screw cap and, on the other hand, a device for safety against the risk of explosion if the lamp is dismantled in a gaseous atmosphere.
The lamp according to the invention is characterized in that it comprises an electrical connection member in two releasable parts, one of which is integral with said sleeve and the other of a part elastically connected to a support of the tube of the lamp. lamp, a current switch connected between said electrical connection member and the source of current supplying the lamp, and a push button for controlling this switch from a solid stop of said tube support,
the whole being arranged in such a way that by causing a rela tive displacement between the support of the tube and the pusher, the latter stops acting on the switch which then interrupts the supply of current to the connection member whose two parts are still engaged thanks to the displacement of the part elastically connected to the support of the tube, the release of these parts can thus only take place when the current is interrupted.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the lamp forming the subject of the present invention.
Figs. 1 and 2 are partial views of this embodiment showing the internal components in two different positions. The lamp shown comprises a discharge tube 1 mounted in a transparent sealed casing 2, one threaded end of which carries a connecting piece 3 onto which is screwed a sleeve 4 lo ging the electrical components necessary for the operation of the lamp. The other threaded end and not shown of the casing 2 carries a screw cap. A safety device against the risk of explosion in the event of the lamp being dismantled in a gaseous atmosphere, is also placed between said casing 2 and the sleeve 4.
The tube 1 is carried by a support 5 connected to the plug, not shown and having a flange 6 adjacent to the corresponding end of the tube 1. A part 7 forming part of the safety device is resiliently connected to the support 5 and carries a plug 8 forming one of the removable parts of an electrical connection member, the other part of which constitutes a socket 9.
The elastic connection of the part 7 to the support 5 is made by means of a rod 10, mounted to slide in a corresponding housing of the support and surrounded by a compression spring 11 tending to keep the part 7 away from said support. A screw 12 (Fig. 2) serves to prevent the rod 10 from fully disengaging from its housing. To this end, this screw 12 retains the rod 10 by a notch (not shown) formed at the end of a flat formed thereon. The flange 6 is part of an element fixed removably on the support 5.
It is however understood that it could be made integral with said support in any other way, by being, for example, manufactured with it, welded, etc.
The sleeve 4 carries at its end adjacent to the casing 2 a plate 13 fixed by means of three screws 14 inclined relative to the cylindrical edge of this plate and engaging in a corresponding groove formed in the sleeve 4. The plate 13 has an opening 15 in which the socket 9 is fixed. This opening 15 is surrounded by guide elements 16 for the plug 8. A pusher 17, also part of the safety device, is slidably mounted in a drilled bore. in a boss 18 of the plate 13.
This pusher 17 has at one end a head 19 cooperating with a control button 20 of a sealed switch 21 shown schematically, the other end of the pusher 17 cooperating with the flange 6 as will be explained in more detail below. after.
The switch 21, which is disposed inside the sleeve 4, is electrically connected between the socket 9 and the current source of the lamp, the electrical connections not having been shown for the sake of simplification of the drawing. .
The lamp described can be dismantled without risk of explosion when working in a gaseous atmosphere thanks to the safety device which it comprises and which operates as follows. In the position shown in FIG. 2, the lamp works, the switch 21 being closed by the pous evening 17 which abuts against the flange 6 and the tube 1 being thus supplied with current from the plug 8 dark in the socket 9. The part 7 is applied against the support 5, the rod 10 being fully engaged in its housing with the spring 11 compressed.
To remove the lamp, the plug closing the end of the casing (not shown) is unscrewed 2. The support 5 is then moved in the direction of the arrow in FIG. 1 and the pusher 17 separated from the flange 6. This pusher 17 ceasing to act on the switch 21, the latter interrupts the supply current to the socket 9. During the operation of unscrewing the plug, not shown, the plug 8 remains engaged in socket 9, part 7 then moving away from support 5 by the action of spring 11.
The current being interrupted, the plug 8 can be released from the socket 9 without the formation of sparks, therefore without danger of explosion when the support 5 and the tube 1 have come out of the casing 2.
Although in the lamp described, the part 7 only comprises a rod 10 sliding in a corresponding housing of the support 5, it may include two rods sliding in two similar housings, which improves the guidance.
