Le mécanisme selon l'invention vise à remédier aux inconvénients précités. Il est caractérisé par le fait que le dispositif de transformation d'un mouve ment de rotation en un mouvement de va-et-vient comprend une manivelle entraînant une bielle arti culée à une extrémité d'un levier monté oscillant sur le bâti de la machine, l'autre extrémité de ce levier portant une première biellette articulée ;
The present invention relates to a mechanism for actuating the conveyor of a sewing machine, in which the conveyor is carried by a support connected to an actuating member by the intermediary of two levers, the first of which is rigid and oscillates along a fixed vertical axis, while the second is partly elastic,
constitutes with the first a deformable parallelogram @and oscillates along a fixed horizontal axis, the oscillating movement of the rigid lever being transmitted to it from the actuating member by means of a device for transforming a rotational movement in a reciprocating movement Certain mechanisms for actuating the conveyor of a sewing machine of the type indicated above are already known. Such a mechanism has been described in Swiss patent N 288068.
Such mechanisms give complete satisfaction when they are applied to household sewing machines in particular. However, certain difficulties are encountered when these mechanisms are to be applied to industrial sewing machines with high operating speed. Indeed, the use of a device for transforming a rotational movement into a reciprocating movement, generally consisting of an eccentric device, does not make it possible to obtain an almost absolute immobility of the device. jaw of the conveyor for a sufficiently long period during each stitching cycle of a stitch by the machine needle.
On the other hand, in known mechanisms, the point of oscillation of said rigid lever is located between the two ends thereof, one of the ends of this lever carrying the claw of the conveyor while the The actuation acts at the other end of the lever.
At the high operating speed of the sewing machine, the inertia of this rigid lever is troublesome and its bending effects are sensitive, which does not give a rigorously exact operation of the conveyor claw, especially in the case of a sewing machine equipped with an automatically controlled conveyor actuation mechanism.
On the other hand, there are sewing machines equipped with a conveyor operating mechanism comprising a triangular cam. In these machines, the movement of the fabric is abrupt and noisy at high speeds. Furthermore, the production of these machines is delicate and costly.
The mechanism according to the invention aims to remedy the aforementioned drawbacks. It is characterized by the fact that the device for transforming a rotational movement into a reciprocating movement comprises a crank driving a connecting rod articulated at one end of a lever mounted to oscillate on the frame of the machine. , the other end of this lever carrying a first articulated link;
on it by one of its ends and the other end of which is connected to a second link hinged itself on said rigid lever carrying the conveyor, at a point of this lever located between its axis of oscillation and its end carrying the carrier,
the articulation axis of the two links between them being connected to a control arm capable of occupying several positions to allow the adjustment of the amplitude of the oscillation movement of the rigid lever and the reversal of the direction of advance of the carrier.
The appended drawing represents, schematically and by way of example, an embodiment of the mechanism according to the invention. Fig. 1 is a vertical sectional view of the free arm of a sewing machine showing in elevation the said mechanism for actuating the carrier.
Fig. 2 is a plan view of this same mechanism.
The actuating mechanism of the conveyor of a sewing machine is shown in the accompanying drawing mounted in a sewing machine frame 1, in particular in the lower free arm of a sewing machine.
In this mechanism, the claw 2 of the conveyor is carried by a support 3 connected to an actuating member by means of two levers 4 and 5. The lever 4 is rigid and oscillates along a vertical axis 6, while that the lever 5 is partly elastic and oscillates along a fixed horizontal axis 7. These two levers 4 and 5 constitute, in plan view (FIG. 2), a deformable parallelogram.
The rigid lever 4 carries at one of its ends an axis 8 on which the two branches 9 and 10 that the support 3 presents are able to slide vertically. The actuating member comprises a pinion 11 with a vertical axis 11a carried by the frame 1, this pinion 11 being intended to be driven in rotation by a tangent screw 12, integral with a drive shaft 13 of the machine disposed longitudinally in the arm thereof and also serving to drive the machine shuttle 14.
The oscillation movement of the rigid lever 4 is transmitted to it by the actuator 11 via a device for transforming a rotational movement into a reciprocating movement, this device comprising a crank 15 so lidary of pinion 11, this crank 15 driving, together with its crank pin 15a, a connecting rod 16 articulated at 17 at one end of a lever 18 mounted to oscillate about a vertical axis 19 fixed relative to the frame 1 of the sewing machine .
The other end of this lever 18, which is bent, carries a first link 21 articulated at 20 on the lever 18 by one of its ends and the other end of which is connected to a second link 22 articulated on it. - even on said rigid lever 4 along a vertical axis 23. The articulation axis 23 of the rod 22 on the lever 4 is located between the axis of oscillation 6 and the end of the rigid lever 4 bearing the claw 2 of the transporter.
The hinge pin 24 connecting the two links 21 and 22 to each other is connected to a control arm 25 capable of occupying several positions to allow adjustment of the amplitude of the oscillation movement of the rigid lever 4 and the reversal of the direction of advance of the conveyor. In the example shown, this control arm 25 connects the articulation axis 24 to the end 26 of a control lever 27 mounted to pivot about a vertical axis 28.
This vertical axis 28 can be angularly moved either in one direction or in the other, to allow the adjustment of the amplitude of the forward or backward movement of the conveyor.
On an automatically controlled sewing machine, the angular movements of this lever 27 are controlled from a control cam of the machine, the upper arm of this lever 27, not visible in the drawing, being kept in contact with it. the profile of the control cam by means of a spring 29 tending to make the lever 27 pivot counterclockwise with respect to FIG. 2.
The raising and lowering movements of the claw 2 of the conveyor are controlled by a cam 30 of generally circular cylindrical shape which is integral with the pinion 11. The lever 5 is formed of two main parts 31 and 32. The part 31 is an elastic blade which is fixed by a flange 33 on the part 32 which is rigid. This lever 5 is extended by a part 34 which is adjustable with respect to parts 31 and 32.
Indeed, this part 34 is fixed by a stud 35 and a bolt 36 on the rigid part 32. The opening of the part 34 through which the bolt 36 passes is wide enough to allow a position adjustment between this part. 34 and the parts 31 and 32 of the lever 5. The part 34 which is rigid therefore forms one end of the lever 5, the end on which the cam 30 acts.
This end 34 is continuously maintained in contact with the cam 30 by a spring 37 threaded onto a stud 38 fixed to the frame 1 of the machine. This stud 38 has a slot 39 in which the end of the part 34 is engaged to ensure perfect guidance of the latter. The other end of the lever 5 is connected to the support 3 by a pin 40, so as to transmit to the claw 2 of the conveyor its upward and downward movements.
As the cam 30 and the crank 15 are both integral with the pinion 11, the oscillating movements around the axis 7 of the lever 5 and the oscillating movements around the axis 6 of the lever 4 are synchronized.
The operation of the mechanism described above is as follows When, by acting on the control lever 27, the articulation axis 24 of the two connecting rods 21 and 22 is driven close to the plane passing through the axes 19 and 23, no oscillation movement around the vertical axis 6 is transmitted to the rigid lever 4 by the crank 15 and the connecting rod 16. On the other hand, the further this articulation axis 24 is moved away from the plane passing through the axes 19. and 23, the greater the amplitude of the oscillation movements of the rigid lever 4.
When the articulation axis 24 is to the left of the plane connecting the axes 19 and 23, as shown in FIG. 2 the actuating mechanism of the conveyor controls a backward movement of the pieces to be sewn driven by it, while when this hinge pin 24 is to the right of the plane passing through the axes 19 and 23, with respect to in fig. 2,
the actuating mechanism controls an advance movement of the pieces to be sewn carried by the conveyor. The further the hinge axis 24 is from the plane passing through the axes 19 and 23, the greater the amplitude of the oscillating movements of the rigid lever 4 is. It can therefore be seen from the above that the lever 27 allows, by means of the control arm 25, on the one hand, the adjustment of the amplitude of the oscillation movement of the rigid lever 4 and, on the other hand, the version of the forwarding direction of the transporter.
The profile of the cam 30 is provided such that each revolution of the latter, this cam 30 causes an raising and lowering movement of the claw 2 of the conveyor, synchronized with the other mechanisms of the machine.
Due to the use of a device for transforming a rotational movement into a reciprocating movement comprising a crank 15 and a connecting rod 16 as short as possible and preferably of an effective length slightly greater than the radius of gyration of the crank pin 15a of the crank 15 (see FIG. 2), there is an almost perfect period of immobility of the claw 2 in a horizontal plane extending over nearly half a revolution of the crank 15,
therefore long enough so that the quilting of each stitch and the knotting of the two threads forming the stitch can take place without difficulty, even at high operating speeds of the sewing machine.
Furthermore, the choice of the effective length of the connecting rod 16, that is to say of the distance separating the axis of the crank pin 15a from the crank 15 from the articulation axis 17, as short as possible, this distance being able to be between once and twice the value of the radius of gyration of this crankpin 15a, preferably slightly greater than this radius, makes it possible to obtain an active travel of the transporter which is slow at the start and gradually accelerated until active fabric transport limit switch.
Thus, the operation of the conveyor takes place without braking and without shock or vibration, even at high operating speeds, which prevents the claw 2 from sliding relative to the fabric. A very fast active limit switch of the conveyor is thus obtained, adapted to the movement of the thread puller of the sewing machine.
In addition, the drive of the rigid lever 4 for controlling the advance and respectively backward movements of the claw 2 at an intermediate point of its length between its axis of oscillation 6 and its end carrying the claw 2, makes it possible to reduce the value of the moving masses, that is to say the inertia of the rigid lever 4 itself and therefore the bending forces are reduced as much as possible.
