Apparatus for registering a telephone call number The present patent relates to an apparatus intended to register a telephone call number, either in a subscriber station, either in a public station or in a telephone exchange. This device, which is of the type in which the digits composing the number to be recorded are printed successively on a tape by means of a ciphered rotary drum, brought into the printing position by a first electromagnet, and a stamp actuated by a second electromagnet, is characterized in that the resetting of the encrypted drum is controlled automatically, after each printing, by the return movement of said stamp.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 schematically represents this embodiment in the rest position.
Figs. 2 and 3 show the device in two other states, during operation. The apparatus shown comprises an electromagnet 10, the coil 11 of which is intended to be traversed by trains of pulses corresponding to the digits composing the number to be recorded. The lower end of the armature 12, pivoted at 13, of this electromagnet, is subjected to the action of a return spring 14, while at its upper end is articulated a pawl 15 returned by a spring 16 .
The figures intended to be printed are formed by printed characters carried one above the other on the mantle of a drum 17. The latter is secured to a ratchet wheel 18 intended to cooperate with the pawl 15 and with a retaining pawl 19, held in the working position by a leaf spring 20.
With each impulse passing through the coil 11, the pawl 15 advances the wheel 18 by one tooth and the drum 17 by a number against a spiral spring 21 attached by one of its ends to a point fixed and by its other end to a stud 22 integral with the wheel 18.
The printing device of the apparatus comprises, in addition to the characters already mentioned of the drum 17, a stamp 23 carried by a lever arm 24 articulated at 25 and connected by a rod 26 to the frame of a second non-electromagnet. represented. This stamp 23 is designed to apply a strip of paper 27 and an ink ribbon 28 against the character of the drum arranged opposite this strip.
The mechanism controlling, after each printing, the resetting of the drum 17, is connected to the printing device so that this resetting, which is effected by the spring 21, is controlled during the return movement of the stamp. 23. For this purpose, a rod 29, articulated at 30 on the arm 24 and biased by a spring 31, has, on the one hand, an elbow finger 32 and, on the other hand, a step 33, intended to cooperate respectively with a pin 34 of the wheel 18 and the shank 35 of the pawl 19.
The operation of the apparatus, of which three different states are illustrated by the figures. of the drawing, is as follows When the device is at rest (fig. 1), the gong 23 is in the raised position and the wheel 18, as well as the drum 17, are immobilized, on the one hand, by the finger 32 against which abuts the pin 34, and, on the other hand, by the pawl 19, the head of which is engaged in the teeth of the wheel 18. In this rest position of the various components of the apparatus, the rear face of the tail of the pawl 19 is away from the front face of the step 33.
When a pulse train arrives at the coil 11, the pawl 15 advances the wheel 18 and with it the pin 34 in a counterclockwise direction. The rod 29 released from the action of the ankle 34, turns from left to right under the action of the spring 31 until the step, having crossed the gap which separated it from the rear face of the pawl 19, is stopped by the latter. During the intermittent rotation of the wheel 18, controlled by the pawl 15, which follows the movement of the rod 29, the pawl 19 oscillates without its rear face leaving the front face of the step 33.
Once the drum 17 has reached the position corresponding to the figure to be printed, the second electromagnet actuates, in the direction of arrow F1, the rod 26 so that the gong 23 strikes the drum 17 after having described an arcuate path ( f1) by causing the printing on strip 28 of the number placed opposite it.
During the striking movement, the rod 29 moves downwards and the step 33 escapes the tail of the pawl 19, which allows this rod to pivot once again, still under the action of the spring 31, on the left to the right until it is again stopped by the tail of the pawl 19, which abuts against it between the step 33 and the finger 32.
During the following phase, during which the gong 23 is returned to its initial position according to arrow f.2 by the action of a return spring (not shown) acting on the armature of the second electromagnet, the rod 26 moves upwards, in the direction of arrow F, causing rod 29 in the same direction. During this movement, the reverse of step 33 catches the tail of pawl 19, which causes the latter to tilt in the direction of the arrow f3, against the spring 20.
This tilting causes the head of the pawl 19 to disengage from the teeth of the wheel 18 which is thus freed from any stress other than that of the coil spring 21; the wheel 18 pivots under the action of this spring in the direction of arrow f4 (fig. 3) until the moment when the pin 34 meets the finger 32, which causes the stop of the wheel 18 without however the latter has not moved from right to left, against the spring 21, as a result of the shock resulting from this encounter, the rod 29 by a sufficient quantity for the tail of the pawl 19 to escape the step 33 and allow to the latter to resume, under the action of the spring 20, the position which it occupies in FIG. 1.
