Instantaneous control mechanism from the hours disc to the jumping hour watches. The object of the invention is a mechanism for controlling the hours disc in jumping hour watches, this disc being fixed on the hour star controlled intermittently, at the rate of one unit of its toothing, under the action of a mobile having a continuous rotational movement.
The mechanism according to the invention differs from other known mechanisms in that the aforementioned mobile controls the hour star by means of a so-called "surprise" device known, in principle, in repeating watches, but the construction of which has been modified and adapted to the new application, so that the hour star can be actuated in both directions of rotation, without any prior backward movement of the star.
For this purpose, the device comprises a cam and a finger integral with one another in rotation and driven by the mobile mentioned above, by means of a pin engaged in a groove of said mobile, so that the cam and the finger can perform a relative movement with respect to the mobile and limited by the groove, the cam cooperating with a jumper determining an instantaneous relative movement of the cam and of the finger, which is intended to act on the hour star.
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, in plan, an embodiment of the object of the invention.
On a bridge 1 of the frame of the movement is mounted the star 2 of the hours with twelve teeth, by means of a screw with span 3, on which the star can turn freely. On the star 2 is fixed the disc, respectively, the dial 4 bearing the hours which appear successively in a window of a plate (not shown) covering the mechanism. Star 2 is controlled intermittently; at the rate of one unit of its toothing, under the action of uri disc 5 mounted with greasy friction on the minute axis 6 and making one revolution in 60 minutes when it is controlled by the movement of the watch.
The disc 5, which generally forms the minute dial, can rotate with heavy friction on the axis 6 in both directions of rotation, with a view to resetting the two time discs. In the toothing of the star 2 is engaged a jumper 7 pivoted on a screw with bearing 7 "and subjected to the action of a jumper spring 7 '. The jumper 7 secures the star in its acquired position.
The instantaneous control of the star 2 is carried out by means of the device called "on tap" comprising an impulse finger 8 intended to act on the star, a cam 9 posing a beak 9 'with two planes inclined in the opposite direction , and a jumper 11 pivoted on a screw with bearing 12 and subjected to the action of a spring 13.
The finger 8 and the cam 9 are mounted idle on the minute axis 6, but they are integral with one another in rotation, by means of a pin 14 engaged in a groove 15 in the shape of an arc of a circle, spared in the 5 minute disc. The jumper 11 cooperates with the cam 9 under the action of the spring 13 which always tends to push the head of the jumper against the periphery of the cam. However, the play of the jumper is limited by a stop 16 preventing the head of the jumper from coming into contact with the inactive part of the cam in order to limit the passive friction between these two members to what is strictly necessary.
The operation of the mechanism described is as follows The disc 5 rotating in the direction indicated by the arrow, under the action of the movement of the watch, drives the finger 8 and the cam 9 by means of the pin 14 located at the rear of the groove 15. When the finger 8 engages in the teeth of the star 2 and is in front of a tooth thereof, the jumper 11, after having been pushed back by the nose 9 'of the cam 9, crosses this beak and engages it on the rear inclined plane of the latter by communicating to the cam 9 and to the finger 8 an instantaneous acceleration movement following the arrow and relative to the disc 5.
This sudden angular movement of the cam 9 and of the finger 8 is limited to the length of the groove 15 of the disc 5, because the pin 14 abuts against the anterior end of said groove, as shown in phantom in the drawing. The finger 8, as a result of its relative and instantaneous displacement, abuts against one of the teeth of the star 2 and turns the latter by one tooth per jump. The disc 5, having a continuous rotational movement, it drives again, after a few minutes, by means of the pin 14, the finger 8 and the cam 9, so that the same function is repeated every hour.
The operation of the mechanism is <B> glue </B> the same as described above when the disc 5 rotates in the opposite direction to that indicated by the arrow, for example when the time dials are reset. However, as it is irrelevant whether the command of star 2 is more or less instantaneous when the time of the indicator members of the watch is reset, the anterior inclined plane of the nozzle 9 '(with respect to the direction of rotation indicated by the arrow) of cam 9 may have an inclination less than the posterior inclined plane, as shown in the drawing.
