Description

Reinforcement for roofs In the construction of roofs, in particular glass roofs, either for skylights, or for verandas, or for greenhouses, steel bars in T-shaped or angle iron were used for a long time, on which the plates of glass were held in place by putty flashings. The putty has the inconvenience of drying quickly, cracking and falling apart; it is therefore necessary to replace it often.

As a result of the progress made in the metallurgy of non-ferrous metals, it has been possible to obtain profiles made of light materials, in particular aluminum, and different types of fixing glass plates have been imagined, most often based on on the elasticity of thin metal blades.

These latter types of fixing offer advantages over mastic, but however have the drawback that said metal strips are good heat conductors and that condensation phenomena result which make it necessary to take certain precautions to collect water from condensation thus produced.

It was necessary to give the glazing bars a profile comprising gutters or channels which collect the condensation water and the rainwater which infiltrates between the glass sheets and their fixing devices. The present invention relates to a mature ar for roofing, which makes it possible to effectively fix the roofing elements, for example windows, while considerably reducing the condensation of the ambient humidity which is moreover collected by said metal frame. . This frame also makes it possible to connect the glazed part of a roof to the adjacent part comprising a metal roof.

It comprises a metal profile of transverse section in double T with unequal cross members, each arm of the large lower cross member being folded so as to present at least one rim constituting a gutter and at the same time forming a support for the cover plates. , while each arm of the small upper rail is folded so as to form a rounded rim intended to receive an internal packing of an inverted U-section, made of an elastic plastic material,

shaped so as to completely cover said small cross member and to be applied on said cover plates by wings which tapering from the middle part to the edges of the U.

In one embodiment, in the lower face of the large cross member of the T-profile, there may be provided a channel of straight section - dovetail allowing to slide therein and to maintain therein the heads of bolts of. similar section for fixing the metal frame to supports.

The appended drawing represents, schematically and by way of example, two embodiments of the reinforcement object of the invention.

Fig. 1 is a partial perspective view, seen from below, of a glazing produced with a frame according to the present invention.

Fig. 2 is a cross-sectional view of the metal T-profile.

Fig. 3 is a cross-sectional view of a section of an elastic plastic material used to hold windows and ensure the sealing of the joints.

Fig. 4 is a perspective view of a frame applied to the installation of a double window.

The fia. 5 shows the same frame applied to the connection of the glazed part of a roof to the adjacent part comprising a sheet metal roofing with under-roof made of wood or other insulating material.

The metal frame comprises a profile, preferably of a light metal or a light metal alloy, which has a double T-shaped cross section with unequal cross members. The large cross member constitutes the lower cross member 1 and it is folded so as to present to each arm a rim 2 or 3 of the same height, the edges 2a or 3U of which are adjusted so as to support sheets of glass 4 or 5.

In the lower face of this cross member 1 is formed a channel 6 having a straight dovetail section, in which it is possible to accommodate and slide in suitable locations the head, of similar section, bolts or other devices. attachment of the mature arch to supports.

The small cross is the upper cross 7; it preferably has a convex shape directed upwards and comprises two rounded edges 8 and 9, each intended to receive and hold an inner bead 10 and 11 of an inverted U-shaped profile 12 made of an elastic plastic material , such as, for example, vinyl chloride.

As shown in the drawing, this elastic section completely covers the small cross member 7 of the metal section; its wings 13 and 14 rest on the sheets of glass 4 and 5 and take a concave curved shape upwards, from which it follows that the edges 15 and 16, which tapering off from the middle part from the U towards its edges, apply strongly to the glass due to the elasticity of the material chosen in a suitable manner.

The metal profile shown in fig. 4 and 5 has a core and two flanges 2 and 3 higher than the profile of FIGS. 1 and 2 and allowing to extend the lower cross member 1, beyond the edges 2 and 3, at 17 and 18, and to raise these parts 17 and 18 at 19 and 20, in order to constitute on each side of the web of the profile a second gutter and a second well-adjusted bearing edge 19 "and 202 intended to support a second glazing, such as 52.

The bearing edges 192 and 20 ,, are advantageously in the form of a bead to allow the fitting of a lining made of an elastic plastic material 21, with a U-shaped section, which is seen as a flexible wing 22 extending from tapering towards the edge and which is intended to rest against the underside of the second glazing 52.

To maintain the lower glazing, one uses, according to a known method, an immobilizing device 23 constituted by an elastic metal strip curved in an appropriate manner, the upper edge of which is engaged in an anchoring groove 24 provided for this purpose. in the supporting edge of flanges 2 and 3.

Thanks to the upper elastic plastic profile, the entire part of the metal profile outside the building is covered and protected from bad weather. Not only is this part thus protected from oxidation and corrosion, but it is also surrounded by a heat-insulating material which protects it from temperature variations which, due to the conductivity of the metal, usually spread throughout the bar and cause condensation. water on the part of this bar located inside the building.

By this total covering of the metal section, an appreciable loss of calories by the metal reinforcements of the cover is avoided. In addition, considerable savings are made in the maintenance of these reinforcements, both for their external parts and their internal parts, since they are practically no longer subjected to the effects of the condensation of the vapor of water.

In the event of an accident occurring in one of the wings of the plastic section and causing rainwater to infiltrate, it is always collected in the lower gutters and drained outside by any known means.

In the arrangement shown in FIG. 4, the plastic material which covers the edge bead prevents dust and humidity from inside the building from passing between the two panes.

The profile shown in fig. 4 not only allows the construction of glazed roofs, but also the connection of the glazed part of a roof to the adjacent part comprising an insulated metal roof.

There is shown in FIG. 5 an application of the profile to the construction of a flat or ribbed sheet metal roof for the connection of a glazed part of the roof to the adjacent part comprising a metal covering. The flat sheet 25 or ribbed 26 is placed like the panes 4 and 5 on the edges 2 and 3 and on sheets of plywood or compressed wood 27 which rest on the beads 19a or 20, the edges 19 and 20. These plates 27 can also be any other heat-insulating product, such as fiber felt, for example.

The elastic plastic lining covers the small upper cross member 7 of the profile and the flanges 13 and 14 are applied to the metal sheets to form tight joints.

The dovetail groove 6 allows the installation of anchoring and fixing hooks to the walls and to the purlins of the framework.

This work can be performed without special tools for drilling holes and by unskilled workers. Installation and removal can be done in all seasons.

You can also replace glasses in all seasons and in all weathers, whereas this work is not possible with the installation with putty.
