Abstract

535,307. Glazing windows. LEYLAND MOTORS Ltd., BAILEY, C. C., and CHARNOCK, A. J. Oct. 4, 1939; Nos. 27178/39, 28344/39, and 330/400 [Class 20 (iii)] Glass panes 6 are secured by a rubber strip which engages aT-shaped astragal 1 and is formed with gaps 5 the sides of which press on the surfaces of the panes. The strip is split at 3 to enable it to be opened out for placing around the bar. The flashing tongues 8 are made, by the provision of wide grooves 9, sufficiently flexible to be turned up for the insertion of the panes 6, and to prevent a similar yielding of the tongues under wind pressure, the grooves 9 are filled after glazing, by hard rubber strips 11. In a modification, Fig. 5, the capping 13 which is formed separately from the flashing and packing part engages a D-shaped enlargement 12 on the top of the astragal 1 and presses the flashing part 15 against the panes 6. In further modifications, an integral capping and flashing part is separate from the ,packing part.
