Description

Watch movement comprising two motor barrels The present invention relates to a watch movement comprising two motor barrels, for example a watch movement in which a barrel controls the actual watch movement, tan say that the watch movement other activates the alarm clock.

A movement of my own has already been proposed which is provided with a winding mechanism actuating at the same time the two ratchets of the motor barrels, these ratchets being mounted idle, each on the corresponding barrel shaft, and driving this shaft rotatably by friction. This mechanism is satisfactory, but takes up a lot of space in height.

The watch movement according to the invention overcomes this drawback. It is characterized by a winding mechanism having a wheel which engages simultaneously and permanently with the ratchet of each of the motor pistons, these ratchets each being wedged on the corresponding barrel shaft, and by a sliding flange fixed. to each spring in order to allow them to be raised at the same time by means of said wheel, while avoiding causing them to break when one or both springs are fully loaded. The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention. Fig. 1 is a tick diagram plan view.

Fig. 2 is a section taken along the line 11-1l of FIG. 1.

The drawing partially represents an alarm watch movement comprising two barrels 1 and 2, the respective springs 3 and 4 of which are wound up simultaneously in action, creating a hand winding using a winding crown, not shown, the stem of which 5 controls a winding pinion 6 meshing with a crown wheel 7 mounted on plate 8 by means of a screw with bearing 9.

The crown wheel 7 engages at the same time in two ratchets of barrels 10 and 11 adjusted squarely on the respective barrel shafts 12 and 13 and held axially by screws 14 and 15. The shafts 12 and 13 pivot in the plate 8 and in a bridge 16.

A sliding flange 17, respectively 18, of the usual type, is fixed to each of the springs 3, 4 and cooperates in a known manner with the inner wall of the drum of the barrels 1, 2.

A retaining pawl, not shown, co-operates with the teeth of one of the wheels 7, 10 or 11.

If the winding stem 5 is rotated in the winding direction of the barrel springs 3, 4, the crown wheel 7 drives the two ratchets 10, 11 and, consequently, the barrel shafts 12, 13, this which simultaneously arms the two springs 3, 4. If one of these springs is fully loaded, its flange begins to slide inside the corresponding barrel drum. As for the other barrel, the reassembly action can continue until the mainspring is in turn fully charged.

When one or both mainsprings are fully charged, it is possible to continue turning the winding stem indefinitely, without running the risk of forcing these springs or causing the balance rebound or damage to the gear train.

It can be seen that the mechanism described and represented does not take up more space in height than an ordinary winding mechanism.

Instead of being a hand winder, the winding mechanism could also be an automatic winder.
