Waterproof watch box. The present invention relates to a waterproof watch case capable of receiving a simple or complicated watch movement, for example a chronograph movement. This case comprises a middle part and a bottom-cup fitted into the middle part and intended to maintain the movement of the. shows applied against a shoulder of the caseband.
It is characterized by a threaded ring screwed into the caseband and pressing. a seal against a bearing surface of the middle part, in such a way that this gasket is deformed and extends radially in an annular groove formed in the side wall of the cup base, in order to ensure the seal between the middle part and the cup base and to hold it in place in the caseband.
The appended drawing represents, partially and by way of example, one embodiment of the box according to the invention. Figs. 1 and 2 are two cross sections of the same housing, respectively before and after the tightening of the sealing gasket. The case shown comprises a case 1, a protective glass 2 mounted in a notch and in a sealed manner in the caseband, a cup base 3, a threaded ring 6 and a deformable sealing gasket 7; these last two parts serve to hold the back 3 in place while ensuring the seal between the latter and the middle part 1, as will be explained below.
The bottom = cup 3 has a bottom (which can be flat as in the drawing or curved) and a cylindrical side wall 8, the outside diameter of which is slightly less than the inside diameter of the caseband 1, so that the bottom-cup can fit together easily, but with very little clearance,
in caseband 1. - The edge of the side wall of the cup base is intended to rest against the edge '11 of the clockwork plate 4 supported by its dial 12 against a shoulder 13 of the middle part. The side wall known as the bottom-bowl also has, near the bottom, a groove of semi-circular section 3a.
The part of the caseband opposite to that carrying the protective glass 2 has an annular groove delimited on the outside by an annular part or edge 5 and inside by an annular part or edge 1.a lower than the edge 5 and whose edge is flat and constitutes the bearing surface of the caseband against which the ring 6 presses the, trim 7. The peripheral wall of the groove is threaded while its inner wall and its bottom are smooth.
The ring 6 has a cylindrical part which is externally threaded and an internal rim forming with the cylindrical part a housing 6c, receiving the gasket 7, which is made of plastic for example.
The assembly due to the caseback takes place as follows. After placing the movement 4 inside the caseband, the cup base 3 is threaded into the latter. The ring 6 containing the lining 7 has been partially screwed into the caseband without compressing the lining (see fig. 1). .
The bowl bottom is kept pressed against the rim 11 and, using a key penetrating into the notches made in the ring 6, the latter is screwed, which has the effect of compressing the gasket 7 which deforms and extends radially in the groove 3ca of the back 3 (see fig. 2), and to ensure the elastic retention of the back in the middle part. This assembly can therefore dampen, to a certain extent, the shocks which are transmitted to the clockwork movement.
A second lining could also, in order to absorb these shocks in a more efficient manner, be placed between the shoulder 13 of the middle part and the casing 12. This deformation of the lining 7 not only causes the latter to penetrate into the case. groove 3a, but also the compression of the lining between the middle part and the ring, on the one hand, and against the side wall 8, on the other hand, which ensures the seal between the cup base and the middle part .
The side wall of the bottom-cup has a notch 9 which embraces the inner end of the barrel of the winder 10 driven into the middle part 1 and protruding slightly inside the latter. The barrel 10 and the notch 9 thus determine the orientation of the cup-bottom relative to the caseband.
The cuvette bottom will preferably be of deep drawn stainless steel which is very economical to manufacture. The notch 9 will be cut with a pendulum or with the press, the groove 3a will be made with the tool.
In the case of a case intended for a chronograph, the side wall 8 will also have notches for the passage of the barrels of the pushers.
