Additional patent to main patent no. 305726. Process for the production of a dye from the dioxazine series. It has been found that a valuable dioxazine dye is obtained when using the compound of the formula
EMI0001.0004
Treated with ring-closing and at the same time sulfonating agents and splitting off sulfonic acid groups in the dioxazine obtained in such a way that each of the radicals I and II still contains a sulfonic acid group.
The new dye is a dark powder that dissolves in water. violet paint dissolves and dyes cotton, rayon from regenerated cellulose and paper in red, blue tones.
The compound used here as starting material can be obtained by condensation of 1 mole of 2,3,5,6-tetrachloro-ehinone (cliloranil) with 2 moles of 2-cyclohexylamino-5-aminobenzene-1-sulfonic acid.
The treatment of the compound thus obtainable with ring-closing and at the same time sulfonating agents can be carried out according to methods known per se. The use of sulfuric acid with a content of free sulfur trioxide (oleum) proves to be particularly expedient, the sulfur trioxide content of the oleum being within wide limits, e.g. B. between 5 to 651 / o-, can vary.
The oleum, which contains about 5 to 24 / o of free sulfur trioxide, generally does a good job. The ring closure is preferably carried out at a temperature of 90 to 95. All or some of the oleum can be replaced by chlorosulfonic acid.
Example: 10 parts of the compound of the formula (1) are dissolved in 50 parts of monohydrate. Then 50 parts of 24% oleum are added and the solution is heated to 90 to 95 in the course of 7.1 / 2 hours and stirred at this temperature for a further 11/2 hours. After cooling, the solution is increased to 160 Parts of ice discharged and heated to 90 to 100 for a few hours. After the usual work-up, a dye is obtained which dyes cotton in reddish-tinged blue shades.
The compound of the formula (1) given above is prepared by aqueous condensation of cyclohexylamine with 5-nitro-2-chlorobenzene-1-sulfonic acid sodium in the presence of magnesium oxide at 160 to 165. By reducing the condensation product with iron, 2-cyclohexylamino-5-aminobenzene-1-sulfonic acid is obtained.
54 parts of this acid, 24.6 parts of chloroanil and 9.26 parts of magnesium oxide are stirred in 300 parts of water for 6 hours at 60 to 65 hours. The deposited condensation product is filtered off and washed with water until the filtrate is only slightly red-brown in color. is. The blackish product is then dried at 80 to 90 in vacuo.
