Apparatus for drawing. The object of the present invention is an apparatus for drawing, in particular for making high precision drawings. This apparatus is characterized in that it comprises a frame on which a carriage is mounted so as to be able to be moved in two perpendicular directions, this carriage carrying a guide intended to maintain a tracer member in a position perpendicular to the plane of sin of a drawing support mounted on the frame, means being provided for accurately measuring the movements of said carriage in each of said directions.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the apparatus forming the subject of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a front view thereof, 1a is a sectional section. To make the drawing clearer, fig. 1 is executed along the X-Y plane of FIG. 2. Figs. 3 to 12 re present details of this form of execution.
The drawing placed at A can be traced on paper, on varnished glass (in this case, the tracer member can be a point or a chisel which cuts the varnish) or on any other material (metal, celluloid, etc.) .
The drawing is fixed on a frame B by means of the flanges Bl and can be lit from behind by dles bulbs or discharge tubes C. This frame B is mounted on a round support D rotating freely around its axis D1. It is supported axially on its edge by three rollers D2 pivoting on axes fixed radially relative to the support, these axes being distributed symmetrically and fixed to the frame E of the apparatus.
The edge of the media is divided into degrees. These divisions come opposite a vernier F1 mounted on a slider lF which can move on a curved rail El fixed to the frame E. This slider F can be locked on the rail E1 by means of a screw F2. It also carries a lever F3, one end of which is terminated by a hook F4 entering into engagement with che towns D4 distributed regularly on the per turn of the support D at angles used regularly (15, 30, 45, etc.). An F5 screw is used to lock the support in the desired position.
The frame E carries a frame G1, G2, G3, G4 formed of four bars perpendicular to each other, this frame serving as a guide for two rules H1 and IH2, these two rules being able to be moved independently of one of]. ' the other by a carriage .I sliding on each (the two rulers. The ruler Hl is. guided to be moved parallel to. its side by a cable device. The ruler Hl is. guided on the sides GI and G3 of the frame by mules 113 and H4, these rollers comprising three; or; les, one for the bar and two for targets, the internal diameters of these three barley being.
A cable 1I5, fixed to the frame by one end at 1I6, passes through a groove in the roller H3 and the roller. H4, and the other end is attached to a H7 screw to adjust the tension of the H5 cable. Another H8 cable, fixed at H9, passes over gaets H3 and H4 and is attached to an H10 screw. A roller H11 mounted on a spring lever always presses the rule H1 against the side Gl of the frame. The carriage J7 slides on the rule H11 by means of rollers Jl, J2 and J3, and on the rule H2 by means of rollers J4, J5 and J6. J3 and J6 rollers can be mounted on spring levers to allow the J6 carriage to slide freely and without play on the rulers.
The rollers Jl and J6 have a grooved extension allowing small movements of the carriage on each of the two rules; all you have to do is hold the ruler and press the roller with your thumb, giving it a movement that will make it move forward or backward. J7 and J8 are two levers making it possible to block the carriage respectively on the rule H1 or H2. The rules H1 and H2 each bear a graduation Hl2 and H13 opposite which are verniers J12 and J13 fixed to the carriage J. The carriage J consists of two plates J14 and J15 held together by spacers serving as axes for the rollers .
The carriage J also carries a guide for a tracer member K, an IL compass for small circles, a support M1 for an N-rod compass and two optical centering devices 01 and 02. On the carriage J is mounted in P a device commonly called the drawing device head, carrying two square and graduated rulers P1 and P1 'which can be brought into contact with the drawing; these rules can be moved by a next P2 button. angles indicated on a dial P3 and blocked by a stopper device if they are commonly used angles, or by a screw device if there are other positions. This device P makes it possible to draw or quickly control a part of the drawing which does not need excessive precision; it is provided with a spring to remove the rules from the drawing.
The head P is placed on the carriage J so that the side of the rule P1 placed horizontally corresponds exactly to the layout obtained by the tracer member K. The whole of the carriage and the rule Hl is balanced by a counterweight R acting by R1 cables guided by R2 pulleys.
Fig. 3 shows, in elevation and in section, the tracer member K and its guide K1. Fig. 4 is a plan view of this assembly; the tracer member K can be a pencil, a point, a chisel or a line puller, depending on the case. It must slide freely and without play in its guide K1; this is obtained by three grooves K3, K4, in which are introduced K5 balls separated by a K6 plug.
The central opening of the guide K1 being a little larger than the diameter of the tracer organ K, the balls K5 are pressed against the tracer member by a spring K14. The tracer member carries an ankle KS which can enter the slots K9 provided in a nut K2 for fixing the guide K1 on the plate J14 of the carriage. 7. A spring loaded K7 socket pushes the plotter back so that it does not touch the design by its own weight.
Fig. 5 is a plan view and FIG. 6 an elevation section of the compass L provided for tracing key circles 60 mm in diameter for example. It consists of a ring L3 which can rotate freely, around its axis perpendicularly, to the drawing; it is guided by the. inner ring L1 of a ball bearing L? fixed to the plate J15 of the carriage J. The ring L3 comprising a groove L4 in which slides a strip L5 carrying a sleeve L6 serving as a guide for a tracer member L7 which can. slide there freely and. without clearance.
The tracer member L7 carries a pin LS penetrating into a slot L10, this pin L8 being pushed upwards by a piston L11 pushed by a spring. L12. The L5 ruler is graduated. These graduations arrive opposite a vernier L13 indicating the radius of the circles to be traced.
The strip can be locked on the prison L3 by a screw L14. The compass L is fixed on the carriage .7 so that its axis is away from the axis of the tracing organ K by 0 mm in the horizontal direction and 100 mm in the vertical direction, in order to simplify the calculations of the coordinates for centering the circles. The larger circles will be drawn by the N compass shown in plan in fig. 7 and in profile section in FIG. 8. This compass comprises an NI tube at the lower end of which there is a part N2 in transparent material, bearing in its center a reticle and pierced with a small hole; the other end of tube N1 carries a part N3 fixed to the support M (fig. 1).
On this tube Nl can slide and rotate freely a tube N4, by means of a ball bearing. The balls are housed in a tube N 9 having housings N18; the tube N9 has an axial travel limited, on the one hand, by a plug N10 and, on the other hand, by a part N5 having a hole N6 in which is fixed a rod N11 of triangular profile. This rod carries an N12 cursor fitted with an N13 vernier which can be blocked by an N14 screw. This cursor carries an N15 tracer unit which can be blocked by an N16 screw. The rod N11 carries a graduation which comes opposite the vernier N13 and allows the radius of the circle to be drawn to be read. A rod N17 having a fine point can be introduced into the hole of part N2, this to mark the center of the circle to be drawn.
Figs. 10 and 11 show, in plan and in sectional profile, an optical centering device such as that O2 of the tracer member K and that O1 of the compass L. It consists of a plate made of transparent material O3 carried by an axis O4 swiveling in a socket O5 fixed to the carriage J (end-. 1). On this plate 03 is engraved a reticle O8 corresponding exactly to the center of the tracer member IK, this at the moment when the plate 03 presses against a stop 06. A spring, not shown, maintains the. plate 03 pressed against stop O6. The button O7 of the axis O4 allows to place or to retract the reticle as well as to press it on the sin. Fig. 12 shows a line puller constituting the tracer member.
It consists of a cylindrical body S having spout branches S1 and drilled axially to allow the passage of a rod S2 carrying in S3 a cone symmetrically separating the branches of the line pulling spout. This rod S2 is screwed in S k into the body S. An ankle S5 guides the line puller in its marking position.
In a variant, it is possible to provide the gaets D2 mobile on levers making it possible to move the surface of the sins away from or nearer them with respect to the carriage.
The frame can be mounted on a base allowing optionally to vary its inclination or height.
