Drawing apparatus The present invention relates to a drawing apparatus which is characterized in that it comprises a graduated rule capable of pivoting and sliding with respect to a tenon carried by an arm mounted rotatably around a core, a locking device making it possible to fix the position of the rule relative to said arm.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the drawing apparatus, object of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a partial plan view of this embodiment.
. Fig. 2 is an elevational view, partially in section.
Fig. 3 is a cross section of the graduated ruler.
Fig. 4 is a section of a detail, on an enlarged scale.
The drawing apparatus represented in the drawing com takes a graduated ruler 1, made for example of wood or of a transparent material, and having over the greater part of its length a slot 2. On its underside, the ruler 1 has furthermore, a groove 3, the width of which is approximately three times greater than that of the slot 2; the length of the groove 3 is a little greater than that of the slot 2. In the slot 2 is engaged a cylindrical tenon 4, one end 5 of which is threaded, while its other end carries a plate 6 of rectangular shape, having approximately the same width as the groove 3, but being able to slide freely in this groove.
The tenon 4 passes through a hole made in the free end of an arm 7, and a locking chicken 8 is screwed onto the threaded part 5 of the tenon 4.
The other end of the arm 7 has the form of a ring 9 and is rotatably mounted around a core 10 whose periphery 11 is knurled. A circular plate 12 is fixed by screws 13 to the core 10 and axially maintains the ring 9 of the arm 7. In a cylindrical recess 14 of the core 10 is freely adjusted a ring 15 movable in height. Three screws 16 fitted with spikes 17 are screwed into the ring 15.
The middle part 18 of the leg of each screw 16 has no thread and can slide freely in holes of the core 10 and of the plate 12. On the core 10 is screwed a ring 19 serving to keep in height a converging lens 20 adjusted. in a recess 21 of the core 10. Below the lens 20, the core 10 has a frustoconical recess 22 whose small base is turned towards the side of the wafer 12. In a frustoconical recess 23 of the wafer 12 is placed a centering glass 24 coaxial with lens 20.
The lens 20 and the centering glass 24 together constitute an optical collimator. A circle 25 is engraved on the underside of the lens 20; likewise, on the underside of the centering lens 24 is etched a circle 26 with a radius smaller than that of the circle 25. The two circles 25 and 26 are coaxial. The void between the glass 24 and the len til 20, that is to say the interior of the recess 22, is preferably filled with cedar oil. This substance, which has a refractive index close to that of glass, will provide the whole with perfect transparency and great clarity.
To use the apparatus, we begin by moving the core 10, on the sheet of paper, so that the circles 25 and 26 are, seen in plan, concentric at the point chosen as the center. During this search for the center, the ring 15 is in the raised position, so that the tips 17 of its screws 16 do not risk scratching the paper. Once the center has been found, the ring 15 is pressed, so that the latter slides in the recess 14 of the core 10 and that the tips 17 of the screws 16 sink into the sheet of paper.
The chicken 8 is then loosened, allowing the rule 1 to slide and rotate in any way desired with respect to the stud 4. When the rule 1 has the desired position, the chicken 8 is clamped, which fixes the position of rule 1 in relation to arm 7.
The upper edge of the core 10, adjacent to the knurled part 11, is marked with two lines located 900 from each other and bearing the indications V (vertical) and H (horizontal), which makes it possible to identify the position of the core, in such a way that if one wishes, after having moved it, to replace it in the same position, the points fall back into the same holes and do not pierce the sheet of paper unnecessarily.
The apparatus described makes it possible to perform with respect to a point coinciding with the center of the collimator 20, 24, the rotation of any straight line, and to transfer it to 3600, rule 1 being aligned with said straight line.
By way of example, here are some cases of constructions that are commonly found in industrial design and that facilitate the use of the device described 1) Study drawings: rotation of parts or parts of parts in view of the analysis of forces and movements; 2) Drawing of any figure comprising similar shapes arranged in a star with respect to an axis, for example plan view of milling cutters, turbines, rotors or stators of electric motors, alternators, turbojet parts, clock parts such as dials, cogwheels, calendar discs, etc.
