Device for threading a thread through a needle eye. The present invention relates to a device for threading a thread through a needle eye.
The idea has long been taken of remedying the difficulties of threading by hand by using various devices to facilitate the threading. But the known devices of the. genus in question have not spread in practice, in particular because of their difficult maneuvering and their small dimensions. Each time, you have to look for them on a sewing table, adapt the thread to be threaded to them and handle them with one hand while the needle is held with the other. All of this is inconvenient and time consuming, so that the benefit realized becomes illusory in many cases.
The device forming the subject of the invention does not have the aforementioned drawbacks. It is characterized in that it comprises a dimensioned hook, so as to be able to pass through said eye and to carry with it the thread to be threaded when the hook is withdrawn from said eye. eye, and a body having a bearing face on which a needle is intended to be applied, said hook being capable of being brought into a position such that it protrudes on said bearing face in order to be able to s' engage in the eye of said needle.
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, three embodiments of the device forming the subject of the invention. Fig. 1 is a general longitudinal section of a first embodiment.
Fig. 2 ien is a plan view with the base removed.
Fig. 3 is a partial side view of the. fig. 1.
Fig. 4 and 5 are two partial perspective views showing two phases of the threading of a thread in lie, eye of a needle.
End-. 6 and 7 are key longitudinal sections of two other embodiments.
The embodiment shown in fi-. 1 Ù, 3 comprises a cylindrical body 1, the upper face of which is notched with a transverse groove 2. This body is drilled lengthwise with a bore 3 opening downwards, and which receives a cylinder 4 with gentle friction. provided with a lower threaded tail 5 screwed into a hollow column 6, the bottom of which is screwed to an external base 7.
The cylinder 4 carries at its upper part a shank 5 ', analogous to the shank 5, and this shank, 5' carries an axial rod 8 extended by a hook 9, the rod 8 and the hook 9 being housed in bores suitable 10 and 11, located as an extension of the aforementioned bore 3. The last bore 11 has an oval section (fig. 2) and it opens into the groove 2. The hook is guided in this bore 1.1 in such a way that it cannot be rotated with respect to the body 1.
A spring 12 is arranged between the top of the cylinder 4, around the tail 5 'and the bottom of the bore 3.
It will also be noted that the lower tail 5 also carries a rod 8 'extended by a hook 9'. These organs find their place inside column 6.
The body 1 comprises on the side a plate 13 on which opens a narrow longitudinal slot 14 communicating with the bore 3. The slot 14 extends on the face of the plate 13 by ire shallow groove in which is housed a metal wire 15 whose tail 15a, folded at the square, crosses the. slot 14 and engage in a hole 16 of cylinder 4.
The wire 15 exceeds the upper part of the body 1 and there forms ire oblique branch 15b. It is held in place by the head of a screw 17, said head being cut laterally, so that the wire 15 can be released by simple rotation of the. screw 17 by a fraction of a turn.
It will also be noted that the cylinder 4 is pierced with a second hole 16 'symmetrical with respect to the aforementioned hole 16.
The operation is as follows: We place the needle to receive a thread in the groove 2, the eye flat and to the right of the center of the upper .face of the body 1. Then we exert pressure on the needle as well placed.
Under the action of this pressure, the body 1 is lowered against the spring 12, which has the effect of causing the hook 9 to penetrate the eye 18 of the needle 19 (FIG. 4).
This done, the thread 20 is passed under the hook 9 and against the branch 15b which serves as a guide.
The pressure exerted on the needle 19 is then released. The spring 12 causes the body 1 to rise and the hook 9 is withdrawn from the eye 18, bringing the thread 20 with it (FIG. 5). The thread is thus threaded through the eye of the needle.
An important advantage of the embodiment which has just been described is that it is possible to turn cylinder 4 end to end when the hook 9 has been accidentally broken in service. It is in fact easy to check that everything being symmetrical, the hook 9 ′ can take the place of the hook 9. This allows the worker to immediately restore it. the defective device without having to disturb a mechanic or foreman in the event of the hook breaking. To perform this reversal, the screw 17 is first turned so that the cutaway of its head releases the wire 15 which is removed. Body 1 can then be removed in turn.
The cylinder 4 is unscrewed, the spring 12 is changed aside and said cylinder is screwed into the column 6 by its end 5 '. Then the body 1 and the wire 15 are replaced, the heel 15a of which then engages in the hole 16 ', and the device is ready to operate again.
In the embodiment shown in FIG. 6, a cwchet 9 is engaged by its tail in a kind of piston 21 sliding in an internal bore 3 of a body 1 and is secured by its lower end to a cap 22. A spring 12 is arranged between the cap 22 and the body 1. The latter is cut laterally with a longitudinal slot 23, in which is housed with a possibility of significant longitudinal sliding a screw 24 which is screwed into the piston 21 to block the tail of the hook 9 in place.
Here again the hook 9 can slide when a needle is pressed in the end groove 2 of the body 1 while maintaining the cap 22 which acts as the base 7 of FIG. 1. To facilitate the establishment of the wire, @on permanently fixed on the side of the body 1 a branch 15b of metallic wire. The hook 9 is easily removable and replaceable in the event of breakage.
The embodiment shown in FIG. 7 differs in principle from the previous one only by the fixing of the hook 9, which takes place by means of a nozzle 25 screwed onto the upper end of the slotted piston 21. In addition, the keyway sliding between said piston 21 and the body 1 is produced by a screw 26 integral with the body and the smooth tip of which plays in a longitudinal groove 27 of the piston. It was assumed that the chain 22 formed a single piece with the piston 21, but it is obvious that it could be otherwise.
