Device for crimping balance shafts. The present invention relates to an apparatus for crimping ba lance shafts. This apparatus is characterized by the fact that it comprises a table intended to receive the balance and its shaft, a po tence surmounting this table and in which can slide a punch used for crimping, this punch being terminated by a split tubular part forming.
several sectors i, the ends of which have projections of the tines to penetrate into the material of the shaft to push it back onto the arm of the balance, the opening and the. closure of these sectors allowing the punch to be adapted to the size; tree lion at. crimp.
The accompanying drawing represents, to. by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention and a variant.
The thread. 1 is an elevational view, in partial section, of this embodiment. The ? is a cutaway of a detail of the. fil-. 1, on a larger scale.
The thread-. 3 is a bottom view of this detail, on a still enlarged scale.
Fig. 4 is a sectional view of a detail of the apparatus illustrating its operation.
The thread-. 5 is a perspective view of a balance shaft and part of the arm of a balance, and FIG. 6 is a cut similar to Belle de la fur. \ ?, of the variant.
The apparatus shown in fig. 1 com takes a table 1 carrying in its center a pin 2 on which a crenellated 11a can turn 3. This plate 3 is pierced with a series of holes 4. A lock 5, articulated at 6 in a groove 7 of the table 1 and that a blade spring 8 keeps engaged between the cracks of the plate, prevents the latter from rotating. An eccentric part 9a of a rod 9 carrying a control chicken 10 crosses a diametral hole of the journal 2 and allows the plate 3 to be pressed against the table, the head 2a -du journal, acting on the plate.
The different holes 4 in the series are distributed over a circle concentric with the journal 2 and have different diameters to accommodate balance shafts 11 of different dimensions.
The table 1 is surmounted by a bracket 12 in which is fixed, by means of a locking screw 13, a sleeve 14 inside which slides a rod 15 constituting a punch. This rod 15 carries an ankle 16 passing through a groove 17 of the sleeve 14. which limits the movements of the rod. A coil spring 18, bearing against a shoulder. 14a of the sleeve and against a head 15a. of the. rod 15 tends to maintain the latter in the position shown in FIGS. 1 and 2.
A control lever 19, articulated at 20 on the bracket 1?, Presses on the head 15a. of the rod 15 to allow the latter to be lowered towards the plate 3. The end of the rod 15 opposite the head 15a is tubular and cylindrical; it has two diametral slots 21 which divide this tube into four sectors 15b, the ends of which are slightly conical and have projections 22 intended to operate the crimping of the balance shaft 11 in. pushing material from the shoulder 11a of this shaft onto the arm 23 of the balance.
The outer face of the tubular part of the punch is threaded at 24; this threaded part is sui life of a conical part 25. A sleeve 26, knurled at 26a, is screwed onto the thread 2-l. It has a conical inner rim 26b supported on the conical part 25 so that by screwing this sleeve 6, the four sectors 17b are brought closer to the ends of the others, so as to. adapt the punch to. the dimension of the tree to. crimp.
The operation. of the apparatus described is as follows: Using chicken. 10, the journal 2 is loosened to release the plate 3. We then weigh on the lower part 5a of the worm 5 to release the plate which is rotated to. bring the hole q that you want to use below the punch. We release the lock 5 and we tighten the plate :) against the table 1 by maneuvering the chicken 10. The balance shaft, fitted with the balance. is then placed in hole 4.
The opening of the sectors 15b of the punch is adjusted in the form of the sleeve 26. The lever 19 is then operated so as to press the punch against the shoulder 11a of the shaft 11. The projections 22 are then imprinted in the hollow. the shoulder 11a. and the material of the latter is forced onto the arm 23. The arm of the balance is thus crimped on the shaft 11.
In the variant of the fi; r. 6, the sleeve which is fixed in the bracket 12 is desi-born by 27. The punch comprises two rods 28 and '9 located in the extension of one another and a barrel 30 surrounding part of these two rods. The latter are made unequally solid by a toothed coupling 31. A coil spring 32 is supported on a shoulder 27a of the sleeve 27 and on a head 28a. rod 28.
The end of the rod 29 is split at 33 so as to form four sectors 29a having projections 34 identical to the projections 2'2 of the first embodiment. These sectors are externally tapered and rested against a tapered inner rim 35b of a 3: 5 sleeve threading onto a thread 36 of the end of the barrel 30.
