Blood sampling device, in particular for veterinary use
The present invention relates to a blood sampling device, in particular for veterinary use.
In known devices of this type, venipuncture is obtained by a system actuated by hand in a non-automatic manner. Such devices are difficult to use and do not allow the choice of the gauge of the puncture needles. Furthermore, they are fragile due to the fact that practically all of them derive from use in human medicine and cannot be used during blood samples taken in large numbers. On the other hand, it should be considered that these blood tests must very often be made on rebellious animals with a difficult or even dangerous approach, and that the blood test should therefore be carried out accurately and quickly.
In order to overcome the drawbacks of the known devices, the present invention relates to an apparatus making it possible to use a puncture needle of one's choice and tubes calibrated as to the length of the sampling tube and the constant thickness of the stopper, and therefore carrying out large-scale blood samples, in particular from animals, under rigorous conditions of precision, purity, rapidity and ease of use.
For this purpose, the apparatus, object of the invention, is constituted by a body on which is articulated an operating handle which moves, by a nose, against the action of a spring, a rod provided with two paddles, between which the sampling tube is placed, and by a spring-loaded pawl passing through a lateral face of the body and delimiting an intermediate position for advancing the sampling tube. The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the blood sampling apparatus according to the invention.
Fig. 1 is a side elevational view, partially in section, of the apparatus.
Fig. 2 is a top view of the body of the device.
Fig. 3 is a side elevational view of a displacement rod.
Figs. 4 and 5 are views of this rod respectively according to arrows F4 and F5 of FIG. 3.
Fig. 6 is a top view of a spring loaded pawl.
Figs. 7 and 8 are side elevational and bottom views, respectively, of an operating handle.
The blood collection device shown is constituted by a body 1, by a handle 2 articulated to the body, by a rod 3 moving under the action of the handle 2 and against the force of a spring 4 the collection tube ( not shown), and by a spring-loaded pawl 5.
The body 1 has an external shape allowing good handling and good holding of the device. It is provided with two through bores 6, 7, interconnected by a groove 8. The front end of the bore 6, that is to say that opening onto the end 1 'of the body 1 is used to receive a tip 9 provided with a double needle, or a tip comprising a needle on each side. The anterior end of the bore 7 is completely closed by a nozzle 10. This bore 7 could, of course, also be produced as well as the groove 8 so as not to open out on the end 1 '.
The body 1 also has, in a side face 1 "'an oblong hole 11, and in a side face 1", a groove 12, two projecting parts 13, 13', and an opening 14 opening into the bore 7. A vertical groove 15 connects this bore 7 to the space between two tabs 16, 16 'of the body 1.
A threaded bore 17 provided in the front end 1 'of the body 1 and which opens between the tabs 16, 16' serves to receive the return spring 4, the force of which is adjustable by means of a screw 18 engaged in this bore .
The handle 2 articulated by an axis 19 between the two legs 16, 16 'of the body comprises, on the one hand, a nose 20 passing through the groove 15 and projecting into the bore 7, and, on the other hand, a boss 21 on which the spring 4 fits.
In the rod 3, guided in the bore 7, there are provided a slightly flared groove 22 in which the nose 20 of the handle 2 is engaged, and a notch 23 cooperating with the pawl 5. The rod is, moreover, provided with two pallets 24, 25 projecting, through the groove 8, in the bore 6. The pallet 24 is crossed by a hole 24 'serving for the passage of the needle directed towards the interior of the apparatus.
The pawl 5, articulated by a pin 26 between the two projecting parts 13, 13 'of the body 1, comprises a hook 27 passing through the opening 14 and a flattened part 28.
A bore 5 'serves to receive a small compression spring (not shown), the other end of which is housed in the bore 29 of the side face 1 "of the body 1.
The operation of the blood sampling apparatus thus described is as follows:
The apparatus being in the position shown in FIG. 1, that is to say in its open position, the sampling tube is placed in the groove 12 between the two pallets 24, 25; pressure is then exerted on the lever 2 which moves the rod 3 forward by its nose 20, until the hook 27 of the pawl 5, under the effect of the spring housed in the bores 5'-29, comes to engage in the notch 23 of the rod 3. The apparatus is thus in the waiting position, position in which the inner needle, thanks to the hole 24 ', is pricked without passing through it, in the stopper, generally rubber, vacuum collection tube.
For the blood sample, we continue to lower the handle 2 against the body of the device, which has the effect of moving the tube further forward and perforating the cap of the sample tube at the same time. time that the puncture of the vein. As soon as the blood harvest is finished, the handle 2 is released which, under the effect of the return spring 4, returns to its standby position, in which it is held by the hook 27 of the pawl 5; the sampling tube is also pushed backwards by the pallet 24 integral with the rod 3 moved by the nose 20 of the handle 2, which has the effect of making the needle partially exit the stopper of the tube.
To completely disengage the needle from the collection tube, it suffices to press on the flattened part 28 of the pawl 5 to disengage the hook 27 from the notch 23 of the rod 3 and allow the latter and the handle 2 to return to their open position, the ejection of the sampling tube being obtained by pushing through the oblong hole 11 of the side face 1 "'of the body 1.
