Claims (15)

  1. An assembly for detachably mounting a tool (1) on a driving member (2), comprising a tool holder (3), a mounting head (4) for the tool holder intended to be connected to the said driving member and comprising at least one seat (4a) for a corresponding part of the said tool holder, a device (6, 7) for retaining contact of the said part of the tool holder (3) with the seat, and means locating at a unique position the mounting head (4) relative to the tool holder (3) when the latter is secured to the retaining device (6, 7), an assembly in which the said means for unique location comprise at least one stop member (4i) preventing any displacement of the tool holder (3) on the seat (4a), at least in one specific direction, abutment members preventing any displacement of the said tool holder (3) on the said seat (4a) in any path transverse to the said specific direction, and at least one thrust member (10a, 10b) acting on the tool holder (3) so as to keep it in permanent contact with the said stop member, thus at the said unique location in relation to the mounting head, the assembly characterised firstly in that the mounting head is formed by a body, at least part of the external surface of which is hollowed out by a recess which has a substantially parallelepipedal general shape and which is open at one end, at least part of the base of the recess forming the said seat (4a), at least part of the longitudinal walls of the recess forming the said abutment members, and at least part of the wall of the recess, delimiting the other end of the said recess, forming the said stop member (4i), and secondly in that the tool holder (3) has the general shape of a parallelepipedal plate of a width substantially corresponding to the width of the recess provided in the mounting head (4), a first end of this plate being intended to be brought into contact with the said stop member (4i).
  2. An assembly according to claim 1, characterised in that the plate (3) has a recess (3e) intended to receive the tool (1) and opening onto a portion of the plate opposite the said first end thereof, and means (3a, 3d, 5) enabling the tool to be fixed detachably to the plate.
  3. An assembly according to claim 1, characterised in that the plate has a recess in which the tool is engaged, the latter being rendered integral with the plate by moulding the material forming the plate onto at least one portion of the tool.
  4. An assembly according to claim 2 or 3, characterised in that the said thrust member is formed by at least one resilient element (10) inserted between the body (4) and a portion of the plate (3) located opposite its first end, this element being arranged and disposed so as to be brought into a stressed state by the action of the tool holder when the latter is placed on its seat at the said unique location.
  5. An assembly according to claim 4, characterised in that the plate (3) has at least one stud (3f, 3g) projecting from at least one of the surfaces of the said plate, and in that the said resilient element (10) engages on this stud.
  6. An assembly according to claim 5, characterised in that the said element (10) is formed by a distal portion of a resilient blade covering at least part of the base of the recess of the body of the mounting head and integral with the said body.
  7. An assembly according to claim 6, characterised in that the plate (3) has two studs (3f, 3g) projecting from the side surfaces of the plate, and in that the blade (10) comprises two resilient elements (10a, 10b) intended to co-operate with the first (3f) and the second (3g) studs respectively.
  8. An assembly according to claim 1, characterised in that it comprises at least one fool-proof device (3i, 10c) intended to prevent the plate (3) from being arranged in the recess (4a) of the body of the mounting head in a different position from that enabling the plate to be placed at the said unique location.
  9. An assembly according to claim 8, characterised in that the fool-proof device is formed by at least one projecting element (10c) provided on the base of the recess (4a) of the body of the mounting head (4), and by a cavity (3i) which is provided in a portion of the plate (3) and has a position corresponding to that of the projecting element, the latter being capable of entering the cavity when the plate is introduced into the said recess in a position corresponding to that enabling it to be placed at the said unique location.
  10. An assembly according to claim 9, characterised in that the blade (10) has a tongue (10c) projecting from the base of the recess (4a) of the body of the mounting head (4), and in that the surface of the plate intended to co-operate with the said seat has an indentation (3i) arranged so as to allow the said tongue to penetrate into the interior of the said indentation freely, at least when the plate occupies the said unique location.
  11. An assembly according to claim 1, characterised in that the end of the plate (3) intended to be brought into contact with the part of the wall of the recess (4a) of the body (4) of the mounting head forming the said stop member has a semi-cylindrical section, the said part of the wall having a groove of a shape corresponding to that of the said section.
  12. An assembly according to claim 1, characterised in that the retaining device comprises at least one gripper, which consists of two jaws (6a, 7a) and is integral with one of the said elements, tool holder (3) or mounting head (4), for securing the said element to at least one portion of the other element, at least one first resilient means (8) causing the gripper to tighten with sufficient force to ensure the said securing action, and members (6, 7) which enable the gripper to be opened in opposition to the said resilient means in order to separate the tool holder from the mounting head by countering the securing action.
  13. An assembly according to claims 2 and 12, characterised in that the gripper (6a, 7a) is integral with the body of the mounting head (4), in that the said gripper is arranged in such a manner that when the gripper is in the tightened position, at least one end portion of its jaws projects from the interior of the recess (4a) of the mounting head along the two longitudinal walls of the recess, and in that the longitudinal edges of the tool holder each have a slot (3b, 3c), one of which is intended to receive the projecting portion of the first jaw (6a), and the other the corresponding portion of the second jaw (6b) of the gripper.
  14. An assembly according to any one of the preceding claims, characterised in that the surface of the plate opposite that intended to be brought into contact with the seat of the mounting head is covered with inscriptions and/or signs and/or ideograms characteristic of the nature and/or the characteristics of the tool with which it is integral.
  15. A sewing machine or an embroidering machine comprising at least one assembly according to any one of claims 1 to 14, connected to the needle bar (2, 2*) and/or the presser-foot device (22) of the machine.
