Fig. 2 ist. eine Ansicht des Stopffusses nach. Fig.1.
Darning foot arranged on the needle bar of a sewing machine. The present invention relates to a darning foot arranged on the needle bar of a sewing machine, which has a holder with a foot with a verse opening and on which a downwardly projecting spring is arranged which carries a foot disk.
In the accompanying drawing is an example. Embodiment of the subject matter of the invention: Fig. 1 is a partially perspective view of the head end of a sewing machine with a darning foot arranged on the needle bar.
Fig. 2 is. a view of the darning foot after. Fig.1.
Fig. 3 is a vertical section through the darning foot and the needle clamp according to Fig. 1. Fig. 4 is a horizontal section through the darning foot along the line 4-4 of Fig. 3. In the head 1 of the sewing machine are a pusher rod in a usual way 2 and a needle bar 3 are arranged.
The push bar is down with. a screw hole 4 provided, which is used to receive a screw for attaching a presser foot. When the machine is used for normal sewing. If, however, as in the present case, a darning foot is used, the presser foot is removed.
The needle bar 3 carries at its lower end a needle 5 which is held by a needle clamp 6 in the usual recess of the needle bar, the needle. clamp by means of an adjusting screw 7. the needle bar is attached and has an internally threaded projection 8 which is used to accommodate a needle clamp screw 9. This screw 9 presses on a shoe 10, which. in turn presses the needle against a wall of the recess of the Na delstange 3 and they ir in this way! Holds position.
A throat plate 11 fastened to the bed of the machine by the screws 12 is provided with slots 13 through which a backing 14 protrudes in order to grasp the material to be sewn and to guide it past the sewing mechanism. The throat plate 11 also sits an opening 15 through which the needle 5 prick and with a gripper arranged below the plate (not shown) can interact to form the stitches. A slide plate 16 abuts an edge of the throat plate 11 in the usual way. The construction described above is completely conventional.
The darning foot is marked as a whole with 17 be. It comprises a holder 18 which has a foot 19, the latter having a needle hole 20 in the middle. The foot 19 is provided with a peripheral groove 21 arranged concentrically with the hole 20, which groove receives the uppermost turn of a conical spring 22 which is attached to the foot 19 at a right angle in this way. The under most turns of the spring 22 run around the neck 23 of a foot disk 24, which in this way. is hold coaxial with the spring 22 ge and which runs against the edge 25 to downward.
This foot disk 24 has a central needle opening 26 and a thread guide opening 27. The neck 23 is widened outwards and upwards for receiving and fastening .der lower turns of the spring 22. The needle hole 20, the needle opening 26 and: the turns of the spring 22 delimit a funnel-shaped space through which the needle 5 runs. The needle thread is guided by a thread 10 'with. the shoe 10 consists of one piece and protrudes downwards therefrom, and through the thread opening 27 downwards and finally through the eye of the needle.
The holder 18 is formed from a single piece of resilient sheet metal. A flat shaft part 29 is. bent at right angles from foot 19 along line 28. Laterally from the shaft .. 29 along the line 30, which runs perpendicular to the line 28, at right angles to the latter and to the foot 19 a tab 31 with an opening 32 is bent, which latter is limited by a laterally protruding edge 33. The opening 32 receives the extension 8 of the needle clamp 6.
It is seen that, thanks to this construction, the holder 18 is easily positioned correctly on the needle bar and secured against vertical movement. can be. Although the edge 33 is not essential for this function, it offers the extension 8 a larger contact surface, and this results in a more stable connection. It is also evident that the screw 9 of the needle clamp must be removed if the darning foot is to be removed from the needle bar.
The tab 31 carries two opposing resilient brackets 34 and 35, which lie over the foot 19. The upper edge of the tab 31 is also bent at right angles to form a tongue 36, which tongue lies over the brackets 34 and 35. The free end of the tongue 36 is cut out in a semicircle to form an edge 37 resting against the needle bar 3. The length of the tongue 36 is such that when the holder 18 is attached to the needle bar.
is, the tongue 36 rests against it while the tab 31 is vertical.
The holder 18 can, since it consists of a single piece of sheet metal, brought into the shape described by pressing and then manufactured cheaply in large quantities. It can also be seen that the darning foot described can be easily attached to the needle bar of a sewing machine so that it is held against any movement on it.
In operation, the darning foot described works in a known manner, i.e. the sewing mechanism is operated in the usual way after the presser foot is removed from the presser bar, the presser foot 14 is disabled and the darning foot 17 is attached to the needle bar, as shown in FIG. 1 represents. The darning foot presses. the sewing material, while the needle is being pulled out of the fabric, yielding to the base, which prevents flutter and ensures the correct formation of a thread loop.
