Der Transporteur an gewöhnlichen Singer-Nähmaschinen geht aufwärts, fafst den zu benähenden Stoff, drückt diesen fest gegen den federnd nach unten pressenden Stoffdrückerfufs und hebt somit letzteren dann auch etwas an. Sodann schiebt der Transporteur den Stoff vorwärts. Letzterer mufs so unter ziemlich grofsem Druck an der unteren Fläche des Drückerfufses entlang gleiten. Alle Zeugstoffe, die einigermafsen Steifigkeit haben, können so ohne Umstände durch die Nähmaschine transportirt werden, aber die weichen Stoffe, z. B. die in neuester Zeit viel zur Verwendung kommenden feinen wollenen Tricotstoffe, sind zu weich und liegen an der Drückerfufsfläche mit zu grofser Reibung an, als dafs sie vom Transporteur in der bekannten, eben geschilderten Weise unter dem Drückerfufs hinbewegt werden könnten.
