Additional patent to main patent No. 259444. Process for the production of a disazo dye. It has been found that a valuable disazo dye is obtained by using the diazo compound of the 3lonoazo dye of the formula
EMI0001.0007
wherein the sulfonic acid group occupies the same position as the sulfonic acid group in the sulfonation of 3-nitrobenzene-sulfonic acid- (1)
-N-methylatiilid available 3-nitrobenzene-sulfonic acid- (1) - [N-methylanilide-sulfonic acid], combined with 1-phenylaminonaplithalin-8-sulfonic acid.
When dry, the new dye is a dark blue powder that dissolves in hot water with a reddish blue color and dyes wool from an acetic acid bath in navy blue tones.
The monoazo dye of the above formula used as starting material can be prepared in a manner known per se by combining, for example, diazotized 3-aminobenzenesulfonic acid (1) - [N-methylanilide-sulfonic acid] with 1-aminonaphthalene .
3-aminobenzene - sulfonic acid- (1) - [N-methyl-anilide-sulfonsäLtre1 can also be prepared according to methods known per se, for example by reacting 3-nitrobenzene-1-sulfonic acid chloride with N-methylaniline, the ent 3-nitrobenzenesulfonic acid- (1) -N-methylanilide that has been obtained is sulfonated and the nitro group is then reduced to the amino group.
The diazotization of the starting monoazo dye of the above formula can be carried out, for example, by first treating a weakly alkaline solution of the monoazo dye with an excess of nitrium nitrite solution, then with an excess of mineral acid, e.g. B. hydrochloric acid, added and the resulting, poorly soluble diazoazo compound isolated by filtration.
The coupling of the diazoazo compound with. the 1-phenylaminonaphthalene-8-sttlfonsäure happens. preferably in acidic, e.g. B. vinegar acidic medium.
Example: 6.8 parts of 3-amino-benzenesulfonic acid- (1) - [N-methylanilide-X-sulfonic acid] are dissolved in 50 parts of water by adding 0.8 parts of sodium hydroxide, and 1.4 parts of sodium nitrite are added. After adding 30 parts of ice, 10 parts of conc. Hydrochloric acid collapsed. The resulting white suspension of the diazo compound is coupled as usual with 3 parts of 1-aminonaphthalene, whereupon the red-violet dye is filtered off with suction and washed with dilute hydrochloric acid.
It is then suspended in 100 parts of water and dissolved by adding sodium hydroxide. The weakly alkaline solution is with. Added 2 parts of sodium nitrite and concentrated by collapsing 10 parts. Hydrochloric acid di anotized. The brown diazo compound is isolated, washed with dilute hydrochloric acid and suspended in 50 parts of water. 6 parts of 1-phenylaminonaphthalene-8-sulfonic acid are dissolved in 40 parts of water with the calculated amount of sodium hydroxide.
The weakly alkaline solution is made weakly acidic by adding a little acetic acid, 4 parts of crystallized sodium acetate are added and the mixture is then mixed with the above diazo suspension while cooling. The coupling is complete after a few hours.
From the deep blue solution formed after neutralization with sodium carbonate, the dye is precipitated at 700 by adding sodium chloride. It is filtered off with suction, washed ge with dilute sodium chloride solution and dried.
