Ce dispositif est, en outre, cara,ctéris,é par le fait que les organes de commande pour l'actionnement des tambours de manceuvre de chaque feuille comptable coopèrent;
Device for handling accounting sheets in an office cylinder machine. There are known accounting machines, in particular typewriters, allowing to superimpose on a sheet called <<journal located on the cylinder of the machine, one or more so-called account sheets, with a view to write a write.
To perform this operation, it is of course necessary that each account sheet placed on the journal is stopped in position on a precise entry line. In general, the. placement is performed with varying degrees of accuracy by hand.
Some, builders, however planned to perform the operation mechanically, the sheet of accounts and, to achieve the desired accuracy, they put on the cart of the. machine a di @ spo- sitive selector allowing to choose in advance for each account sheet the. exact writing position.
It is known, dispasrhfs of this kind comprising a disc-shaped support placed on one end and on the front pa.The -of the carriage, of the keys being arranged cireu- lairenient and allowing, by lowering them, to choose the entry line on which an account sheet to be stopped in posi- l,
ion. Such devices are excessively bulky and occupy a space on the carriage substantially equal to the width of the accounting sheets.
They can therefore only be foreseen on machines provided with special trolleys and it is not possible to envisage the use of such machines for correspondence without first dismantling the whole device.
The object of the present invention is a device for the handling of sheets in an office cylinder machine,
in which at least one sheet is driven by the -cylinder and the others by crosspieces Controlled by ribbons and malin- tained in a position always parallel to the axis of the latter, the ribbons, carrying the crosspieces by their endsi being connected, on the one hand,
to a tensioning drum subjected to the action of a spring -and, on the other hand, to a maneuvering drum subjected to the actio: n of an exhaust, the crosspieces being adapted to carry the sheets by their upper edge, a guide passing under the organs,
drive of the sheet carried by the cylinder being provided to freely gmider les- lower ends of the sheets carried by the crosspieces.
This device is, moreover, cara, ctéris, é by the fact that the control members for the actuation of the maneuvering drums of each accounting sheet cooperate;
with a selector device secured to one end of the carriage of the machine, this selector device comprising several rows of keys making it possible to choose in advance the stop position of each accounting sheet on a desired entry line ,
this device being so killed at the end of the carriage that it in no way hinders the use of the machine for ordinary correspondence.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, a partial embodiment of the device forming the subject of the invention, alone. the parts necessary for the understanding of the invention being represented.
Fig. 1 is a front view.
Fig. 2 is a section along the line II-II, of FIG. 1.
Fig. 3 is a perspective view with parts in section.
Fig. 4 is a section through the axis of one of the mameuvre members.
Fig. 5 is a partial view of the section shown in FIG. 4 with another position of the organs ,.
The eg. 6 is a detail view of FIG. 2. Fig. ' 7 shows, schematically - in perspective, the relative position on the cylinder of three accounting sheets A, B and C.
The organs described and represented in the sin: of the main patent are provided with. even my reference numbers.
Each of the cranks 31 and 32 is wedged on one. axis 29, respectively 30. These axes are each integral with a toothed sector @ # 2 7, respectively 28, meshing with a pinion 25, respectively 26.
These pig-nons @ are mounted on shafts 23, respectively 24, each carrying two drums, maneuvering 21, respectively 22, on which run ribbons 19 and 20 starting from the sleepers supporting the accounting sheets B and C shown. - tees in fig. 7.
By each of the cranks 31 and 32, the movement of one of the leaves B and C. is controlled.
At its two ends, the charfat comprises a flange 10 in which sweat formed the bearings for the pins 23, 24, 29 and 30. On the right flange 10 is fixed a -carter 50, by means of screws 51.
This casing consists of a hollow body having the general shape of a cylinder sector open axially on one of its sides and coaxial with the shaft 30.
On part of its peripheral surface, this cylinder has slots 52 arranged parallel to each other sUivaut des Génatrhces and located in. planes passing through the axis, of the cylinder. These.
slots 52 do not pass through the outer wall of the housing and extend only a part of its thickness.
In each slot is housed a key lever 53 hinged at 54 to its ends and each lever has a nose 55 for a key, these noses being offset. usus in relation to the others for three successive keys.
Each lever 53 comprises, near its end opposite to its articulation 54, a projection 56 directed towards the interior of the .carter 50.
On one of the sides of this projection is provided a stopper 57 intended to come into contact with the inner face of the wall containing the levers 53. On its opposite face, this projection comprises a tooth 58 adjoining an inclined plane 59. .
The end 60 of each lever 53, located beyond the projection 56, constitutes a stopper.
At the bottom of each slot 52 is disposed a spring 53a which tends to maintain the key lever in the position shown in FIG. 4.
Next to it. key levers 53, the housing contains an articulated part 61, presenting the general shape of a disk sector. This sector is articulated in,
its central part on two arms 62 integral with the housing 50 and it is subjected to the action of a spring 63 which tends to move its free end towards the interior of the housing. The sector 61 has a peripheral edge 64 curved towards the inside of the casing.
Each of the two shafts 29 and 30 is supported by a lever 65, respectively 66. The latter, which is integral with the shaft 30, is located in a plane passing through. the extremity 60 of the levers 53. It comprises at its free end -a pawl 67 articulated at 68 -and subjected to the action of a spring 69.
The arrangement is such that when a key, for example the Ne 14, of the keyboard is lowered, the end 60 of its lever is in the path of the pawl 67 (see fig. 2).
If another key is lowered above this lever before it has returned to its starting position, pawl 67 may go under. this end (see fig. 6), thanks to its spring 69.
The shaft 30 carries a lever 66a in all respects identical to the lever 66, but spinning crazy on it and moving. also in a plane passing through the ends 60 of the key levers.
This lever 66a is connected by a connecting rod 70 to the lever 65 integral with the shaft 29. It follows that, when the latter is actuated by the crank 31, the arm 66a moves like the arm 66 when the shaft 30 is actuated by the crank 31. The housing 50 is closed by a cover 71.
The intervals between the levers 53 of the keys are provided so that the position defined by each lever corresponds to a line of writing on the accounting sheets.
In the example described, it is expected that each leaf has 27 Vines, of writing, e. The operation of the device shown and described is as follows, assuming that it is desired to place, in relation to a newspaper sheet A lying on the cylinder of the machine, an account sheet B on the line of entry 14 and a sheet C on entry line 5 (see fig. 7)
The two sheets B and C being placed on their crosspieces carried by the strips 19 and 20, we begin by lowering the key No 14 of the keyboard, as shown in fig. 1, 2 and 5.
The depression of this key does not make it stand out; represented in the. fig. 4 to that of FIG. 5.
In fig. 4, it can be seen that the curved edge 64 of the sector 61 rests against the inclined plane 59 of the projection 56 of the lever 53, the stop 57 resting against the inner wall of the housing 50. By lowering the lever 53 against the action, of its spring 53a, the flange 64 is slid on the plane 59 until quM comes into engagement with the tooth 58 under the action of the spring 63.
The lever 53 then occupies the position shown in FIG. 5 and its end 60 is truve on the path of the pawls 67 carried by the ends of the two levers 66 and 66a.
If the lever 31 is then actuated in an anti-clockwise direction (fig. 2), it can be seen that its travel is stopped by the abafis.s6 lever and key No 14. Sheet B will stop - therefore in writing position on its fourteenth line.
To bring the sheet C into position on its fifth line of writing, the key N e 5 is then abolished. The depression of this key moves the sector 61, which releases the key Nc 14 which. returns to its normal position under the action of its spring 53a. The lever of the.
key No 5 is, on the other hand, retained; in the position shown in eg. 5.
The lever 32 is then actuated in the same way as the lever 31 and its pawl 67 stops its movement on the end of the lever of the key Ne 5.
Sheet C is then stopped with its fifth row in the trim position.
The @dhsspolsiitif .described could have more or less than three rows of tauche @ s. Instead of being placed on each of the two shafts 29 and 30, the levers 31 and 32 could both be provided on the shaft 30, the levl! Er 31 then being mounted idle; on a socket integral with the lever 66a ..
The device described makes it possible to obtain. mechanically the positioning, in a precise position, of several countable sheets, in relation to a sheet on the cylinder of the machine. It is clear that one can provide a selector device of the type described,
allowing the establishment of more than -two accounting sheets.
The selector key keypad, disposed on one end of the carriage and at the end of the latter, has its keys arranged in parallel rows in planes transverse to the roller of the machine. It is, therefore, compact and compact. , although fixed to, remains on the carriage, it in no way prevents the use of the machine for correspondence.
The various elements and members of the device claimed in the main patent have not been illustrated and described again here in order to avoid unnecessary repetition:
, but it is obvious that the embodiment, given by way of example and with reference to the appended drawing, includes, as well as all the variants, all the characters mentioned in the claim of the main patent.
