Process for the preparation of an aromatic acylsulfonamide. The present patent is a process for the preparation of an aromatic acylsulfonamide. The process is characterized in that a compound of the formula
EMI0001.0005
and a compound of the formula
EMI0001.0006
-orin X and Y reactive, in the reaction, with the exception of an NN group contained in one of them, mean splitting radicals, can act on one another.
The resulting new compound, N- (3 ', 4'-dimethyl-benzoyl) -naphthalene-2-sulphonamide, melts at 210 after recrystallization. It forms salts with inorganic or organic bases. It should be used as a disinfectant.
Example 1: 20 parts of naphthalene-2-sulfonamide are refluxed for several hours in 200 parts of chlorobenzene with 15 parts of 3,4-dimethylbenzoic acid and 20 parts of phosphorus pentoxide and then the chlorobenzene is boiled with it Steam distilled off. The residue is taken up in bicarbonate solution, taken up, treated with animal charcoal, filtered and precipitated with acetic acid.
By recrystallization from alcohol, the N- (3 ', 4'-dimethyl'-benzoyl) -naphthalene-2-sulphonamide is obtained completely pure.
Example 2: 35 parts of naphthalene-2-sulfonamide are dissolved in 110 parts of absolute pyridine, 28 parts of 3,4-dimethylbenzoic acid chloride are added in portions and the batch is heated to 80-90 for 3 hours. After cooling, it is poured into dilute hydrochloric acid, the N- (3 ', 4'-dimethyl-benzoyl) -naphthalene-2-sulfonamide crystallizing out. For cleaning, the compound is taken up in bicarbonate solution, treated with animal charcoal, filtered and precipitated with acetic acid.
Recrystallized from dilute alcohol, the product melts at 210. If the calculated amount of sodium alcoholate is added to the alcoholic solution, the sodium salt of N- (3 ', 4'-dimethylbenzoyl) naphthalene-2-sulfonamide is easily formed.
Example 3: 20.7 parts of naphthalene-2-sulfonamide who are suspended in 100 parts of nitrobenzene, with 19 parts of aluminum chloride and 16.8 parts of 3,4-dimethylbenzoic acid chloride and the mixture some Heated to 50 hours. The nitrobenzene is then distilled off with steam and the residue is taken up in soda solution.
The N- (3 ', 4'-dimethyl-benzoyl) -naphthalene-2-sulfonamide is precipitated from the filtered solution with acetic acid and purified from alcohol by recrystallization.
Instead of aluminum chloride as a condensing agent, one can just as easily use copper powder as. Use a catalyst.
Example 14.9 parts of 3,4-dimethylbenzoic acid amide are dissolved in 200 parts of absolute xylene, 4 parts of sodium amide are added and the mixture is heated until the evolution of ammonia ceases. After cooling down, add 22,
6 parts of naphthalene-2-sulfochloride in 100 parts of xylene are added and the mixture is heated under reflux for several hours. After the reaction has ended, the solvent is distilled off in vacuo, the residue is taken up in bicarbonate solution and filtered. By acidifying with hydrochloric acid, the N- (3 ', 4'-dimethyl-benzoyl)
- Naphthalene-2-sulfonamide precipitated. The new compound can be made completely pure by recrystallization from alcohol.
