, orin X and Y reactive, in the reaction with the exception of an NH group contained in one of them splits 1c = ndc. Remnants mean interacting with one another.
The resulting new connection, that.; - (1 '- Naphthoy 1) - naphthalene - 2-sulfonamide, seliniilziert after recrystallization at 181 to 182 ". It forms salts with inorganic or organic bases. It is said to be used as a disinfectant.
Example 1: 20 parts of naphtha, lin-2-sulfonamide are in 200 parts of chlorobenzene with 17.2 parts of r,: - Naplithoic acid and 20 parts of phosphorus pentoxide for several hours under reflux; .choch and then the chlorobenzene finely distilled off water vapor. The residue is taken up in bicarbonate solution, treated with animal charcoal, filtered and precipitated with acetic acid.
By recrystallization from alcohol, the N- (1 'naphthoyl) -naphthalene-2 = sulfonamide is obtained completely pure.
Example 2: 35 parts of naphthalene-2-sulfonamide are dissolved in 110 parts of absolute pyridine, 33.3 parts of α-naphthoyl chloride are added in portions, and the batch takes 3 hours 80 to 90 heated. After cooling, it is poured into dilute hydrochloric acid, the N- (1'-naphthoyl) -naphthalene-2-sulfonamide crystallizing out. For cleaning, the compound is taken up in bicarbonate solution, treated with animal charcoal, filtered and precipitated with acetic acid.
Recrystallized from dilute alcohol, the product melts at 181 to 182. If the calculated amount of sodium alcoholate is added to the alcoholic solution, the sodium salt of N- (1'-naphthoyl) -naphtha.Iin-2 sulfonamides is easily formed.
Example 3: 20.7 parts of naphthalene-2-sulfonamide are suspended in 100 parts of nitrobenzene, 19 parts of aluminum chloride and 19 parts of a-naphthoyl chloride are added and the mixture is heated to 50 for a few hours. Here on the nitrobenzene is distilled off with steam and the residue is taken up in soda solution. The N- (1'-naphthoyl) -naphthalene-2-sulfonamide is precipitated from the filtered solution with acetic acid and purified by recrystallization from alcohol.
Instead of aluminum chloride as a condensing agent, one can just as well use copper powder as a catalyst. Example 4: 17.1 parts of a-naphthoic acid amide are dissolved in 200 parts of absolute xylene, 4 parts of sodium amide are added and the mixture is warmed until the evolution of ammonia ceases.
After cooling, 22.6 parts of naphthalene-2-sulfochloride in 100 parts of xylene are added and the mixture is refluxed for several hours. After the reaction has ended, the solvent is distilled off in vacuo, the residue is taken up in bicarbonate solution and filtered. The N- (1'-naphthoyl) -naphthalene-2-sulfonamide is precipitated by acidification with hydrochloric acid.
By recrystallizing from: alcohol, the new compound can be made completely pure.
