Process for the production of a vat dye. It has been found that a vat dye can be produced if 1 mole of 1,9,5,10-anthradithiazole-2,6-dicarboxylic acid or one of its functional derivatives is reacted with 2 moles of 1-mercapto-2-aminoanthraquinone .
The new dye is a brown powder that dissolves in concentrated sulfuric acid with a red color and dyes cellulose fibers from geiboliver güpe in orange-brown tones.
For the reaction with 1-141erkapto-2-aminoanthraquinone, said 1,9,5,10 - anthradithiazole - 2,6 - dica @ rboxylic acid or. expediently one of their - reactive, functional derivatives such. B. the acid chloride can be used. The implementation can be carried out, for example, in an indifferent solvent, advantageously with a high boiling point, and should be continued until hydrochloric acid and water are split off.
The 1,9,5,10 anthradithiazole-2,6-dicarboxylic acid of the formula required as starting material
EMI0001.0028
can be prepared as follows: 18.25 parts of 1,5-dichloroanthraquinone-2,6-dicarboxylic acid, 16.5 parts of sulfur, 110 parts of crystallized sodium sulfide and 290 parts of 12% ammonia are heated to 95% in a stirred autoclave for 8 hours. -105 he's hot.
After cooling, the contents of the autoclave are sucked off, the filter residue is dissolved in 600 parts of boiling water, filtered and the disodium salt of 1,9,5,10-anthradithiazole-2,6-diacid is salted from the filtrate with common salt.
Now it is suctioned off, washed with saturated sodium chloride solution, the filter cake is boiled with water while adding a little animal charcoal, filtered and the 1,9,5,10-anthradithiazole-2,6-dicarboxylic acid is precipitated from the filtrate with hydrochloric acid . After filtering, washing and drying, a yellow-green, crystalline powder which does not melt below 450 is obtained in good yield.
To prepare the acid chloride, 11.8 parts of 1,9,5,10-anthradithiazole-2,6-dicarboxylic acid are heated to boiling with 12 parts of thionyl chloride and 530 parts of dry o-dicblobenzene for 1 hour.
After 65 parts of the mixture have been distilled off - the unused thionyl chloride passing over with it - it is suctioned off while hot and the filtrate is allowed to cool.
The l, 9, 5,10 - anthraditlhiazole - 2, 6 - dica-, rboxylic acid chloride crystallizes out in greenish-yellow leaves which, after being filtered, washed and dried, melt at 323-325.
Example: 19.5 parts of 1,9,5,10-anthradithiazole-2,6-dicarboxylic acid chloride are heated to 150-160 with 1300 parts of dry trichlorobenzene while stirring and at this temperature with a hot solution of 25.5 parts of 1-mercapto-2-aminoanthraquinone in 650 parts of triehlobenzene are added. After two hours of stirring, the splitting off of hydrochloric acid and water has ended.
The dyestuff which has precipitated is filtered off with suction while warm, washed with trichlorobenzene and alcohol and dried.
The dye can be purified as follows: 2.5 parts of dye powder are dissolved in 50 parts of concentrated sulfuric acid. This solution is then carried out on ice, the precipitated dye is filtered off with suction, washed out with water and suspended in 200 parts of water. 40 parts of 14% Javelle solution are then added and the mixture is stirred for 1/2 hour at the boiling point. The dye takes on an orange-red color.
It is filtered off with suction, washed and dried. It dyes cotton in slightly purer shades than the raw product.
The dye presumably has the following constitution:
