Installation to compare the oscillations of a balance with those of a standard mechanism. The object of the present invention is an installation for comparing the oscillations of a balance with those of a standard mechanism.
This installation is characterized by a frame intended to receive the balance to be adjusted with its hairspring, and by an escapement mounted on said frame with a clockwork movement, the whole in such a way that this escapement cooperates with said balance during the comparison. .
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the installation forming the subject of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a vertical axial section through I-I of FIG. 2.
Fig. 2 is a plan view.
Fig. 3 is an enlarged view of a detail of FIG. 1.
Fig.4 is an enlarged view of a detail of fig. 2.
In the form shown, the frame com takes a base in the form of a bell enclosing a piezoelectric microphone 2 with its connection cable 2a and a gear train intended to be set in motion by a weight lever. , 3 (fig. 2).
The frame also comprises, - mounted on the base, an interchangeable adjustment head 4, carrying an escapement intended to cooperate with the balance 5 whose beats are to be counted. The latter rests by the lower point of its axis on a central bearing of a plate 6 rotatably mounted in the head 4.
The upper bearing of the balance is arranged at the end of an elbow arm 7 which can slide in a stud 8 articulated on the head 4 by means of a hinge 9.
The plate 6 carries a support 10 arranged so as to be able to be moved by pivoting around its fixing screw 11. A stop screw 12 determines the angular position of this support. The latter carries at its free end two cylinders 13 mounted in a rotational manner. One of them, pivoted on the support 10, is driven by a worm 14 with knurled head 15,
and the other is mounted by means of a spring 16, fixed to the support 10 by a screw 16a. The free end of the balance spring is inserted and clamped between the two cylinders 13.
A knife 17 pressing on a pin pin 18 integral with the support 10 and actuated by its lever 19 receives the hairspring at its exit from the drag rolls 13 and allows it to be cut in length: The -platinum 6 is integral with a plate lower 6a, the periphery of which is cut so as to mesh with a pinion 20 controlled by a knurled knob 21.
A spring washer 22 pressing under the plate 6a applies the plate 6 against an inner edge of its housing in the head 4. The plate 6a has a frustoconical hub 23 against which bears the end of an acoustic contact screw. 24 presented by the piezoelectric microphone 2.
The plates 6 and 6a also carry an escape wheel 25 driving an anchor 26 intended to cooperate with the balance 5 to be observed. The escape wheel 25 is driven by a coaxial pinion 27 and a wheel 28 placed in the axis of the device, which is in the extension of that of the balance.
The shaft of this wheel carries at its lower part a drive arm 29, cooperating with an elbow finger 30 integral with the axis of the last gear of the train 31 mounted in the base and controlled by the weight lever 3. The first wheel of this train is driven by the lever 3 by means of a ratchet 32 with spring washer, so as to allow it to be raised quickly when it has reached the bottom of its travel.
The head 4 is removable, retained on the base 1 by two spring blades 33 acting on a frustoconical bearing surface 34 which it presents towards its lower edge.
As seen in fig. 3 and fig. 4, the two cylinders 13 mesh with each other by a toothed ring 35 which they present at their lower part. One of the cylinders has a circular bearing surface or collar 36 which engages in a corresponding groove provided on the other cylinder, so as to form a support for the spiral 37.
On the axis of the cylinder 13 which is inside the hairspring, there is a cap 38 having a lug 38a forming the hairspring counting stop.
The operation of this device is as follows: To count the: ba # ements of a bala.n- eier, it is placed on the device, as shown in 5, with its hairspring passed between the two cylinders 13.
The balance is started, which continues to oscillate under the action of the weight lever 3, the gear trains 31 and 28, 27, and the escapement 25, 26.
The knurled knob 21, by rotating the plates 6 and 6a via the pinion 20, makes it possible to quickly put the escapement in an angular position giving an oscillation, symmetrical to the baf laneier. If the electric comparison device, to which the piezoelectric microphone 2 is connected by the cable 2a,
indicates too much or a lack of beats, the active length of the hairspring is corrected by turning the knurled head 15 of the worm 14 controlling the drive cylinders 13 of the hairspring. At the same time, the position of button 21 must be corrected to maintain the sy metric oscillation.
We can provide heads 4 prepared for different sizes of rockers, because they are easily interchangeable by retracting or moving horizontally the support 10, on the one hand, and vertically the arm 7, on the other hand.
The counting method described has great advantages over the usual method, which consists in suspending the balance by its hairspring above the comparison balance.
In the usual method, it is difficult to judge whether a slight deviation in the beat is plus or minus, while with the apparatus described, if it is used with a comparison electric apparatus, one sees suddenly whether the difference is positive or negative. In addition, the device described has the advantage that the measurement already includes errors due to the escapement of the watch,
if the latter is of the same type as that of the watch for which the balance is intended, so that a watch fitted with a hairspring adjusted with the installation described does not need to be further adjusted after assembly.
