  Verfahren zur Herstellung von     1-Phenyl-2-dimethylaminopropanol-(1).            Cregenstand    des     vorliegenden        Patentes    ist  ein Verfahren zur Herstellung von     1-Phen:yl-          2-.dimethylamino-propanol-(1),    das dadurch       gekennzeichnet    ist, dass man     1-Pheny        1-2-          Aminaprapanol=(1)    mit     Farmaldehyd    und       Ameisensäure    erhitzt.  



  Das Produkt ist bekannt und soll als       Arzneimittel    Verwendung finden.    <I>Beispiel:</I>  200 Teile     1-Phenyl-2-amino-propanol-1-          hydroehlorid    werden nach Zusatz von 60 Tei  len     Wasser        und    120 Teilen     30%iger    Natron  lauge sowie 150     Teilen        Ameisensäure    und  250 Teilen     technischer        Formaldeyhcl-Lösung     3 Stunden lang unter Druck auf     l25     erhitzt.

      Nach dem Erkalten und nach     Druckentla-          stung        wird    aus der Reaktionsflüssigkeit :das       N-Methylephedrin,durch        Zusatz    von Natron  lauge abgeschieden. Aus alkoholischer Salz  säure kristallisiert das Hydrochlorid vom  Schmelzpunkt 206 .
