Description

Additional patent to the main patent No. 214610. Process for the preparation of a sulfonic acid of trimethyl-2,4-diamino-5-phenyl-6-heptadecyl-1,3,5-triazine. The subject of the present additional patent is a process for the preparation of a sulfonic acid of trimethyl-2,4-diamino-5-phenyl-6-heptadecyl-1,3,5-triazines, characterized in that one phenyl biguanide with stearic acid or a functional derivative same to 2,4-diamino-5-phenyl-6-heptadecyl-1,3,

5-triazine condenses, this is trimethylated and the trimethyl compound is sulfated.

The new compound, in the form of the sodium salt, is a yellowish white crystal powder that is clearly soluble in water. It can be used as a textile auxiliary, in particular as a stripping agent in vat dyeing and as a leveling agent in cotton dyeing.

Example: Phenyl biguanide, dissolved in approximately ten times the amount of chlorobenzene, is reacted with the equimolecular amount of stearic acid chloride at 50 0 in the presence of a small excess of soda, whereby the temperature rises by itself towards 100. The mixture is heated further to 115 at last, stirred for 14 hours, diluted after cooling to 80 using methanol, the undissolved salts are filtered off and the solution of the intermediate product formed is completely concentrated in vacuo.

100 parts of intermediate product, which is 2,4 diamino-5-phenyl-6-heptadecyl-1,3,5-triazine, dissolved in 450 parts of toluene, is stirred with 110 parts of calcined soda, 95 parts of dimethyl sulfate are run in and about 5 parts are stirred For hours under reflux condenser heating. It is then filtered hot and the solution of the trimethyl compound formed is evaporated in vacuo.

Per 100 parts of residue are dissolved in 200 parts of sulfuric acid monohydrate, gradually 100 parts of 26% oleum are added and stirring is continued until a sample of the reaction mixture dissolves clearly in lye. Then it is stirred with ice water, the aqueous layer is drawn off, the undissolved material is made into a paste with water and neutralized with sodium hydroxide solution.

Evaporation of the solution thus obtained in vacuo gives 120 to 125 parts of almost neutral salt-free trimethyl-2,4-diamino-5-phenyl-6-heptadecyl-1,3,5-triazinesulfonic acid sodium.

The new compound, in the form of the sodium salt, is a yellowish white crystal powder that is clearly soluble in water. It can be used as a textile auxiliary, in particular as a stripping agent in vat dyeing and as a leveling agent in cotton dyeing.
