Description
Verfahren zur Herstellung eines neuen Gemisches quaternärer Ammoniumverbindnngen. Es wurde gefunden, dass man zu einem neuen Gemisch quaternärer Ammoniumver- bindungen gelangt, wenn man das aus tech nischer Stearinsäure erhältliche Gemisch aus Stearinsäurechlormethylester und aus Pal- mitinsäurechlorrnethylester mit einem Alkali salz der Monochloressigsäure und darauf mit Pyridin behandelt.
Das neue Gemisch der quaternären Am moniumverbindungen stellt eine feste, farb lose Masse dar, die von heissem Wasser zu einer beim Schütteln schäumenden Lösung aufgenommen wird. Das neue Produkt kann als Textilhilfsstoff, insbesondere zum wasch echten Weichmachen von Textilien verwen det werden.
<I>Beispiel:</I> Eine Mischung aus 90 Gewichtsteilen Stearinsäurechlormethylester (aus technischer Stearinsäure) und 115 Gewichtsteilen Kalium chloracetat wird während etwa 4 Stunden unter Rühren auf 40-4"0 erwärmt. Durch Extrak tion mit Aceton wird das gebildete Derivat des Methylenglykols dem Reaktionsgemisch entzogen. Man löst darauf 20 Gewichtsteile des durch Extraktion gewonnenen Produktes in 40 Volumteilen Pyridin und lässt einige Tage bei Zimmertemperatur stehen.
Das sich dabei allmählich ausscheidende neue quater- näre Salz wird von der Mutterlauge getrennt, mit Diäthyläther gewaschen und vom an haftenden Lösungsmittel befreit. Man erhält eine feste, farblose Masse, die von heissem Wasser zu einer beim Schütteln schäumenden Lösung aufgenommen wird und die aller Wahrscheinlichkeit nach eine Mischung aus

Das neue Salz kann zum Beispiel zum waschechten Wasserabstossendmachen von Textilien verwendet werden.
Der verwendete Stearinsäurechlormethy f ester kann in üblicher Weise aus technischem Stearinsäurechlorid mit Paraformaldehyd in Gegenwart von Zinkchlorid erhalten werden.

It has been found that a new mixture of quaternary ammonium compounds is obtained if the mixture, obtainable from technical stearic acid, of chloromethyl stearate and chloromethyl palmitate is treated with an alkali salt of monochloroacetic acid and then with pyridine.
The new mixture of quaternary ammonium compounds is a solid, colorless mass that is absorbed by hot water to form a foaming solution when shaken. The new product can be used as a textile auxiliary, especially for real-time softening of textiles.
<I> Example: </I> A mixture of 90 parts by weight of chloromethyl stearate (from technical stearic acid) and 115 parts by weight of potassium chloroacetate is heated to 40-4 "0 for about 4 hours while stirring.
