Description

  

  Verfahren zur Herstellung einer neuen     quaternären        Ammoniumverbindung.       Es     wurde    gefunden, dass man zu einer  neuen     quaternären        Ammoniumverbindung          gelangt,    wenn man den Ester aus     Thiogly-          kolsäure    und der handelsüblichen Mischung  von normalem     Hexadecyl-    und     Octadecyl-          alkohol    mit     Chlormethyl-ss-chloräthyläther     und darauf mit     Pyridin    behandelt.  



  Die     quaternäre        Ammoniumverbindung     stellt eine feste, farblose Masse dar, die von  warmem Wasser zu einer beim Schütteln  schäumenden Lösung aufgenommen wird.  Das neue Produkt kann als     Textilhilfsstoff          verwendet    werden.  



  <I>Beispiel:</I>  1,7 Gewichtsteile des in üblicher Weise  aus     Thioglykolsäure    und aus der handels  üblichen Mischung aus vorwiegend normalem       Octa.decylalkohol    und einer geringeren  Menge normalem     Hexadecylalkohol    erhält  lichen Esters werden mit 0,6 Gewichtsteilen       Chlormethyl-ss-chloräthyläther    langsam auf  95 bis 100   erwärmt und etwa 5     Stunden     auf der     angegebenen    Temperatur gehalten.

      Nach dem Erkalten fügt man 2     Volumteile          Pyridin    hinzu, lässt 24     Stunden    bei Zimmer  temperatur stehen und fällt mit     Petroläther.     Man erhält das neue     quaternäre        Pyridinium-          salz    in Form einer farblosen, festen Masse,  die in warmem Wasser     unter    Schäumen lös  lich ist.

It has been found that a new quaternary ammonium compound is obtained if the ester of thioglycolic acid and the commercial mixture of normal hexadecyl and octadecyl alcohol is treated with chloromethyl-β-chloroethyl ether and then with pyridine.



  The quaternary ammonium compound is a solid, colorless mass that is absorbed by warm water to form a foaming solution when shaken. The new product can be used as a textile auxiliary.



  <I> Example: </I> 1.7 parts by weight of the ester obtained in the usual way from thioglycolic acid and from the commercially available mixture of predominantly normal octadecyl alcohol and a smaller amount of normal hexadecyl alcohol are mixed with 0.6 parts by weight of chloromethyl-ss- chloroethyl ether slowly heated to 95 to 100 and held for about 5 hours at the specified temperature.

      After cooling, add 2 parts by volume of pyridine, leave to stand for 24 hours at room temperature and fall with petroleum ether. The new quaternary pyridinium salt is obtained in the form of a colorless, solid mass which is soluble in warm water with foaming.

PATENTANSPRUCH: Verfahren zur Herstellung einer neuen quaternären Ammoniumverbindung, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass man den Ester aus Thio- glykolsäure und der handelsüblichen Mi schung von normalem Hexadecyl- und Octa- decylalkohol mit Chlormethyl-ss-chloräthyl- äther und hierauf mit Pyridin behandelt.
