Process for shaping and mounting in the bezel of a spectacle, a protective glass of flexible material, and machine for carrying out this process. The invention relates to a method for shaping and mounting in the bezel of a net read, for example a shaped watch case bezel, a protective glass in flexible ma: Hère.
According to the methods currently in use, the glass of flexible material is cut flat from a sheet of material according to the shape that it must have in order to be able to be bent. This cutting is done by means of a milling cutter which at the same time forms the assembly profile of the glass making it possible to mount the latter in the bezel of the net read, by means of ad hoc tools.
The known methods therefore comprise two distinct operations which are carried out by means of two tools, one of which is used to shape the glass flat, while the other makes it possible to assemble the glass with the bezel.
The method according to the invention offers the possibility of shaping the glass and of mounting it in the bezel, using a single machine, respectively a single tool. For this purpose, a piece of flexible material, forming the blank of the glass, is engaged and clamped between two mandrels, one of which is of concave shape and the other of convex shape, so that said blank is deformed and affects a domed shape. The blank in the domed state is then shaped using a milling cutter which gives the periphery of the blank the required final shape, together with a shoulder assembly profile corresponding to the bezel. assembly of the bezel.
Finally; the bezel is brought to the glass thus finished, but still in the domed state, and the mandrels are loosened; in such a way that the glass, while relaxing, engages its periphery in the bezel assembly of the bezel.
The invention also comprises a machine for carrying out the method described above and one embodiment of which is shown, by way of example, in the accompanying drawing. Fig. 1 the watch seen in front elevation, the cutter not being shown; fig. 2 shows a front elevation and partially in section, a lens being clamped between the mandrels of the machine completed by the milling cutter; fig. 3 shows, partially in section, the loose mandrels and the glass engaged in the bezel of the bezel.
On a frame 4 are mounted two mandrels 5, respectively 6, each by means of a pin 7, respectively 8, mounted in the frame. On the axis 7 is wedged an arm 10, using which one can rotate the axis 7 and assign the mandrel 5 a determined angular position, the arm carrying a movable button 11 of which a rod 12 cooperates with a fixed disc 18 pierced with holes 13 'to immobilize the axis 7 and the mandrel 5 in their acquired position. After having disengaged the rod 12 from the disc 13, the arm 10 can be rotated and starting from the axis 7 and the mandrel 5 to bring the latter into the desirable angular position, where it is again secured by means of the button 11 the rod of which cooperates with one of the holes in the disc 18.
The rotary axis 8 of the mandrel 6 is also movable in the axial direction, so that the convex mandrel 6 can be brought against the concave mandrel 5 and clamp between the two mandrels a glass 14 to be shaped and mounted in the bezel. , as shown in fig. 2 and 3.
For this purpose, there is provided a bush 15 mounted freely on a cylindrical part 4 'of the frame 4, so that it can not only rotate on this cylindrical part, but also move axially therein. The sleeve 15 carries a stop screw 16, against the front end of which the axis 8 rests, under the action of a return spring 17 mounted on the axis 8, between a bearing surface of the frame 4 and a ring 18 wedged on said axis.
The sleeve 15 is pierced with a curved groove 19, through which passes a guide pin 20 formed by a screw fixed to the cylindrical part 4 'of the frame. An arm 21, fixed to the sleeve 15, makes it possible to impart to the sleeve an angular movement limited by the groove 19 cooperating with the non 20.
If the sleeve 15 is rotated by 90 in the direction of rotation of a watch hand, starting from fig. 1 to arrive at the position shown in fig. 2, it simultaneously performs an axial movement on the cylindrical core 4 ', a movement which is determined by the reciprocal play of the tenon 20 and of the curved groove 19.
This axial displacement of the sleeve has the effect that the stop screw 16 pushes the axis 8 forward, by compressing the return spring 17, as shown in FIG. 2, so that the curved mandrel 6 approaches the mandrel 5 to clamp the workpiece 14, previously engaged between the two mandrels. This piece 14 will constitute the glass; it is formed by a piece of a sheet of flexible and transparent material, for example celluloid, and has approximately the shape of finished glass, for example the square, rectangular or barrel shape. However, the size of the blank exceeds that of the finished glass.
It is understood that the shape of the mandrels must correspond to that of the glass to be shaped and to be mounted in the bezel. These mandrels are preferably removable on their axis, to allow the rapid replacement of a mandrel by another mandrel of different shape.
By tightening the mandrels, the blank 14 is deformed and takes the convex shape of the mandrel 6, but its periphery exceeds the mandrins, so that it can be cut to. using a profiled cutter 22 of the machine.
The mandrel 6 keeps the part 14 clamped by the fact that during the tightening, the non-te 20 is engaged in the bottom of a branch which is more or less rectilinear and perpendicular to the axis 8, of the curved groove 19, which ensures the forward position of the socket 15.
The initial position of the axis 8 can be adjusted using the stop screw 16. This screw does not prevent the axis 8 from rotating on itself and together with the axis 7, when turn, using arm 10, the workpiece clamped between the mandrels. The cutter 22 receives a rapid rotational movement and is controlled by a guide mechanism, the construction of which offers nothing special and which has not been shown, because such mechanisms already exist and generally include a template or a pantograph for guiding the cutter in such a way that it cuts exactly the perimeter of the glass.
The cutter is profiled so as to give this periphery an assembly profile with a shoulder conforming to the dra geoir of the bezel 23.
The sides of the glass, rectilinear or curved, are milled one after the other, by turning the workpiece by a certain angle, using the arm 10, each time one side of the periphery is shaped.
When the glass is shaped with a milling cutter, the bezel 23, previously engaged on the shaft 8, is brought around the periphery of the glass as shown in FIG. 3 and the mandrels 5 and 6 are slowly loosened using the screw 21 which is brought back to its original position, which has the effect that the glass 14 partially relaxes and engages by its perimeter in the bezel of the bezel. This bezel conforming to the lean profile of the periphery of the glass, the glass and the bezel are firmly assembled by fitting one with the other, thanks to the elasticity of the glass held in the bezel in the curved state.
The protective glass is thus shaped and mounted in the bezel, in the curved state, by means of the machine described, starting from a glass blank having only approximately the shape of the finished glass.
