DESCRIPTION
DESCRIPTION
The present invention relates to a dental pivot.
The object of the invention is to provide a simple and inexpensive manufacturing dental pivot which has the advantage of being adjustable in its depth of penetration into the natural dental root and of constituting an excellent core of the stump of the tooth to be reconstituted. , core whose shape and height are also adjustable.
These aims are achieved by the means defined in claim 1.
The drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the subject of the invention and two variants.
Fig. 1 is an elevational view of a dental pivot.
Fig. 2 is an exploded perspective view of this pivot.
Fig. 3 is a section, on a smaller scale, of a dental root provided with the pivot of FIGS. 1 and 2 and the dental reconstruction carried out using it.
Fig. 4 is an elevational view, partly in section, of the dental pivot and of a tool used for its positioning.
Fig. 5 is a plan view of a detail of a first variant of a dental pivot, and
fig. 6 is an elevational view of part of a second variant of the dental pivot.
The dental pivot shown in figs. 1 to 4 comprises a threaded rod 1 of which a small end section 1a, of smaller diameter, is devoid of thread, intended to be screwed into a dental root, such as the root 2 shown in FIG. 3, in which it will be further sealed.
The part of the threaded rod 1 which projects beyond the root 2 when the pivot is in place therein carries three washers 3, 4 and 5, each provided with a collar 3a, 4a and Sa, respectively, which are all three screwed on the rod 1 and blocked on it by the effect of a lock nut. These three washers 3, 4 and 5, kept at a distance from each other by their collars, form the core of the stump of the dental reconstruction indicated in 6 in FIG. 3.
The three washers 3, 4 and 5 are grooved in 7 so as to give grip to a needle 8, sliding longitudinally, that carries a key 9 allowing to screw the pivot in the dental root. The key 9 has only been partially shown in FIG. 4. It comprises a spring, not shown, which acts on the needle 8 to move it in the direction of the arrow 10 and engage it in the groove of the last washer, in this case the washer 5. Means, not also shown , allow to act on the needle 8 to release it from the groove 7 of the washer 5 by moving it against the action of its return spring.
This pivot is used as follows:
After a central well 11 has been drilled in the root 2, then reamed using a tool, known per se, comprising a boring rod and a planing cutter intended to provide a flat surface on the root 12, the depth of the well is measured using a depth gauge, also known per se, and the pivot is prepared as a function of the length measured. To this end, the practitioner will screw washers onto the rod I, in a number depending on the volume and the height of the dental reconstruction to be carried out, and will determine their position along the rod as a function of the depth of the well II.
These washers will be blocked on the rod 1 by the effect of a lock nut.
Using a key, such as the key 9 shown in FIG. 4, the pivot is screwed into the well 11 until the first washer, namely the washer 3, comes to rest against the flat end face 12 of the root 2.
The practitioner will then use the stack of washers 3, 4 and 5 as the core of the stump of the dental reconstruction 6 to be produced, the grooves 7 improving the retention of the latter.
Alternatively, the washers may have notches or radial notches, such as the washer 13 in FIG. 5, which is provided with a collar 13a and which has notches 14 forming between them parts 13b in the form of petals. This configuration of the washers will improve the connection between the core and the stump of the dental reconstruction.
The variant of fig. 6 differs from the first embodiment by the fact that the three washers 3, 4 and 5 have been mounted turned over on the rod 1, so that it is the axial face of the collar 3a which bears on the flat face, indicated in phantom in 15, from the dental root. The reconstitution material can thus pass under the first washer, in this case the washer 3.
The present arrangement has the advantage of allowing very easy adjustment of the height of the pivot, since it suffices to adjust the position of the washers on the pivot to determine the length of the free section of the rod which penetrates into the natural root. In addition, this pivot is very inexpensive since it only comprises parts that are very easy to produce, such as the threaded rod and the washers. These also constitute an excellent nucleus for the stump of the tooth to be reconstituted, a nucleus whose shape and height are adjustable.
It should be noted that the number of washers may be different from three; there may even be, in some cases, only one.
