Verfahren zur Darstellung eines Polymethinfarbstofes. Gegenstand dieses. Zusatzpatentes ist ein Verfahren zur Darstellung eines Polym-ethin- farbstoffes, welches dadurch gekennzeichnet ist, dass man 1,3,
3-TrimetUyl-5-methoxyindo- lin-2-methylen-co-a1.dehyd mit Tetrahydro- chinolin kondensiert und den so erhaltenen basischen Farbstoff mit einem sulfierenden Mittel behandelt. <I>Beispiel:
</I> 23 Gewichtsteile 1,3,3-Trimethyl-5-me- thoxyindolin-2-methylen-co-aldehyd werden mit 13,3 Gewichtsteilen Tetrahydrochinolin in 100 Gewichtsteilen Benzol gelöst und durch Zutropfen von 16 Gewichtsteilen Phos- phoroxychlorid bei etwa 15 bis 20 C bis zur Farbstoffbildung kondensiert.
