Central seconds device for watches. The present invention, due to Mr. Henry Thiébaud in Bienne, relates to a central seconds device for watches.
Different central seconds solutions have already been proposed with a view to facilitating, on watches, the reading of seconds, which is made quite difficult by the too small indication provided by the small seconds hand displaced from the center of the dial. or needles respectively. However, these devices have had the drawback of requiring a certain number of additional parts in the movement, in particular an intermediate bridge serving as a support or an increase in the thickness of the movement.
With the device according to the invention, these difficulties are overcome owing to the fact that an additional pinion of a second, located on the shaft of the second hand, is controlled by the small-mean wheel which meshes so multaneously with the pinion. second, the shaft of the minute hand being controlled directly by the barrel by means of an additional pinion corresponding to that of the larger average.
An embodiment of the object of the invention is shown, by way of example, in the accompanying drawing.
Fig. 1 is a plan view of the movement of a watch, side of the bridges; Fig. 2 is a schematic section of the movement, all the centers being represented in the same plane.
Only the parts absolutely essential to understanding the invention will be described in the description.
1 designates the center of the barrel 2 which simultaneously engages in the large pinion 3 and the additional pinion 5 carrying the roadway A. On the roadway -A carrying the minute hand M is placed, in a known manner, the barrel with hour hand H. In the axis of pinion 5 is housed, with greasy friction, the shaft C carrying the seconds hand S and, towards its other end, the additional second pinion 7, so that the three needles S, H and H turn on the same center.
The small medium wheel 4 engages simultaneously in the second pinion 6 and in the additional second gear 7, the shaft C of which passes right through the pinion 5. The toothed wheel 6a of the second gear engages in the pinion 8 of the escape wheel 8a which cooperates, by means of the anchor mechanism pivoted at 9, with the balance 10.
In this arrangement, the pinion 5 makes one revolution in one hour and the additional second pinion one revolution in one minute, the needle S thus indicating the seconds.
Thanks to the arrangement described, the thickness of the movement and, consequently, of the watch, remains the same as in a watch without seconds at the center without any increase and without the use of an additional bridge.
It goes without saying that the invention can also be adapted to chronometers, wristwatches, case watches, etc.
