Process for the production of a vat dye of the anthraquinone acridone series. The main patent describes a process for the preparation of a vat dye, according to which 5'-benzoylaminoanthraquinonylaminoanthraaIinonakridon is treated with acidic condensing agents.
It has now been found that one also-

treated with acidic condensing agents. The aforementioned Anthraehinonylaminoanthra falls a valuable one, by great authenticity and. Color strength excellent new vat dye of the anthraquinone acridone series is obtained when the 4'-benzoylamino anthraquinonylaminoanthraquinone acridone of the formula quinonacridone, which is itself a dye, is obtained, for example.
B. by condensation of 3-haloanthraquinone acridones with free 4-position with 1-amino-4-benzoylaminoanthraquinone.
Suitable acidic condensing agents are, for. B. anhydrous aluminum chloride, which is expedient with the addition of suitable United diluents, such as table salt or organic liquids indifferent to aluminum chloride, eg. B.
Nitrobenzene or trichlorobenzene is used, as well as concentrated sulfuric acid and chlorosulfonic acid. Example: 18 parts of 3-chloroanthraquinone acridone are heated to boiling with 2.0 parts of 1-amino-4-benzoylamino-anthraquinone in 240 parts of the nitrobenzene until the evolution of hydrogen chloride has ceased.
After cooling, the compound which has separated out is filtered off with suction and washed with nitrobenzene; then washed with benzene and finally with ligroin. Their structure corresponds to the formula:
EMI0002.0025
The compound obtained gives a brown solution with concentrated sulfuric acid, from which it is deposited in violet flakes when diluted with water, and gives dull violet colors from a corinth-colored vat on cotton.
10 parts of the compound obtained in accordance with paragraph 1 are heated in 10 parts of sulfuric acid monohydrate for two hours with stirring to 30 to 40 ° C. and the mixture is worked up. A dye is obtained which, with concentrated sulfuric acid, gives a brownish crimson-red solution, from which it precipitates into red-brown flakes when diluted with water and gives strong red-brown colorations from an orange-red-brown vat on cotton.
