Description

Gear change mechanism, especially applicable to a bicycle. The object of the present invention is a gear change mechanism, in particular applicable to a bicycle according to the claim of the main patent.

According to this claim, the speed change comprises members with the aid of which the cyclist operates the speed change by inverting the direction of rotation of the driving shaft.

In the main patent, an embodiment has been described comprising a rocker pivoted inside the drive shaft, a rocker which controls coupling pawls mounted in cells of said shaft and acting only in one direction on the gear wheels and which, itself controlled by a slider in a slot in the drive shaft, is moved by counter-pedal action by means of the bevelled end of a pivoted lever arm on the box cover closing the mechanism. This arm, which is controlled by a spring and cooperates with a stopper, is moved on each turn of the drive shaft and causes a noise which one wants to suppress by means of the object of the present invention.

The present invention therefore comprises a lever pivoted on the cover of the mechanism box and biased by a spiral spring, this lever cooperating with the slider under the effect of a flat and curved stop spring, mounted on the shaft. return stopper and an auxiliary stopper supporting said stopper spring so as to prevent contact of the lever with the return shaft in a position where the lever moves the slider.

The object of the invention is shown in the accompanying drawing, and by way of example, by a view taken in the axial direction of the trailing shaft of the bicycle.

In a slot of the drive shaft 1, the direction of movement of which during ordinary running is indicated by an arrow, can slide a slider 2 which must cooperate with a lever 3 pivoted on a pin 4. This lever is biased by a spring. 5 spiral which is anchored by its free end on the countershaft 6 of the gear change and which seeks to bring the lever 3 towards this countershaft. A second flat and curved stop spring 7 is fixed at one of its ends by a screw 8 and rests with its other end against the lever 3, keeping it always at a distance from the countershaft 6. This spring itself rests on an auxiliary stop 9 which supports its middle part.

The operation of this arrangement is as follows: In ordinary operation, lever 3 assumes the position indicated in dotted lines and bars the path of cursor 2 slightly enough not to move this cursor. But in the event of a counter-pedaling, the slider meeting the bevelled free end of the lever causes this lever to turn and is then forcibly pressed into the drive shaft without the lever touching the countershaft. Any noise of contact between this shaft and the lever 3 is thus suppressed.
