einer wasserstoffaufnehmenden Substanz und einem Hydrierungskatalysator erhitzt. - Das so erhaltene Carbolin ist bekannt. 1s schmilzt in reinem Zustande bei 2100 C (vergl. Chem. Zentralblatt 1924, 1. S. 2518).
Es soll als Zwischenprodukt zur Herstellung von Farbstoffen und pharmazeutischen Pro dukten Verwendung finden. <I>Beispiel:</I> 30 Teile Tetrahydro-carbolin der Formel

werden mit 60 Teilen Phenol und 1 Teil eines Hydrierungskatalysators im Rührauto klaven auf 220-230' C erhitzt. Bei der Aufarbeitung des vom Katalysator befreiten Reaktionsproduktes mit Wasserdampf und Umkristallisieren des Rückstandes aus Me thanol erhält man das Carbolin.
