Description
Process for the preparation of an agent for increasing the 1% apillary activity of liquids. The present patent is a process for the preparation of an agent for increasing the capillary activity of liquids. The process is characterized in that the technical coconut fatty alcohol obtainable by reducing the coconut fatty acids, a substance converting an alcohol into a sulfuric acid ester, and technical pyridine bases in approximately molecular quantities are allowed to act on one another at elevated temperature and pressure.
The most advantageous embodiment of the process is carried out in such a way that first the technical pyridine bases with the substance converting an alcohol into a sulfuric acid ester, e.g. B. chlorosulfonic acid, treated and the product thus obtained can act on the alcohol.
Example: 37 parts of chlorosulfonic acid are introduced into 75 parts of technical pyridine bases (average molecular weight = 100) with stirring and cooling, the temperature not exceeding 45%. Then 75 parts of technical coconut fatty alcohol are introduced in small amounts with continued stirring, the temperature being kept at about 45-50. After entering the alcohol, the class is usually already water-soluble, otherwise stirring is continued until a sample dissolves clearly in water. The product is then heated to 150-1550 in the closed reaction vessel for 14 hours.
After cooling, the new product is a brown mass that is easily soluble in water to form a strongly foaming liquid with a high wetting effect. The aqueous solution has the property of promoting the formation of positively charged dispersions, but precipitating negatively charged dispersions. The product is quite resistant to concentrated mineral acids.
