Sprinkler hose connection fixed to an auxiliary element, in particular for fire pump hoses. Until now it was necessary, in the service of the fire pumps, to hold and d; direct it. sprinkler lance: by hand, which was very tiring @ because of the reacting force of the water. The firefighter operating the lance was tired very quickly and had to be replaced very often. Such a maneuver on the ladder is often fraught with difficulties.
The object of the present invention is a watering lance connection fixing to an auxiliary element, in particular for pump pipes. fire, by means of which the above-mentioned disadvantages can be avoided. This fitting is characterized in that it comprises at least one ball joint by means of which the fitting can be bent so that the sprinkler lance screwing onto one end of the fitting can be adjusted in the direction desired, said seal. being held with such friction that the position of the adjusted lance cannot be changed by the reaction of the water jet. The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, one embodiment of the subject of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a longitudinal section of this embodiment having a fixing device; Fig. 2 shows the arrangement represented in FIG. 1, seen from behind; Fig. 3 is a side view of a modified fixing device; Fig. 4 is a rear view thereof, and FIG. 5 a view from above, the hand press being omitted.
The connector shown in fig. 1 and 2 is connected with its end A to the fire hose, the hose nozzle being screwed onto the end B of the connector. This fitting com has two parts a and b, , the first of which has two parts ai and as. Part ai is tapped to receive the pipe fixing screw and its outer surface is curved at the sphere surface. Part a2 is formed by a hollow sphere which is connected to part a1 and having an outlet opening for water.
Part b is threaded bi; the watering lance is screwed on its step. Exhibit b also features a hollow sphere b2 similar to a2 and having an entrance lumen designated as b3.
The hollow spheres or ball joints a2 and b2 are each enclosed in a sleeve c respec tively, screwed onto a common threaded ring. The free ends of the sleeves are narrowed behind the ball joints; they thus hold the two parts a and b. Between the elements a2, c and e, on the one hand, and b2, c1 and c, on the other hand , are enclosed by the packing rings f and g. These rings not only serve as a seal, but also increase the friction of the ball joints in their sleeves. In addition, two small locking screws la and i have been provided to prevent the sleeves c and d from unscrewing.
In order to fix the fitting, for example on a rung, a fixing device has been provided comprising a split clamping ring k which surrounds the convex surface of part ai and can be tightened by means of a screw 1. The ring k has a hand press m with the help of which the whole can be fixed on the rung.
The fixing device shown in FIGS. 3 to 5 has, instead of a screw, another clamping device for the ring k. A lever n rotatably mounted on an arm ki of the clamping ring and which has an eccentric depression ni into which the other arm 7e2 of the ring k is inserted is provided for this purpose. In the drawing, the ring k is not tightened. By turning the handle n to the left or to the right, the two arms of the ring are clamped together due to the eccentricity of the depression ni and thus the part a is immobilized. This clamping device allows very rapid work, which plays a major role for the fire extinguisher service.
The fitting described is used as follows: The fitting provided with the hose and the lance is fixed, for example, on a rung by means of the fixing device. The lance is then given the desired direction. Adjustment is possible in three places: at part ai with respect to the clamping ring k and at the ball joints a2 and b2, which together form a double spherical joint constructed in such a way as to remain in any desired position despite the force of rectification due to the change of direction of the water stream passing through it. This is due to the friction exerted on the outer surfaces by the packing rings f and g.
Instead of screwing the two sleeves c and d onto an inner ring e, as shown in fig. 1, a common threaded outer ring can be provided, into which these two sleeves are screwed. This makes it possible to use a single packing ring, replacing the two rings f and g and connecting the two ball joints a @ 2 and b2, so as to obtain a perfect seal.
