Device comprising at least one expandable assembly having
two sliding tubular elements.
The object of the invention is a device comprising at least one extensible assembly having two sliding tubular elements, characterized in that this assembly comprises a clamping sleeve fixed to one of the tubular elements and provided with slots, so as to present jaws each of which is provided with at least one internal projection, these jaw projections being intended to cooperate with at least one notch formed in the other tubular element adjusted so as to be able to slide in the first, a sleeve, adjusted on the sleeve and internally having a conical surface capable of being displaced axially with respect to this sleeve, so as to obtain, by the cooperation of its conical surface with corresponding surfaces of the jaws, the clamping thereof, and, therefore,
the fixing of the two tubular elements in their relative position.
The drawing represents, by way of example, several embodiments of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 partially shows, in elevation with parts in section, a first embodiment constituting a ski pole.
Fig. 2 is an axial section on a larger scale of the clamping mechanism of this embodiment.
Fig. 3 is a cut along the line
III-III of fig. 2.
Fig. 4 is an axial section of part of a second embodiment also constituting a ski pole.
Fig. 5 is an axial section of part of a third embodiment constituting a fishing rod.
Figs. 6 and 7 schematically show a stretcher and a camp bed formed by means of side members and uprights established in accordance with one embodiment of the device according to the invention.
The ski pole shown in fig. 1 comprises two metal tubes 10 and 11 adjusted so that one can slide in the other. The outer tube 10 carries the handle 12. The inner tube 11 has, from place to place, annular notches 13. At the end of the outer tube 10 opposite the handle] 2, is fixed a sleeve 14 provided with slots, of so that it has elastic jaws 15 carrying chaeune, on the inside, a projection 16, and terminating on the outside with a conical surface 17.
The sleeve 14 also has, at its end fixed to the tube 10, an inclined slot 18 extending over about a quarter of the periphery of this sleeve and at a relatively small pitch. On the sleeve 14 is fitted, with greasy friction, a sleeve 19 having, at one end, a conical inner surface 20 and carrying at its other end, a radial screw 21, the tip of which is engaged in the slot 18 of the sleeve. 14.
By turning the sleeve 19 in the same direction as that of clockwise (seen from the handle 12). it causes a small axial displacement of the latter in the direction of the arrow relative to the sleeve 14 and. by the cooperation of the conical surface 20 of the sleeve with the conical surfaces 17 of the jaws 15, the clamping of these jaws whose projections 16 engage in one of the notches 13 of the inner tube 11, thus ensuring the fixing of the two tubes in their relative position. By turning the sleeve 1) in the opposite direction, one causes a reverse axial displacement of this sleeve and the release of the jaws 15 which separate by their own elasticity.
The reputed ski pole can thus be adjusted in length by a simple and rapid operation. It goes without saying that the notches 13 of the inner tube can be as close together as desired and that the axial displacement of the sleeve 19 on the sleeve 14 can be obtained by other means: for example by a thread or by a tenon thread carried by the sleeve, engaged in a slot of the sleeve and provided with an external tightening nut.
The ski pole shown in fig. 4 includes an extendable assembly similar to that of the first and composed of an outer metal tube 10 carrying the handle 12, an inner metal tube 11 provided with notches 13 and a clamping mechanism 14, 19 identical to that of the stick of fig. 1 to 3.
A coil spring 22 is housed in the text tube 10 and, on the one hand, rests on a rod stopper 23 which forms the extension of the handle 12 and which is fixed in the corresponding end of the tube 10 and, on the other hand, against a plug 24 fixed in the end penetrating into the tube 10 of the inner tube 11. A pin passing through the cap 24 and the tube 11 is guided in diametrically opposed longitudinal slots of the outer tube 10 , thus limiting the relative elastic movements of the two tubes and preventing them from rotating.
When the jaws of the clamping mechanism are released, the spring 22 provides the handle 12 with elasi support; ic. It suffices to tighten the jaws in mana; opening: this sleeve 19 to lock the two tubes to the desired length and obtain a rigid pole more suitable for the descent.
The embodiment shown in FIG. 5 constitutes a fishing rod comprising a tip 26 and several tubular sections 25 engaged one in the other, so as to be able to slide, and forming part two by two of extensible assemblies similar to that of the device of FIGS. 1 a 3. The inner tubular sections are provided with notches (not shown) and are fixed two by two in their relative position by clamping mechanisms identical to that of FIGS. 2 and 3, and of which only that of the first expandable assembly is shown. The fishing rod thus formed is adjustable in length between very large limits.
Other embodiments of the device according to the invention could be arranged so as to constitute respectively a support. a foot, a tent pole, a camp bed element, a stretcher element, a foldable boat element, or an adjustable field antenna holder, for example. Figs. 6 and 7 schematically show a stretcher and a cot formed by means of longitudinal members and uprights established in accordance with one embodiment of the device according to the invention and therefore each comprising an extendable assembly having two sliding tubular elements which are fixed in their relative position by means of a clamping mechanism having the same elements as that of FIGS. 2 and 3.
