Description

  

  Verfahren zur Darstellung eines gerbenden Stoffes.    Es wurde gefunden,     dass    man ein in  Wasser in jedem Verhältnis klar lösliches  und zum Gerben wertvolles Produkt erhält,  wenn man     para-Dioxydiphenylsulfon    in wäs  seriger Lösung bei Gegenwart von     Naphtha-          litinionosulfosäure    mit Formaldehyd erhitzt.  Die Konstitution des Endstoffes ist unbekannt,  und die Wirkungsweise der     Naphthalinmorio-          sulfosäure    nicht mit Sicherheit anzugeben.  Das neue Produkt wird in Lösung durch  Kochsalz gefällt und durch     Ferrichlorid    ein  blauvioletter Niederschlag erzeugt.

   Der neue  Gerbstoff liefert bei der     Gerbung    ein Leder,  das sowohl hinsichtlich der Lichtechtheit als  auch der Fülle demjenigen überlegen ist, das  mit den künstlichen Gerbstoffen erhalten wird,  die aus     Pherlolen    nach bekannten Verfahren  hergestellt sind.  



  <I>Beispiel:</I>  <B>100</B> Teile     Napbthalinmonosulfosäure.,   <B>100</B>  Teile     para   <B>-</B>     Dioxydiphenylsulfon,   <B>50</B> Teile       Wasser        und        40        Teile        Formaldehyd        30%     werden<B>1</B>1/4 Stunden auf<B>105-106 0</B> erhitzt;    das schwer lösliche     Sulfon    geht im Verlauf  der Kondensation vollständig in -Lösung. Das  Reaktionsgemisch wird mit Lauge neutrali  siert, mit Essigsäure schwach angesäuert und  mit Wasser auf<B>800</B> Teile eingestellt.

   Zur  Ausführung der     Gerbung    genügen<B>80</B> Teile  des neuen Produktes auf<B>100</B> Teile     Blössen-          gewicht;    es wird gegerbt, wie bei vegetabi  lischen     Gerbstoffen    üblich ist.

It has been found that a product which is clearly soluble in water in any ratio and is valuable for tanning is obtained if para-dioxydiphenylsulfone is heated with formaldehyde in an aqueous solution in the presence of naphthalatinionosulfonic acid. The constitution of the end product is unknown, and the mode of action of naphthalene moriosulfonic acid cannot be stated with certainty. The new product is precipitated in solution with common salt and a blue-violet precipitate is generated by ferric chloride.

   During tanning, the new tanning agent yields a leather which is superior to that obtained with the artificial tanning agents produced from pherloles by known processes in terms of both lightfastness and fullness.



  <I> Example: </I> <B> 100 </B> parts naphthalene monosulphonic acid., <B> 100 </B> parts para <B> - </B> dioxydiphenylsulphone, <B> 50 </B> parts Water and 40 parts of formaldehyde 30% are heated for <B> 1 </B> 1/4 hour to <B> 105-106 0 </B>; the sparingly soluble sulfone goes completely into solution in the course of the condensation. The reaction mixture is neutralized with alkali, weakly acidified with acetic acid and adjusted to 800 parts with water.

   <B> 80 </B> parts of the new product to <B> 100 </B> parts pelt weight are sufficient to carry out the tanning; it is tanned, as is common with vegetable tanning agents.

Claims

Claim: method for the preparation of a tanning substance, characterized in that para-Dioxydiphenylsulfon in the presence of Naphthaliiimonosulfosäure is condensed in aqueous solution with formaldehyde under heating. The reaction product is precipitated with common salt, and a blue-violet precipitate is produced by ferric chloride. When the pelt is tanned, the new tanning agent produces a leather of excellent lightfastness and fullness.
