Description

  

  Verfahren     zur    Darstellung eines gerbenden     Stoffes.       Es wurde gefunden, dass man ein     in     Wasser in jedem Verhältnis klar lösliche  und zum Gerben wertvolles Produkt erhält,  wenn man     p-Dioxydiphenylsulfon    in konzen  trierter Lösung bei Gegenwart von.     Naph-          thalinmonosulfo.säure    mit Formaldehyd er  hitzt. Die Konstitution des Endstoffes ist  unbekannt und die Wirkungsweise der     Naph-          thalinmonosulfosäure    nicht mit Sicherheit an  zugeben.

   Das neue Produkt wird in Lösung  durch Kochsalz gefällt, und durch     Ferrichlo-          rid    wird ein blauvioletter Niederschlag er  zeugt. Der neue Gerbstoff liefert bei der Ger  bung ein Leder, das .sowohl hinsichtlich der  Lichtechtheit, als auch der Fülle demjenigen       überlegen    ist, das mit den künstlichen Gerb  stoffen erhalten wird, die aus     Phenolen        nach     bekannten Verfahren hergestellt sind.  



       Beispiel:     200 Teile     Naphthalinmonosulfosäure,   <B>100</B>  Teile     p-Dioxydiphenylsulfon    und 20 Teile  Wasser werden nur eine Stunde lang     hei     115   mit 60 Teilen Formaldehyd 30 % er  hitzt; das in Wasser schwer lösliche Reak-         tionsgemisch    wird mit Lauge neutralisiert,  mit Essigsäure schwach angesäuert, so dass  beim Gerben keine Schwellung der Blösse  eintritt, und mit Wasser auf 800 Teile ein  gestellt. Zur Ausführung der     Gerbung    ge  nügen 60 bis 80 Teile des neuen Produkte  auf<B>100</B> Teile     Blössengewicht,    je nach Art  der verwendeten Blösse; es wird gegerbt.

It has been found that a product which is clearly soluble in water in any ratio and is valuable for tanning is obtained if p-dioxydiphenyl sulfone is obtained in concentrated solution in the presence of. Naphthalene monosulfonic acid is heated with formaldehyde. The constitution of the end product is unknown and the mode of action of the naphthalene monosulfonic acid cannot be stated with certainty.

   The new product is precipitated in solution using common salt, and ferric chloride produces a blue-violet precipitate. When tanning, the new tanning agent supplies a leather that is superior to that obtained with artificial tanning materials made from phenols by known processes in terms of both lightfastness and fullness.



       Example: 200 parts of naphthalene monosulphonic acid, 100 parts of p-dioxydiphenylsulphone and 20 parts of water are heated to 115 with 60 parts of 30% formaldehyde for only one hour; the reaction mixture, which is sparingly soluble in water, is neutralized with lye, weakly acidified with acetic acid so that the pelt does not swell during tanning, and adjusted to 800 parts with water. To carry out the tanning, 60 to 80 parts of the new product per <B> 100 </B> parts pelt weight are sufficient, depending on the type of pelt used; it is tanned.

PATENT CLAIM: Process for the preparation of a tanning substance, characterized in that naphthalene monosulphonic acid is condensed in the presence of p-dioxydiphenylsulphone in concentrated solution with formaldehyde with heating. The reaction product is precipitated by Koclc- salt,

and ferric chloride produces a blue-violet precipitate. When the hide is tanned, the new (- tanning agent provides leather of excellent lightfastness and fullness.
